PC Tips??
Hi guys, I just started my first game in terraria like ever, it’s a first experience and I’m really enjoying it, I can see what the hype is about but since I’m still new I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing. I’ve mainly just been running around and digging, I’ve found a few chests already. Do you have any tips for me?? This is my base right now.

Talk to the guide. If you've played Minecraft then you should know the gist by now

If you build a house, a structure: -7 blocks wide internally -6 blocks tall internally -Has background walls of any hand-placed type(look for any "walls" in your crafting menu while near a workbench) -Has a workbench of any type -Has a chair of any type placed touching the workbench -Has a light source
Then the guide will respawn in the house, talk to him and he will help

Use background walls. You can craft them out of various materials such as wood or stone

Just dig down. This aint minecraft so you can afford it. In Terraria, we'd call a downwards hole you use to get as deep in the mines as possible a "hellevator" (no foreshadowing here, trust). Going caving like that should naturally route you towards the next pre hardmode bosses for preogression and also give you a bunch of resources to both be able to fight them and be able to find the rest of them at the surface. Good luck!

For that house you have. Chop a few trees or mine some stone. Replace the dirt with those blocks of wood or stone and then craft wall blocks with the wood or stone and fill in the back leaving no gaps if you want light going through then make some glass walls or fence walls.
Craft a chair and place it somewhere I could be wrong but I think if you place a couple of platforms you can put the chair on it and it should count and then put atleast 1 torch inside the house and you will have an npc house. The guide will be the first then if you make more you can get other npcs such as the merchent.

Don't make it a square or rectangle. Since you are using grass I'd suggest making it look more like a hobbit hole by rounding out the top. Add some background walls with some windows. And some boreal furniture maybe. Then decorate with some potted plants

1-Dont rush to complete the game. Take it easy 2-Use wood for house and also in order for npc to move into the house you need to have a door, chair, table, proper lighting(atleasr 1 torch placed inside) and the house needs to have walls 3)Dont get rid of plants and seeds.you can make a small or big farm later on . 4)Dont just dump all your stuff into a chest, sort them out based in type. Like one chest will only have weapons, the other will have ores and ingots, like that.

On your equipment load out there's a tiny house option above. Select it, then select the ? Icon and click on your desired spot to build a house

Make your base bigger. Collect chests that you find and emptied them
Wall up the base. Walls are crafted from the blocks you have (eg dirt or stone) and then you can place them within your room
That particular spot is not flat but you can use all the dirt and stone you've been digging up to flatten it. That will help with travelling and fighting things near your base
Deliberately plant more pumpkins. Collect them over time. They make a nice food buff

Requirements for housing:- An enclosed space. Must not have naturally generated background walls in that enclosed space. Must have an entrance. Must have a light source. Must have a chair. Must have a table or workbench. Must have player placed background walls fully covering the back(this part is not true, but it's complicated and it's better to just fully cover it anyway so yea). Must be of a reasonable size (definitely bigger than your current house).
