Every character has their fans but I have (as of yet) never seen anybody have anything good to say about Ranma 1/2’s Happosai. For those who don’t know, imagine if Master Roshi was a tiny ninja goblin / gremlin with ALL of his perverted tendencies turned up to infinity. Do that and you get Happosai. Unlike Roshi and characters like him, he’s difficult to punish for his transgressions because he’s the strongest guy around which makes it harder to give him his just desserts, though karma tends to find a way to serve him right.

Happosai is so hated that most people would note that “oh no, it’s a Happosai episode” in exasperation. The latest episode got that reaction lol. It was fortunately made up for with a lot of other great things. I’m serious when I say that this guy sucks and the earlier episodes that center around him can be tiring.

Any other characters you think are universally hated?

Alright so my current thing is getting switch games for my switch 2. Naturally I would prefer having the real copies in my hand since well. Things are getting kinda concerning.

Now I don’t want the game key cards cause it’s just a licensee to download the game and not the actual games.

So my current thing is this. Some games that have released on the switch 2 are game key cards unlike when they were on switch 1.

So would it be better to get the switch 1 versions and upgrade them later? Or just download digitally

Growing up adjacent to Warhammer 40K was interesting, in that Space Marines were by far the most popular faction, but also one of the most hated. There were a lot of negative stereotypes, but the two I remembered were "powerscaling edgelords who took the fun out of everything by saying their space Marines could clear it." Or "people who are really, REALLY into the wrong parts of the Imperium of Man." Of course another part of it is just how much content they get compared to the Xenos races, but I remember those two stereotypes existing. (Also I think having the largest playerbase also means a larger sample size of potential assholes, I think.)

It actually scared me off playing Space Marines, even made me scared to try Stormcast Eternals after hearing them be called the Marines of the AoS setting. Ultimately decided to go with them because Dragons are cool, and I can paint them like FGO servants for flavor.

Playerbases are one thing (see the old tf2 server joke.) but the space Marines have me interested in similar situations, entire characters or Factions with a largely negative reputation. Playstyles can also count, but I'm mostly interested in characters, ala the Space Marines, who just have a negative reputation among folks who play the game. (IE-Honda in SF6 being a new player stomper.)

Edit: I specifically mean playable characters or Factions. Some characters and factions have negative reputations in story but I mean amongst the audience, ala space Marines.

Have been grinding out some stuff in FFXIV (the BST Crucible hairstyles in case anyone cares) so I decided to listen/watch FFXIV w/ the Girls collabs from the very start of the playlist as side monitor content.

That group is such a good vibe holy shit. Perfect perfect thing to listen to as I do other shit. I hope they play other games together omg. It really just is a podcast with Pat and a bunch of vtubers.

Anyway just felt like gushing a bit.

Watching that recent Mandalore Video on Bioshock 2 really reminded me that one of the unique charms of being the Big Daddy is being able to bully your enemies with your size and weight and seeing them splatter against the walls, in addition of throwing fireballs as well, and that's not really a common thing in video games

So I was curious if other games give you the option of playing a character with some real weight behind them.

This post was inspired by Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, as the final boss’s second phase has a remix of the Seneschal battle theme from DD1. I definitely popped off when I recognized it in between dodging lasers

Other than that, you gotta mention the Soul of Cinder from DS3 having Gwyn’s theme come on in the second phase, an absolutely incredible and beautiful way to cap off the fight without saying a word

EDIT: more on the first example, the reprise of the Seneschal theme also really illustrates the parallel between the Seneschal/Satanachia and God/Satan. On top of the classic goat imagery, the Satan equivalent in this case literally has Satan in the name. Where you once faced the God of the DD universe, now you face the devil. Brilliant music there

What a beautiful toggle. It's in the gameplay settings tab, in which you can customize the game even further beyond, either easier or harder for you with different sliders, like damage caused and damage received, higher or lower number of healing potions, higher of lower amount of XP gained, etc.

By using Respawn in front of Boss Doors, the game will now ask you if you want to respawn at the door and fight back immediately, or if you want to go back to a safe room. It's beautiful. God Bless Evil Empire and Motion Twin.

Trying to get in the spirit of the season and there's little I love more than a good monster.

Giant worms are sorely underutilized and I love them whenever I see them. Tremors kicks ass. I watched the Dune movies solely to see big worms. I only know of like 3 worm cryptids but like 500 bigfoot ones, and that disappoints me. Love those guys.

Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit to ask about the hardware specifics for such a console because it’s just that I was looking back at how Sonic 06 turned out as I wanted to get a better understanding of what made the hardware so much more difficult than the previous console.

To me, it’s kind of funny how Sony’s practices were enforced way back then regarding how they designed their hardware since the PS2 had a lot of great games made on it, but it was a bit difficult to work with, so when the next console came out around in the mid 00s, I find myself baffled at how the PS3 was made again way more difficult to use for developers.

I know it’s been almost 20 years since the dawn of the system as I just wanted to get a better understanding of what went wrong with the architecture behind the hardware itself to see just made such a console that much harder to work with for many game studios trying to use it when it was new.

So I'm watching YouTube videos about spooky things, as you do this time of year, and learned that Barnabas Collins didn't appear in Dark Shadows until like 200 episodes in. I was told this was a soap opera about vampires and they didn't have a vampire in until a year in. Are their any other characters that were added later that came to dominate the media?

So i was going through the late part of Galactic Racer and was having a blast with everyones new favorite Skrunko. Obviously I saw the lovable little asshole on some clips but i had no idea how much of a salty john he is. After I beat him in a race i got this message afterward:

Question inspired by my own experience with FFXIV the other day, where within about a 2 hour period I completed the ARR Paladin Zeta relic as a Free Trial player (yay) and then completed the Vault in Heavensward (not yay).

So for some context, in their previous altercation, Magneto and his crew were defeated after being de-aged by the “Ultimate Mutant” known as Alpha. Still seething over it, Magneto wished to get karmic revenge against the X-men by putting them through the same humiliation he felt by attaching special helmets that gave them the approximate body autonomy of an infant while also being careful for by a dotting Android nanny.

You may ask how they got out of this particular jam? Well it’s revealed that Storm was fully ambulatory and conscious from the age of 6 months old and was able to retrieve a lockpick she had hidden in her hair and free herself. Then everyone was able to team up and attack Magneto, forcing him to flee.

You could also be wonder where Professor Xavier is during this debacle? Well this happened after he Irish-Goodbye’d the X-men by faking his death so he could be the consort to an intergalactic queen. So he’s not picking up the phone.

I also wanted to include the cover of X-Men #112, even though this is technically #113, because I think it’s very funny. Wolverine needs to start watching game tape or something, because that him vs Magneto match up is like a 1:9 at best.
