Model Y Juniper: Has anyone swapped a laminated rear side windows for tempered glass?
I'm seriously considering a Model Y Premium, but I'm worried about what happens if the car loses power after a crash or fire. The exterior handles won't work without power, and since the windows are all laminated, a standard window punch won't break them from inside or out. If someone is unable to use the manual release, there may be no quick way in or out. Or for bystanders to help.
Has anyone replaced the rear side windows with tempered glass (I believe that is what is installed on the standard Model Y) so there's at least two breakable windows? I'd love to hear whether it's doable? It seems like something the Tesla repair shop can do if it’s feasible. Thanks!

There are mechanical pulls on every door to get out in case of a power failure. Do some research to find out where they are. - I just noticed you addressed this. Carry on, my bad.

Idk if I would consider this to be a deal breaker. The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling SUV in the world. I can’t imagine even 1% of owners going to the dealer for a window swap.

I think making this happen is going to be difficult. Buy the handles/cables on amazon that attach to the rear door manual door releases.
Edit: There's a post about someone who did the opposite so they have better sound deadening. Now you just need to find someone who wants to trade their naked tempered glass for your laminated. https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModelY/comments/1ls39y6/anyone_consider_retrofitting_juniper_rear/

your concern is irrational.
