I have a heavily modded LCD Steam deck and a Nintendo fan. I have the clear shell/rgb mod and glow in the dark buttons on my console and play with the Nintendo layout. I am tired of confusing my X/Y buttons because what is written on the buttons isn’t what it is in games but don’t want to lose the see through-ish look and glow.
Does it exist a Nintendo layout transparent glow in the dark ABXY button swap?? I am sadly picky about stuff that I use daily and the options I have seen are either the transparent glow in the dark (what I have currently) or solid color nintendo layout buttons.
Any help is greatly appreciated and as a first time poster here please let me know if this is the right place to ask and/or don’t understand the rules of the subreddit right :)

I wanted to install Arch on this motherboard, however every time I use my USB C hub the deck crashes on boot. If I don't use the hub and connect the charger directly to the board it works just fine, with the issue that you have to have a keyboard connected to the deck with doesn't work when the usb c port is already occupied.
So the issue seems to be the hub.
Does anyone know a hub I can use without the steam deck battery connected or maybe another workaround?
Thanks in advance :)

Im needing a new c_l cable that bit that connects the left control board to the right, because my controlls on my left side doesn't work at all, I've read up on it and ordered a similar spec cable that Reddit recommended but it still doesn't work, I tried my original cable which was corroded and bent, and I was getting some response from the left touchpad, Ive looked everywhere for an official cable but absolutely no where sells one.

I looked at deckhd but it was listed as no linger available. My screen is okay, touch stopped working randomly tho. Tried all resetting tricks I found online it never worked again.
Thank you!

For the 95% of the time you don't need the back buttons.
As for the grip, maybe either you bring the grip along if you need it in your pack, but most of the time you can fit this better in most bags. Take it a step further and make the sticks screw in as well like how DJI drones do it.
For me, I like transforming things, so I fell like someone can engineer a fold flat grip that can fold in and becomes the grip.

It’s an OLED. Know that makes a difference.

Ive changed the GPU and CPU frequencies only in the bios like your supposed to, have the watts up to 18 have plenty of room for cooling, why won't my CPU go up to the 3.8ghz I set? My GPU is happy to go up to 1.8ghz if I up the wattage so I'm just so confused about what I'm doing wrong?

The SteamBoy is now fully functional! Took a while, but here we are.
As expected, the display was a bit of a challenge. But it was not nearly as impossible as some led me to believe. I'll make a post about the technical details soon, but for now, enjoy some Clair Obscur gameplay.

Its apparently a 10 pin layout which is annoying to find online. I have a console repair place close to my that says they can easily do the soldering work to replace it if I can source them the part.
I sadly snapped my micro sd card in half and destroyed the port when I took off the shell to swap all my buttons and thumb sticks out for custom colored ones.

My old screen got broken (screen was flashing on one side) so I got a new one from here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G6DLQ6XH?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title , but unfortunately it is not working. I'm trying to figure out if I somehow installed it wrong or if these screens simply don't work. I even got a replacement from them after I told them it wasn't working the first time and the new screen still isn't functioning.
I hooked it up to a 2nd monitor and the system is responding to touch and it is recognized in desktop mode as being there, but no image on the screen.
I tried CMOS reset, updating the bios, and a factory reset, and still nothing.
Should I just return the screen and get another (from another company) or is there something else I can try?

I have never posted on here before so I have no clue what I’m doing. I have no clue what I’m doing in general. I feel like cheats use to be so easy when I was younger but now I don’t get the time to research and learn the terminology. I love playing video games and I know people hate cheaters but I’m a mom and I get no time for myself, maybe an hour at night. I want to relax and play but I don’t have time for the grind. I usually waste that hour not even playing just looking up videos how to install software to cheat. I have tried every cheating software but somehow can never get them to work. Well when I first got my steam deck I got stardew valley cheats to work but I don’t even remember how I did that. I have so many things downloaded like wemod, modengine, cheat deck, deckyloader, ect but I have never been able to actually use them. Somehow then never work. And I “$upport” the site each time not just downloading for free. If you get what I mean. (It wouldn’t let me post when I said it a different way) Like today I was trying to download plitch (I got pro) (thought I’d give that a try it says it has the cheats for the game I want) and some how now fucked up protontricks so I thought I’d uninstall it and reinstall it and it won’t redownload so now I’m like fuck. I probably have fucked up my steam deck. All I wanted was to play harvest moon winds of anthos with infinite stamina and to stop time once in a while like I did with stardew. Can someone please help me. I know this wasn’t really a direct question but I don’t know what I’m doing wrong to ask how to fix it. I’m sorry.

I just bought my first Steam Deck Oled 512 GB and I really want to take good care of it.
I have a hard time finding a good quality cover and thumb grips (I am in Denmark). I would like the cover in either hard plastic or silicone, but I am open for suggestions.
As for looks - I would love a pastel pink, pastel green or brown/beige if possible.
Do you guys have any good advice for where to buy?
Thnx

I'm at a pawn shop and found a 256GB Steam Deck for $267. Could someone tell me what I should ask or do to find out if it's worth it?
It looks good aesthetically.

My lcd steam deck screen has some dead pixels and I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations on either Ali or Amazon sellers for a replacement screen.
I also got a replacement shell ordered since I’m already tearing it apart, but wondering what other upgrades I should consider doing on top of the screen repair and shell swap.

Hi all, I've been thinking of starting a business doing mods, repairs, refurbs, etc of the Steam Deck, controllers, and other consoles and electronics in general.
Is this a good business to be in? How would one start about finding customers? What are some important things to think about?
I'm really good at modding, refurbs, and electronics. I can do microsoldering, and while I'm not currently set up for reflow and reballing, I could see myself having that capability in short order, since I know how to do it.
I've been watching videos of content creators like Macho Nacho, The Retro Future, Adrian Black, RMC, etc and their refurb videos are always fun, and I'm pretty sure I can do a job that's just as good or better than them.
Shell swaps and screen upgrades are not a problem and I have original PTM7950 imported from Japan, so steam deck repastes and cooling mods are a thing I could be doing as well.
How would you guys start? What's the best way of doing this?
I've attached a couple photos of Steam Decks I modded, the first one has a DeckHD screen swap, a full shell swap, a cooling upgrade (PTM7950, better fan) and an SSD upgrade, and the other one has a cooling and ssd upgrade as well, and a CNC milled alu backplate (the fan barely spins up, even in demanding titles - and even then it's very quiet). It has the controversial fan grate, but actually the insides are cooled much better than in a stock deck because of the massive heat soak from the metal back plate right to the motherboard.
Any specks of dirt you see under the transparent case is due to the deck simply being in daily use since years.
I would appreciate any tips on how to go forward establishing a business like this.
PS I hope this doesn't go against rule 3 (self promotion) - I don't have a business, I'm just trying to figure out how to set one up, and I'm hoping to hear from people what they're looking for.
Thanks!

Hi All,
I've had my LCD Deck since launch pretty much and I love it. It hasn't given me any issues except for the little plastic ring around the joystics peeling off - which I fixed by adding some caps.
During a short trip, my right joystic started acting up: I thought it was drift but it was something else (basically it wouldn't registed complete move to the left, but everything else worked well).
Somehow I've returned from my trip and it's working now with no issues again, but I already ordered GuliKit HAL joystic replacements (for LCD) and I'm wondering if I should replace them anyway.
How hard is it? Do I risk messing up/screwing my Deck? I've fiddled with hardware before but I haven't done it in years. On one hand I look forward to opening the Deck, cleaning it inside (I have a pet dog) and installing new HAL joystics. But on the other, I'm a bit worried about not doing it right.
I've even bought a small kit of tools to do it, am I worrying too much?

So apparently this is a thing? I have the og square fan on my lcd, iv noted that I've of the screws don't line up, but will a old fan fit in my version? As i can't fund any info if it fits both lcd vetsions or not, also any downsides ? And is the oled fan 6v where the lcd is 5v?I'm just sick and tired of the fan noise lol,

Short story, got bad migraines for anything other than IPS displays, but the og LCD is pretty bad. Is there a third party replacement up to the quality of the ROG ally etc?

Ive seen the LCD model work with just the main board and the fan
Unfortunately I have a main bored and a fan
But it won't boot
Keeps getting an error and restarting

Hi all. I mod steamdecks pretty regularly (re-shells, custom painted vents, soldered sticks etc). I know my way around a SteamDeck. I recently wanted to try PTM 7950 as a thermal paste replacement.
But I always run into this issue where when I apply any thermal paste in the steamdeck, there is an initial pump out that coats the small chips surrounding the APU and then the OS will throttle OR the steam deck will fail to boot and cycle the fan for a few hours (for anyone else having this exact symptom list, the solution is usually to redo your paste, add a lot less and tighten things in a star pattern, and then wait with the steamdeck plugged into a charger for 5-8 hours before turning on).
But here’s my issue. No matter how many tutorials or guides I follow on repasting a deck, I get the same mild ‘recalibration’ across most of the decks that I’ve worked with. I actually can’t even cut PTM to the full APU size because it’ll pump out when it liquifies on the first phase change and commit the same throttle I’m talking about.
And it’s usually only the first boot up with new paste that’s the most buggy. And again, I think it’s because that phase change moves the paste rapidly as it settles the first time.
So if it’s this common then someone else has to have experienced this. If anyone knows what I’m talking about please tell me what I’m doing wrong. I watched like 5 YouTube tutorials about how to apply ptm and followed the instructions religiously and yet nobody else has talked about this.

I know there’s been a few AirTag posts. I wanted to share this quick one that I was impressed with.
I found that the AirTag is too bulky to sit in nicely. I just bought a generic compatible tracker from a large online retailer. It comes in a neat little package, fits perfectly over the battery and lasts a year on charge.
I did see they also do a wireless charging version which would satisfy some people’s requirement of not opening the deck to recharge it.
I’m happy with a 12 month maintenance cycle. Let’s me go in clear dust and check the battery isn’t bulging.
I also considered Jerry rigging it into the SD’s battery. But decided that I prefer having a separate battery that can be used if the SD goes dead. Also less work on my part.

In desktop mode it's easy to go into the monitor settings and flip the screen, but it doesn't affect game mode. Does anyone know if it can be done?
Since I know someone will ask why, I planning out how to put the SteamDeck components into a new shell, and it might be better for me if the SD card slot was on the top.

Hey everyone I have an LCD steamdeck the fan sometimes goes bananas on heavy games wondering if theres a good aftermarket alternative
or
Ive heard the OLED model's fan being quieter than the LCD model's is it possible to just drop in an OLED fan in my LCD model?
