Question Why laws just don't force them to release the server apllication?

Even if with they don't disclose the source code?

just sell it!

And the price can be high.

Or, the sold server app can have a coherent player limit (based on expected simultaneous multiplayer interactions) to lower the price to a value that makes sense for the player that intends to host a small server.

It could be like 10 users for LAN license.

It could be 1 user and very cheap if you just want to play offline single player mode.

and don't mess with us!

And don't they dare to release the server app so messed that the playability becomes degraded... The law must enforce to keep the quality: or they release the original server app or they remove just enough without destroying our experience.

our dreamssss

Because to trash our money (and our dreams... Our DREAMSsssss) is absurd!

I never more bought anything that is online only, to not get to like it and BOOM it is suddenly gone.

Business man don't love games as we do. They are on it only for the money. If they ever played a game publicly, it was fake! They don't understand they are destroying what keeps us happy, and still they want us to shutup!

a promoting site

We need a site promoting "never ending safe games to buy so you can get attached to forever" that have at least a LAN mode option (that is equivalent to offline if no-one else joins).

Further arguments and alternatives:

Fully Functional server executable without only the database secrets to prevent other devs coping the unique hidden ideas.

No need to exactly release the server app to the public but the server should be reactivatable by player's paying for it's uptime

A promise to keep the server up for at least like 1 year after you purchase. Stop selling if there are shutdown plans or otherwise devs will have to refund by law. Read here.

Wait you just give me an idea! The server application doesn't need to come to player's hands at all!

If they must remain inside AWS, the law just can enforce the last version shall be reactivated if players join forces ro re-hire the server up time!

I mean, developers stop paying AWS, but players shall just be able to continue this payment.

So if you have just a few connections, it may even be free as I read, the free tier.

if you rilling to spend the $$$. millions to run these the game devs are happy to keep them running. The issue is that the game Dev is no longer making the money.

AFAIK they close cuz they are making less money than expected, and not making no money. This is just a business mess, lack of love for games.

As I said, if there is little ppl, the server could be activated in a free tier no cost. If there is a lot of ppl, we could join forces thru some patreon or paypal to keep the server running, but only the server, giving money only to the server uptime alone. Not to devs as they abbandoned the game and won't improve it anymore.

If they return to maintain the game again then that changes back to what it was before.

if they are not charging a sub or a season pass access they are making $0 when they stop selling the game.

If they are selling a sub or time access stop killing games does not apply to them as the online access was not part of your game purchase.

there is no free teir of AWS or other cloud provider that is large enough to even start up and run a modern large AAA game server.. This is not something that is just a single docker container, your looking at a infrastructure cost (even with 0 users) of $10k+ per month minimum

server uptime for these servers has a huge cost, you do not manager 100+ players in a level etc without a lot of complexity.

And some people say it the dev problem because they did not design the game better so it sever could easy be host this all what some people want with stop killing game

But people also still want the games to be as they are today. They do not want to go back to games with 29 players per lobby and small maps. If you take a a map designed for 100 players and only have 20 it is not a good playable experience.

And some people say it not my problem it thr dev problem that why I want stop killing game to become a law so dev have to solve

The only viable solution if you write a law like that is to move pall online features into sub/season pass that bypasses the law.

All I was talking about to make a law say a game must have a way when support end to support others sever and the software be available to do that

still much simpler to move all online to sub/season pass that bypasses such a law, then bundle 1 years of season pass with the games purchase so players dont really notice.
