Need advice

Hi everyone! This is my first time buying winter tires, and I have no prior experience, I’d really appreciate some advice.

I drive an Corolla Cross LE AWD vehicle. I’m wondering whether you’d recommend buying winter tires from Costco or Toyota. Are there any pros and cons to either option?

Also , since I live in Toronto, would you recommend getting rust protection for my vehicle? If so, what type of rust protection is best?

Nether. Costco tire center in US is no longer a good option. Their customer service and honoring warranty is not what it was for the last 20 plus years.

Toyota dealer will overcharge for most likely inferior tire, and customer service if you need a warranty claim is anyone's guess.

In my option the best thing to do is to find good independent mechanic and order tires from a place like tirerack.

As far as rust, just make sure you wash the undercarriage of the car regularly during the winter and you will be fine.

I shopped around for tires and Toyota was running a Buy 3, Get 1 for $1. With that sale they ended up the same price as competition after adding road hazard (which in South Carolina is a non-negotiable and already had to use it 6k miles in) and then I work with my dealership for all services, not a go here for this and there for that.

Be strategic about it and it will usually come out in your favor.

Great, I'm glad it is working out for you! Honest dealers are not easy to find.

Totally agreed with that! We have three Toyota dealers in our area,

  • 1 used to be fairly decent and went to 💩 years ago.
  • 2 used to be fantastic even included oil changes for life, including at their other locations in case you were traveling but once they sold it to another person, it went corrupt and shitty as hell.
  • 3 is the furthest away from me, but I went to church with the owners for several years, never asked for any kind of special treatment, I’d mention that I went and got a car after the fact, and both mom and I have been treated with great value and respect. Service is sometimes a lengthy wait, but is ALWAYS worth it. You can tell they run an honest business from sales to service. They are truly the diamond in the rough.

Got a new Camry. Went with Costco tires and Krown rust proofing.

Would you know if Krown is good for hybrids - I know the dealerships won't do it since they can't cover the hybrid cable as a safety precaution

I have the same car.
I went with Costco & Bridgestone Blizzak's.
I'm in Canada and got a Costco gift card for $125.00... esentially buy 3, get one free

Hey, I was also looking into buying winters from them, did you have to buy rims separately, if so, were you able to get them there at Costco itself?

I am going to call them to ask but JIC if you knew
