Developer Thanks to player demand my game is now Steam Deck compatible

I recently released my first game Perihelion: Rogue Orbit. After launch, roughly 10% of buyers either asked about Steam Deck support or reported problems running it there. That was much more than I expected.

So I got to work. I spent a bit over a week ironing out performance issues and adding full controller support.

It's a good bit of fun, and thanks to the community it's fully tested and much enjoyed. The photo was provided by a player so I could share the excitement :D

Check it out on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4809810/Perihelion_Rogue_Orbit/?utm_source=reddit_organic

Excellent work. I found adding controller support took a while with my own. Looking at the screenshot, you have a lot of small text which I would find difficult to read. Have you thought about adjusting the font size/UI for the smaller screen? I know I uninstall so many excellent looking games on the deck as the text is just too small or indistinct for me.

Thanks! I've done some scaling for smaller resolutions. What you see in the gif in the OP is from my macbook. Attached here is it running at 1280x720 on an old linux laptop which is close to what you'd see on a Steam Deck. I'd love to know which bits you think need some work.

That would still look very small to me as the physical deck screen is about quarter the size of my laptop screen, and 1280x720 is what I'm aiming at for deck too, but my genre is different (word game) so I can up the font sizes everywhere (see some latest screenshots here https://purplepup.itch.io/word2word/devlog/1581898/v07-now-available). Other than font size I think the colours seem to get lost against the black background a little. Could you have a 'bright' option for the UI?

The jpeg compression has certainly made the contrast far worse than it actually is 😅 There's definitely some room to bump font sizes a bit more which I'll do. Thanks!

Yeah! As you play through each run you get to upgrade your ship. After each run you unlock different special abilities you can use for the next ones.
