People will cheer this on and then they'll be shocked when Le Pen wins the next election.

This is exactly what's gonna happen. People don't learn until it's too late and then act surprised.

Reddit is under the impression that the average working person has a positive reaction to such things. I knew Trump was gonna get reelected when I saw those videos of people in California burning down city blocks while waving Mexican flags.

reddit is unable to undestand it's the far 10% on the left in an echo-chamber and not the norm. they cheer on ever single thing that results in their downfall and act surprised. Trump is in office because of this "anything other than the most extreme left position is wrong".

reddit is also under the impression that lepen has not been campaigning for years and never won. centrists don't want her either. people have been actively voting against her.

That was not the reason why Trump was elected. People suffered from inflation and the Democrats hat no answer to their problems. Trump promised no more wars and decreased prices.

The left in France has also run the economy into the ground , but that's a given and usually doesn't prevent people from voting left wing.

the fuck are you talking about, in the last 28 yrs we had right wing governments except for 4 yrs with Holland who was arguably center-left.

right wing capitalists are the reason we're in this mess.

Sure. As long as you move the meter of what's categorized as "left" waaay over.

Then everyone seems right wing. Just like how people say Obama was right wing.

...What? 3 of the last 4 French presidents were right wing and that's a fact, or do you think Macron is a leftist??

1

u/Check_Me_Out-Boss 42m ago

He's certainly not right wing, bub.

He is most certainly center-right, not hard-right mind you but a liberal/neoliberal, so still right wing

Ah, the typical "no true Scotsman" we see from the left.

Ok now i'm confused, what is it about what I said that's wrong or misleading?

Sarkozy and Chirac were absolutly right-wing, Holland was center left and Macron campaigned on being centrist but his governing and policies are right wing, and his party is pondering to the far right. So no.

Macron is so right wing that Le Pen is leading the polls.

Got it.

So did the right in france and people still voted for Sarkozy and Macron. Now pepole tend to vote far left and far right as Macron is not able to adress the peoples problems.

It was inflation plus the insane border situation

And he did nothing about it, made Inflation even worse and started a war instead of leaving Middle East.

What he did after being elected is irrelevant to this discussion.

Just like the comment above mine. Trump was not elected because of some protesters and the far left or far right in France will not be elected because of the French protesters, they will be elected if the gouvernment does nothing about the increasing cost of living.
