So Elon showed off a obviously dumb and useless flying car?? I mean thruster controls??? Really? Are we on the moon? How much thruster control can this little light weight car even store? Itâs more like a car that can hop as long as your cool with everyone around your jump radius is ok being blasted with debris and exhaust.
Every man that defends this little pussy needs to grow up.

1
u/Expert_Emphasis5705 7h ago
now thatâs an interesting argument, if you held that same conviction with everywhere else your money goes then youâd have a hard time finding viable options for anything. You see, most spent dollars are funneled into a very small subset of people and institutions, this is both consensual and nonconsensual through threat of violence and/or imprisonment (taxes). In addition, your hatred and contempt for the corpse that is the Nazi party blinds you from your real adversaries. Elon is an autistic nerd who has a knack for business. He is not a member of the SS. You should try focusing that energy and conviction into something that actually makes a difference because i promise you that you wonât be successful in shorting elon companyâs over longer time scales

1
u/Accomplished_Hat9619 17h ago
Itâs not a car. Itâs a kite with thrusters that blast once. Itâs impractical and stupid. If Elon wasnât such a horrible person it would make me chuckle. But since it was developed with money that used to go feed children that will now die, it makes it less interesting.
Real men donât let the rich distract them while poisoning communities and killing children.

This is just the Robot demonstration with the guy dancing in the suit but this time its a little model car that has thrusters like a remote control toy.

Theyâre funding AI and physical robotics infrastructure out of an  automotive business whose cash generation is actively shrinking. Time to throw up some distractions like merging businesses to muddle the numbers.Â

Tesla (the hyped non launches and bullshit FSD goal line shift for more than a decade) Â Â

u/TerrorFromThePeeps 2d ago
I mean, i saw firefighters to this on mythbusters in the 2010s (maybe 2000s). You yank the engine and drivetrain out of a car, its not that hard to lift.
1
u/Crepuscular_Tex 2d ago
Then add the same weight in batteries...
10
u/PlsNoNotThat 2d ago
For anyone confused, itâs called the tyranny of the rocket equation;
The issue with adding mass to a rocket is that it requires an exponential increase in propellant to lift that extra weight, creating a compounding cycle where you must add even more fuel just to carry the fuel you just added to lift the additional mass.
Thatâs why this is a smoke and mirrors demonstration to fool rubes to invest in more nonsense.

Muskâs automotive career started with the original Tesla Roadster between 2004 and 2008. Back then, the company took 100% upfront payments of $100,000 from early buyers, burned through that cash patching up engineering flaws, and by 2008 stood on the brink of bankruptcy without delivering a single car on schedule, though they eventually made it to the assembly line and shipped around 2,450 units.
The second-generation Roadster, on the other hand, is the exact definition of taking the money and delivering nothing. In 2017, Musk collected $50,000 deposits and full $250,000 prepayments on a promise to launch the car in 2020.
Nine years and at least six delays later, buyers still haven't received a single vehicle. Instead, at its October 2026 reveal in Texas, Tesla showed off a redesigned two-seat prototype with SpaceX gas thrusters, gave no final price, and pushed production back yet again now to 2028.
11
u/Ok_Pass_7325 2d ago
Do people get a refund? Idk how he gonna collect deposit and full payments, be 6 years late with still nothing to show without getting sued to oblivion and going bankrupt

u/DukeSmileDevs 2d ago
From what i know people who go the legal way usually get their cash back because Tesla doesnt want risk going to court creating a precedence.
1
u/The_Dynasty_Warrior 2d ago
But who's paying the lawyer fee
2
u/DukeSmileDevs 2d ago
Well Tesla goes for settlements which include paying the lawyers fees in exchange for an NDA and relinquishing any right to sue at a civil court.
So those who pay lawyer fees upfront and go through the hassle usually get their money + fees back.
Like i said, Tesla doesnt want to go to court over it and risk creating a precedence.

They strapped SpaceX thrusters and guidance to a tesla model to do a stunt and we are hearing, "tsla making flying cars". No, this car was able to land after falling. Flying teslas is not going to be a thing. The ground force fan has to really wear down battery. Neat but not practical for ev usage.
If we want flying EVs buy the quad copter cycles, those already work.
6
u/omgwtfsaucers 3d ago
It is not, it is real. But it is a showpiece and not a production model, never will be. All show and big words, just like we know Musk. In 2035 they'll release just another fast electric vehicle, nothing special.

The implications for collision protection is pretty big here.
2
u/Horror_Bob 2d ago
Will never be on the streets with those thrusters. Remember, the thrusters moving an entire car have to put out enough force to, well, move an entire car. The thing you're about to collide with will absolutely be hit with an insane amount of force anyway. A child walking by on the sidewalk is getting splattered with 18,000lbs of force when those things go off. Rear thrusters would shatter the windshield of any car behind it. This is for stunt courses only essentially.

How would anyone even control that?
You might think "With AI, stupid!" but there's no way in hell that Tesla is going to accept the legal liability if something goes wrong. They don't even want to maintain their own fleet of robotaxis because they don't want to accept the financial liability of managing a fleet.
1
u/Electrical-Today-258 1d ago
I mean, that's literally the point. Some Blackrock bigwig already posted a screen cap of their $500k receipt. It's meant to either be an easy way for money laundering or a way to flex gross wealth on a product that may never actually see production.

Iâm very interested in how much thrust was needed for the Demo. There is no way on gods green earth that the EV Drive did that or powered it. Iâm betting itâs a scooped out roadster with a couple of tanks of highly combustible gas highly pressurized and a lift and steer program and joystick.
I keep thinking of the film Sorcerer where they were hauling nitro for some reason looking at this

Itâs really interesting to see how people are reacting from both sides. Either this was one of the most incredible moments of our lives, or it was just a dumb shit that any other car companies could do.
2
u/Affectionate_Pay_391 2d ago
Itâs amazing how there are so few people looking at it objectively for what it was. Is it cool? Sure. Is it a flying car? No. No need to glaze Elon. Is it practical? No. Will you ever see this on the road? No. Could the tech be used for a future feature on other cars? Possibly. Was this the reveal of a car that will be mass produced? No. Will he seek a few for $1million each? Yea.
I just hate how people are lowering the standard what a âflying carâ is just to glaze Elon. This is as much a âflying carâ as a whale breaching is a âflying fishâ. I have a general idea of what people expect when they say âflying carsâ. This ainât it.
1
u/TriiCop 2d ago
You wouldnât consider the weight brothers first plane to be a flying machine just saying đ itâs a glider at best
1
u/mgtkuradal 1d ago
The wright brothers were revolutionary because we went from âflying is not possible for humansâ to proving that it was absolutely possible.
The difference here is that weâve had the technology to build something like Tesla has for many years. Nobody does it though because it doesnât really gain you anything and there are simply better ways to do it if your goal is a flying âcarâ. Any system that relies on thrusters is going to have an extremely limited fuel supply and be crazy expensive, hence why other companies are building what are essentially quadcopters
1
u/TriiCop 1d ago
You⊠realize hot air balloons existed for over 120+ years before the Wright Brothers first flew right? In 1783. We were able to fly longgg before their first plane flew. We reached altitudes of over 36,000 feet in those hot air balloons before the wright brothers first flew
You also donât think thereâs any practical applications we can use this stuff in other fields by further developing it? You donât think that this could be significantly improved after a decade?
Engines existed for many years before the wright brothers first flew, why didnât anyone invent an airplane before then?
1
u/mgtkuradal 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yeah, hot air balloons, famous for their ability to control where you are going. Nobody had invented airplanes yet⊠because nobody had invented it. Thatâs exactly my point. They created something that nobody else had done before. Tesla put thrusters on a car, but flying cars have existed well before they did this and thereâs good reason they havenât gained popularity. And those are systems that can actually sustain flight, not just jump over something and do sick kickflips. This is effectively equivalent to a hot air balloon.
The only application I see is in a military setting or for high-profile individuals who are in dangerous areas. This will never reach the average consumer. Iâd like to see them put this system on a fully loaded humvee or armored car and not just a shell of a coupe.
1
u/Splat-a-pus 2d ago
No, it was clearly a dumb stunt. The car was on wires. No fucking thing using propulsion ever moves that smoothly
1
u/habfranco 2d ago
I think itâs something in the middle. Itâs incredible shit that no other car companies could do, not only because they donât have the capability to do it, but also they donât have the cash to afford building vanity projects that have zero real world applicability, and they also have to answer to serious investors.
