Discussion Finding friends and socializing irl(long read )
I'm 15 F and apart from my close 4 person friend group, I don't really have other people I can call close friends apart from a few classmates. I don't do any extracurriculars so all my social interactions are in school, and I was just thinking if my friends switch schools, I'll literally have no body because my group doesn't have devices or constant internet to communicate and catch up.
But not even in a superiority complex kind of way I'm so different from everyone around me. I'm the class topper and, I want a friend who I can have debates or discussion about stuff like colonialism (I'm west African)and other random topics and 5 mins later talk about verity variants(weird choice) ,and it's so weird cuz the first 2 members of the group are also very smart ,and we became friends when they joined my school before we even knew that we all topped our classes. Our positions are currently me as first(topping class), friend 1 second, friend 2 third and our last member who joined a year ago isn't very academically as successful but she is still just as important to me as my others .but I feel just avoiding interaction with others to stay in my group alone isn't a very good trait. I realized when I saw my friend group having several other friends outside the main squad that I need to socialize more. And it's not like I'm a loner who doesn't talk to others I can hold and start conversation but I'm so different from other and so similar to my friends. majority of my school are Nepo baby esc but not exactly,at least they come from money and I'm not like poor I would say I'm upper middle class and my family is very financially stable, but my parents imo raised me kind of sheltered if that's the word and since the year started I've become more social and others have pointed it out to so I'm know I'm improving .but what can I do to make more friends meet new people. I don't have neighbors my age. I'm thinking of joining a fellowship or a sport community but I don't know any tips to help social interaction irl.
