Rant Threatened by r/Toronto Mods

Two days ago I posted a CP24 article linking to an individual who was removing Ted Optiz and Brad Bradford election signs. It was removed by the mods of r/Toronto.

I reposted it in this sub, and received a ban and a threat from the Mods of r/Toronto.

I haven’t been rude, I haven’t done anything wrong other than post a CP24 news article.

Is this normal?

Toronto Election Brad Bradford's $6B campaign promises

I know people here loved seeing Bro Bradford screaming at Olivia Chow during the TVO debate but it also stopped her from answering a question he was demanding from her: how she came up with $6 Billion on how much his shit would cost. I decided to take a crack at it based on numbers I could find from city and official news reports.

What Bradford intends to spend

  • $205M a year for TTC platform edge doors. City feasibility study citing $4.1B over 20 years.
  • He wants to pay all capital projects with debt financing instead of collecting funds upfront and proposed 4% annual interest payments. 4% of $205M is $8.2M a year.
  • $140M per year to hire 1000 additional police officers based on their 2026 hiring budget of hiring 143 cops for $20M in 2026. This doesn't factor in annual salary increases.
  • $75.6M a year for the 4% interest to pay for water-based capital projects that are costed at $18.9B over next 10 years since he wants to debt finance.
  • $10M in refunds to TTC riders whenever the service is delayed as per his pitch based on conservative guess of 1% of all trips being delayed by 15+ minutes from fares collected in 2025. This number is higher if more trips are delayed.
  • $10M for the police substation at Union Station. I'm estimating 25% of the cost of a full police station, which was $40M in 2011.
  • $4M to remove Scarborough rapid bus lanes, based on Eglinton East costs. This would be higher if he also rips out Bathurst and Dufferin.
  • $3.5M for consulting services by KPMG or equivalent for Bradford's line-by-line review based on what city paid for Rob Ford's gravy train report. Likely much higher since this rate was from 2011-2013.
  • $305K to rename Sankofa Square based on what it cost to change it from Yonge Dundas Square.

Revenues Bradford plans on slashing

  • $792.6M in lost revenue per year from eliminating municipal land transfer tax based on 2025 figures
  • $75M in 2027 of lost property tax revenue due to freezing residential property taxes based on 2026 figure of $3.747B, assuming 2% inflation.
  • Bradford wants to keep property tax increases in the next three years after his first at below inflation. Assuming even just 1% is knocked off, that's $37.5M per year.
  • $31.225M from 25% reduction to industrial property tax based on 2% share of $6.245B levy.

So based on this, if Bradford is elected, he wants to spend an additional $1.743B while reducing revenues by $3.52B over his four year term. That's roughly $5.26B. Not quite $6B but I also didn't factor in things like other capital projects with additional debt financing, police salary increases for the additional cops, or costs to hire someone to manage the new water corporation.

If you feel like these numbers aren't accurate and can cite better examples, feel free to contribute.

Beware of this man in the arena gardens area who thinks his dogs belong inside the children playground and will threaten anyone who even asks him polite to leave or not to smoke while leaning on the gate. Also this man will tell anyone to leave "his country".

"I followed Olivia Chow over a summer of announcements and events to try to understand how she's fared as a leader. I came back with a more fundamental question about what it means to be mayor of Toronto when real power lies elsewhere."

Is there bias against Chow simply for being female?

I’m seriously wondering if there is a bias built-in for female politicians. We don’t see any women rising to highest positions and we saw what happened in the US.

Is that happening here? Do people subconsciously believe that women should not be running the show and that A Mail will do a better job simply because of gender?

Thoughts?
