Boomers refuse to accept any changes to the pension system, while the left keeps demanding higher taxes and more social spending. At this rate, we're screwed.
If you remove all incentive for the rich to pursue wealth accumulation they will simply leave or stop producing as much wealth. Both scenarios are counter productive to those who expect taxing the rich to solve a failing economy.
The incentive is access to leech of the country economy, very often taking from public funds and forcing politicians to pass legistalion in their favour. If they want to go which surprise surprise they won't they can get the fuck out, they will be easily replaced.
Well unfortunately in this system you do need them because even though for you they don't pay enough taxes, they do still pay a lot of taxes and employ a lot of people. If you removed the wealthy from night to morning the system would falter. You'd have to move to a different system first in order to be able to not depend on them.
Actually it is. The wealthy people left and the rest couldn't keep the whole thing running on their own, which was what you seemed to be suggesting would happen.
They mostly evade taxes, money launder, have as much as they can in tax havens...even Robert Kiyosaki gleefully explains this, epic music and slow panning included, in a YT video pretty much wanting to say in the end GREAT MEN find their way or something on that line.
This is not counting taking out from public resources for their shitty profit motivated private scams quite often.
That can all be true while my point still stands. That's because the system we exist in has been viciously made dependant on those vultures. We exist in a completely corrupt system and the idea that taxing the wealthy to give money to the non wealthy would solve such abomination is an infantile wishful thinking.
There are two options to actually solve anything, you either must create alternative societies that reject the system and those who rule it, or you must destroy the system completely and built something better out of its ashes. Both are more difficult than idealists and utopians would like to believe.
Oh I agree. Not thinking we have a revolution around the corner, maybe if stuff goes really really really THAT bad, which I doubt short term.
Just saying even in this system as it is now, big business often will cause more trouble than they generate "wealth" specially foreign business. And if a manufacturer, of idk, let's say cheap electronics, specialized on low budget control pads for PC, leaves the French or Swedish market for example -which as said I doubt they'd do- their place in the market would be filled quickly.
This is of course not 100% of the cases and could be at least partly wrong, but from what I have I'm pretty sure.
By the way, I think we may be in store for a big revolution, the question is, to what extent will it be co-opted by the powers that be to serve their own agenda as it usually happens?
