It’s supposed to be ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’. Which one do you reckon it is? ‘Torn’?

Anyone have more respect for No Line on the horizon now?

Love the new stuff, it will all be my most played songs of the year.

But lots of people are saying this sound would fit in any of the post 2000s U2 albums and I can’t disagree…

Except for No Line on the Horizon. That album may be forgotten but it really stands out as a different sound in this post 2000s last five albums.

Thoughts on New Stage setup!

Post image

With only the poster to reference so far and the videos.
My guess is a mix of past setups with emphasis on
ZOO TV/Achtung baby. Seating charts will be clue too!
But, please share what you think! link below for Mark Fisher who designed many of the Great stages we have all enjoyed over the years. See link below for more about him. He passed 2013 but, he engineered some of their greatest stages so he is worthy of mention. :-)

How long does a U2 concert usually last?

Just out of curiosity, how long have U2 concerts typically lasted on previous tours, and roughly how many songs do they usually play?

Why doesn’t Adam Clayton get the same recognition as a bassist as Paul McCartney or John Entwistle?

Like his peers, Clayton has played bass on some of the most iconic songs of the 20th century. Why doesn’t he get his due flowers?

What if "The Greatest Show On Earth Tour" is something like "Stories of Surrender" Part 2?

But instead of tell us about their personal lifes, now they would tell us about their careers?

With all of these circus-themed stuff, and those circus ringmaster outfits, the tour being described as "Going through every moment of their career" + Larry's situation + the 50th anniversary + They are closer than ever of Jacknifee Lee....it made me think a lot about it.

In another post we discussed how the intention could be Bono in his role as a circus ringmaster introduce various causes, individuals, and other irish performers during the concert, allowing Larry to take a break for a big portion of the concert.

But now with these description of the tour I can imagine something between his tour Stories of Surrender and what he did in some parts of Experience Tour(before Even Better and Summer of Love for example), but better elaborated, telling stories, showing videos, moments between one moment and another, between one song and another.

I never watched something similar to this, but I don't know.

The only thing "I know" now is that won't be a usual concert...and I really hope its not.

Presale ticket limit - includes Europe/ North America?

U2.com presale FAQ says a code gets you 4 tickets: "As a paid-up U2.com subscriber you are eligible to purchase up to FOUR (4) tickets for any show or combination of shows in Latin America (for example, you can purchase 2 tickets for a show in Mexico City and 2 tickets for a show in São Paulo)."

If I get say 2 or 4 tickets to this block of shows does that mean my allocation is used up and when they announce Europe/ North America I will no longer have access to presale tickets?

Why so few South American cities?

I'm not complaining about them slowing down as they get older. My question is why they are only doing three cities. I'm not especially aware of South American geography, but I feel like there are more than three places of note in that continent. It feels like they are trying squeeze three different continents into one year, rather than make sure they fully cover each of those places.

Is three cities per leg the new normal? When they come to North America are they also doing three cities? New York, Chicago, and Montreal or something like that? Maybe just Berlin, Paris, and Dublin in Europe?

I'm all for them doing fewer shows, they are almost in their 70s after all, but I'd rather them spend more time in each area instead of cramming all these areas together. Maybe they go back to South America in 2028 or something. But why not just do the whole continent in 2027, and save North America for the next year? I don't know. What are your guys' thoughts?

My Tour Predictions - "Eras Tour" Format

With all of the teaser promotion also including pieces from past tours (Popmart Arch, Elevation Suitcase for example), I'm going to take a big swing. I think U2's next tour isn't going to be a standard format U2 setlist, I think they are going to take a page out of Taylor Swift's book and have mini vingettes of previous tours.

Imagine a 5 song set recreating Red Rocks for their early days; A simple set of 5 or so UF/JT/RH Songs; A trip through Zoo-TV (a carnival isn't complete without a belly dancer), maybe even revisit Pop-Mart; A set of their early 2000-2004 shows where they went back in scale; A few songs from 360; Etc, Etc.

Maybe trying to showcase that they have always been (or strived to be) "The Greatest Show On Earth"

Just a thought.

I hope we get a Brian Eno mix of Greatest Show on Earth released as a bonus b-side or...

... or could it be set to be the album version like WGRYWH having a 'single version'? I only bring this thought for discussion since the promo music for the tour uses a different mix of TGSOE with heavier emphasis on bass, almost sci-fi like, and Bono mentioned in the Rolling Stone article they were trying to come up with a radio edit for TGSOE (which of course usually means runtime).

Whaddya think?

Not sure who directed U2’s new video but due to strong depeche mode vibes could suggest Anton Corbijn. Halo + Ghosts Again - In your room moments in the video

The teaser they posted earlier this week was in E. The released version is in F. Do we know why? I strongly prefer the teaser version.

GSOE Video Location

It looks like the GSOE was filmed in Amargosa Valley facing southwest looking toward California (from the Nevada side of the border.) This is the same location REM used on the cover of their New Adventures in Hi-Fi album.

As we all know, the Joshua Tree cover photo was taken at Zabriskie Point - which is about 1 hour driving southwest from Amargosa.

The actual joshua tree from the Joshua Tree album is another hour drive west from Zabriskie.

As expected, Anton's visuals in the video are amazing. His style is instantly recognizable.

Wheelchair Presale Tickets

I am in the Feedback group and was wondering if anyone knows if wheelchair and carer tickets will be included in the presale? I am hoping to go to a UK or Ireland show, but haven't seen any information on accessible tickets. What are they doing in the South American shows doing for wheelchair presale tickets?
