Software question Is a Steam Deck worth it for $267?

I'm at a pawn shop and found a 256GB Steam Deck for $267. Could someone tell me what I should ask or do to find out if it's worth it?

It looks good aesthetically.

Yep, even if you use it as a pc it is worth it.

Ye, for sure grab it. Electronics aren't going to be cheaper in the foreseeable future and this is already a pre-hike price.

Yes. Nothing to think about. Even if you don't like it, you'll probably be able to sell it for more.

Yeah, thats a PRE Insanity price long as it works properly that is a steal. You can easily swap out the 2230 NVME to a 1 or 2 Terrabyte yourselr

Don't worry, it's probably gone by now . Or it's broken.

A pawn shop that doesn't look online for pricing is ridiculous and if they did they'd find that they go for much more. My guess is broken, but they don't realize how repairable Steam Decks are.

Expect to do an operation on it if you do get it.

Even if parts are broken, if would still be a good price, as long as not too much is damaged.

Without mobo damage, worth it. Screen maybe would be a few hundred, but that would be obvious. Other stuff, Valve is pretty good about making them repairable.

I paid like 280 2 years ago for a used 64gb and then put a 1tb in it.

I have one already and I’d grab it anyway

Thats a good buy for sure. I just sold my 512gb for 500 a few weeks ago and I paid 500 for it a year ago when I bought it used. If you need more storage space, just add a 1tb micro sd card and you'll be fine for awhile.

u/PerkyPangolin 8d ago

You write like you haven't seen the current micro SD prices 😅

1

u/Mopar907AK 8d ago

I just ordered a 1tb. I know how bad it is. But even still, at 270 for a steamdeck and another 150- 160 for a 1tb sd card, its still a damn good price for a 1tb steamdeck.

Honestly he should buy a different console with a tb microSD in it and sell the console. Can find switches with a 1tb for less than 180$ on ebay. And then sell the switch for close to cost as possible.

He would be in it for about 440 bucks. The current cheapest model steam sells is the 512gb. At 790. At today's prices, op would have a 1 tb model for half price. I got my 1tb micro sd card on amazon last week for 170. Yes its expensive, but so is a brand new steamdeck.

Go back and get it NOW!!!!! that's a damn steal for a working steamdeck

Test it before buying

It's good price, I bought like new one, under warranty for $320 just 1 month ago

1

u/ichhalt159753 4d ago

yes. I calculated the steamdeck to be equivalent to a 2012 gaming PC in power and console wise it sits between XBox 360 and PS4, so even power wise it's a bargain!

1

u/Bigggizzzle 3d ago

Hell yeah I paid 400

1

u/DustySweaters 3d ago

Got my used lcd 512 for $539 usd(after tax). the smaller storage they had at that shop were still over $400

1

u/Mediocre_Chipmunk_48 3d ago

That's a steal grab it. So worth it I have one and love it. Paid way more when it was new

The thing is there will be other things coming out in 2027-2028 at that price range with better power maybe, but as with steam platform itself, the strongest unique selling point is not the product, but the community. Just don't expect to run any games ultra settings. You don't get this for graphics, you get it for convenience!

1

u/toneyhauk 9d ago

LOL you think a device with similar power is going to release for ~$300 two years from now? Did you just come out of hibernation?

0

u/MT42019 9d ago

Did you just ignore the second hand market you? 400-500, whatever, who gives a flying F. Find another device with a better community than the deck. That's the main point. There's a reason valve confidently bumped up the prices, they know that too.

Optimistic, aren't we.

Hes right graphics suck yet playing slay of spire while on the road at work is convenient
