Discussion Best Combat?

I've tried the below games but the only one's that really seemed to have good combat that didn't seem really basic or boring after a while was Grounded & V Rising...

Abiotic Factor

Enshrouded

Grounded

Palworld

V Rising

Valheim

Are their any other survival games out there worth a try with good combat?

I always say Abiotic Factor and V Rising are my top pick for the best 2 survival crafter games for a reason.

Abiotic Factor is the vibes and the level design, the world is just simply amazing. It doesn't need super deep combat because you're a scientist, your mind is your weapon. So setting traps and building solutions is the true depth of the combat, besides all the direct murder options.

But V Rising is my second because it has combat like no other. If you've never beaten a run on Brutal difficulty, you've got to do it. They change some of the fights and being behind on gear level means you have to master the bosses and areas and have a good build and mastery of the game. It's very satisfying.

Combat isnt really the strong suit of 99% of survival games. If you want some good combat go Nioh 2 or DMC5.

There's none or else I'd be playing it right now

Soulmask has decent combat. Specialties for weapon types. It can be pretty challenging.

RuneScape Dragonwilds is decent so far early game

Dune Awakening has guns, most survival is melee focused so that’s different

Soulmask is probably worth a look. The combat has more depth than most survival games, especially once you start switching between weapon types and builds.

Ah I'll keep my eye on this one once it's closer to 1.0!

It’s a great game but combat is super basic

I think Icarus has added quite a bit to make combat interesting now.

Also not sure if you like combat in adjacent genres like extraction games, Stalker/Project Silverfish etc

Has AF got good combat? I've opened the first portal and now I've got the fog effect in my base. But so far I'm just bashing monsters with a metal pipe, trading blows. I love the atmosphere of the game, but i miss Valheim combat. And first person camera is pretty annoying ngl.

please, third person camera is even worse.

AF is excellent, but the combat is definitely not the game's strong suit, that’s for sure.
That said, to actually miss the combat in Valheim, wow... it’s abysmal, especially for a game where that’s the primary focus...

Nah combat in valheim is great imo, it's all about positioning, dodge roll and parry. Almost soulslike combat system which is the best combat system

The term "Souls-like combat" doesn't mean anything... These are mechanics that existed long before the Souls games.

And I really struggle to see how anyone could consider the combat in Valheim "good", given how basic and clunky it is, with very limited options. Not to mention the completely brain-dead enemy AI, or the fact that fighting on even the slightest slope is absurdly poorly implemented.

Thanks for the lecture about soulslike combat lol . Anyways I find it fun so I consider it to be good, basic and clunky as it is. All this doesn't make AF combat good, bashing monsters mindlessly.

It’s an awesome survival game but definitely has the weakest combat on the list.
