Image/Video happy 1 year anniversary, Deadbeat!
still remember when this album came out, and i stayed up all night re-listening to it over and over again. i genuinely don’t understand the hate for Deadbeat, and i think the only reason people dislike it is because it doesn’t sound like his earlier music. this baffles me, because you can’t expect someone to stay the same for over 15 years. i’m glad Dracula and Loser and gaining some attention because it could show people how good Deadbeat actually is.

After the Hyperdrama collabs with Justice, I saw this coming from a mile away. It’s good stuff. Not brilliant but solid. Dudes gonna get much better at the doodads as time passes

I was hoping it would have grown on me a bit more by now. I have pretty similar feelings about it right now as on release.

Wasn’t the biggest fan of the album until I went to his concert. Obsolete and my old ways again sounded sooo good live.

It definitely threw me off when I first listened to it all. Some songs were fire and some I didn’t understand how it could be so different from the usual stuff. I gave it a little time and now Deadbeat is goated. I still think it’s my least favorite of them all, BUT that does not mean I hate it. I genuinely think that every song from every album is phenomenal. Remixes and collaborations aside, he is by far my favorite musician

Its a good album surely aged better than I expected but still I prefer his older works.
Although ethereal connection still hits like it did an year back what a song.

This album is so important to me

Same. I don’t listen to it a ton these days but this time last year, it really pulled me out of a funk that I was in for a while

Same. Not bc it got me out of something but bc it sort of became the soundtrack to what I had went through, but at the end of it. Like each song just hits specific moments on the head of the nail.

Around the time it came out I had an odd view on it since I was still getting into Tame, I saw it kind of as a demo album for some reason just since I didn’t grasp much of any context but in like a months time I definitely started to enjoy the album a lot. The only thing I ever disliked was some of the vocals (how they were sung) but they grew on me eventually

Definitely has grown on me, and I’ve come to love it for what it is. I rate it above Innerspeaker maybe, but cohesively as an album it’s his weakest piece of work. Lots of good ideas but it’s just not all pulling in the same direction as his other albums ://

The album doesn't get any better if you get out of Reddit

This to me is the opposite of how I feel about blink-182’s album Neighborhoods.
I love both artists, but when blink had that album I absolutely didn’t enjoy it. Then a year or so later I fell in love, and that is one of my favorite albums of theirs besides Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (and everything else tbh).
Tame I fell in love with Innerspeaker. Up to Currents and even The Slow Rush, and everything else. Then Deadbeat came out and I was absolutely not encapsulated.
I enjoyed a few of the songs but not to the extent to enjoy the album. I gave it the same amount of time as I did with blink and I cannot say I feel the same.
Album listens for Deadbeat is less than three, and that’s because I don’t feel the pull to that album. This is all person to person to judge, but for me I was well put off by it: not saying I wouldn’t listen to another Tame song again, just the expectation isn’t there anymore at the moment.
Blink-182 is my first love, and Tame Impala is my second, (STRFKR a super close third) and even if disappointed I give room and time to see another banger.
Like I am gonna Nangs 24/7 until I get another shot of that. Love ya Kevin, can’t wait to see what’s next

I just can't enjoy this album as whole. the first 5 songs are very promising then it just fades away for me. it does make me quite excited for Kevin's future house music output though. I am optimistic

Yeah he didn't say the worst album. I can clearly see how it can be the most disappointing

like you said, i don’t understand the hate. i loved it from the moment it came out till now. i think the song that grew on me the most was ethereal connection and piece of heaven because at first i don’t know why but i didn’t really like them, now i actually really now like them.

his weakest but still has many special songs on it, i went on a roadtrip across canada at the time when this came out, i listened to the cd all the time on the road, so it's already pretty nostalgic for me

Not my cup of tea, but that's okay. End of Summer is starting to grow on me.
I'm hoping for a change of direction on his next album. Maybe something trip-hop, that would be pretty cool.

Happy birthday to this controversial album. I feel the same way about it as I did upon release.
My Old Ways and Loser are the standout tracks here.

Incredible album—so grateful for it and that I got to see this tour twice! My Old Ways is exceptional. End of Summer and Afterthought are also special to me ❤️

no, i dislike this album because it doesn’t sound like tame impala. all of his previous music sounds like his, this could have easily been ghostwritten and we’d have no idea. it’s lower quality, energy, and production, which is an objective truth. if you appreciate it im glad, because someone had to
