Friend, do not make posts and expect instant responses. Here are some things that are going on:
John Kane of the Pennsylvania Senate is introducing the "POG Act Pennsylvania" to the Pennsylvania Senate. The California POG act has been stymied as you likely know, but it's being reintroduced next year for another, hopefully more successful attempt.
The UFC-Que Choisir lawsuit against Ubisoft is ongoing.
The EU parliament are working on getting SKG style protections added to the Digital Fairness Act, regardless of what the Commission have to say on the matter.

As of a couple hours ago, NY-15 Representative Torres has also introduced a federal-level bill to do much the same thing, requiring games to have offline servers released before being shut down.

We’re just fucked over, they’re going to win thru bribery they have to cheat the system rather than compromise.
This is the reason why you would be doomed. The idea that you cant win and invent a bunch of reasons why is what saps morale and ability to organize.
The fact is SKG didnt play to win. The movement was warned they needed to be better prepared, that they need to do a lot of work to explain the issue to those in government, to be ready to combat efforts from the industry. The response, official and on this subreddit, was no we dont lol.
Industry showed up ready to ball. They made papers and released them to lawmakers. They challenged every single point SKG made and illustrated how catastrophic poorly worded regulation could be for the industry. They scheduled meetings and explained in depth their position. The only official response from Ross and the movement was to make a YouTube video to laugh at VGE, assuming lawmakers would just take the side of SKG and not be persuaded by anything.
As a result VGE won.
There is no evidence of bribery or corruption. This result isnt even necessary for it. SKG showed up with a bare minimum mindset and got a bare minimum result. This should be a wake up call that organizers need to get serious. Instead they have allowed a defeatist attitude to fester in their community and allow the widespread belief the entire EU political org is corrupt, and if the org is corrupt it doesnt make sense to do any activism, so there is no options left.
SKG and the community needs a dramatic 180 to succeed. If that doesnt happen? Yeah its doomed.

Do you know anything about the behind the scenes political maneuvering being done by SKG? No, you don't. You're looking at the outcome and working backwards from there to explain it

I know what the public statements were and the actions they did take. So if you want to go with Well Ross was clearly lying they were doing way more and never told anyone and instead told us the opposite I mean I cant offer any rebuttal

I would not say we are doomed... yet at least. The thing about movements historically is that they often take a long time to succeed because the people in power (who are often corrupt as you point out) will always put obstacles in our way to stop progress that benefits the people. The battle SKG was fighting was never going to be an easy victory because it rightfully challenges a status-quo that exclusively benefits the corporate side of the games industry.
My advice is to just keep pushing. Inform people in your life about the issue SKG wants to solve regarding games being destroyed to anyone who you believe may be interested, then tell those people to tell others. The people in power fear a populous that is fully aware of their corruption and lies. It is exactly why they invest so heavily into propaganda in the first place, to trick and misinform the public so they are less likely to be held accountable or to be held to a better standard.
