Peaceful protests get exactly nothing done.

You think we got the 5 day work week because people sat in a circle singing kumbaya?

Your forefathers bled and died doing shit far more violent than this so you would be allowed to have lunch break you ungreatful chud.

And what is this getting done?

It puts the fear of the people into rulers, as it should. Americans have long forgotten how this works.

Dude they sent the national guard and hired mercenaries to kill union workers back in the day. The union strikers fought back just as hard

That's the legacy of workers rights in America. Violent resistance against capital.

Thats quite interesting because in america it seems that workers have so few rights

I think we take what we have for granted, and a lot depends on the state you live in. NY is pretty good, all things considered

Are you really asking that, HERE??

He made it up.

Unions are fucking trash lol.

Unions are why we have shitty police and teachers.

That first part is flat out wrong. Unions give power to groups of people by taking the "everyone is replaceable" card out of the hands of employers. It gives negotiating power to the workers by eliminating or limiting the pool of workers who can and will do that job for less pay, benefits, and rights.

Unfortunately, in this case, the police unions do this very well. They are very effective at protecting their members, but this effectiveness has been perverted to protect the vile acts they commit instead of shunning and correcting the behaviors.

Teachers unions are weak. They do not do a good job advocating for fair pay, teacher rights, or benefits. I know this first hand because my mom has been a teacher for almost 40 years.

Both of these examples are a product of the corruption of government by the lobbying efforts of Big Buisness billionaire and companies. They have twisted police into a state funded guard system that protects them and their interests such as filling private prisons, the 2 tier justice system, hell jaywalking was propagated by the auto industry to push the blame onto pedestrians for the inherent dangers of car/pedestrian strikes instead of having to fund research into making cars safer for pedestrians at a time when more people could walk, ride horses and buggies, and bike in their communities because thats all there was then! So we have police enforce jaywalking instead.

The teachers' unions were perverted by gearing education to provide workers fit to slave away under businesses thumb rather than to be free thinking and independent like those who conquered and settled the US. The unions and the Dept of Ed set curriculums and standards that provide good worker bees and squash outside thought by implementing standardized tests and thought patterns. School is literally intended to institutionalize children now.

Unions are great when used correctly.
