For next semester, I was planning on taking chem 345, chem 344 genetics 466 and maybe zoology 520?
I know the chem lab by itself is a lot of work, and genetics is also difficult, so I was wondering if anyone has any idea what the workload for this would be

Does anyone have experience emailing chem 345 professors about being sick for an exam? I have been feeling terrible the last few days and it’s only gotten worse but I have an exam Monday for chem 345. I feel like I’m not even a bit prepared because I have had a hard time studying in this condition and feel like taking an exam in this condition would not be great. I am planning to email but do they typically allow you to make up the exam? or are they just going to tell me to tough it out.

Hi, I’m looking to build some new connections here at UW—Madison! I figure it’s about time I start bonding with people since I want to be able to share memories with the friends I make along the way. And yes, maybe Reddit isn’t the best place to start but I’ll test my chances.
Some facts about me:
- Female, sophomore, pre-business
- Definitely an introvert at first, but if we get closer, my extrovert side may show
- I’m an anime + k/j/c drama enjoyer & I’m sorry for putting it here to anyone who finds it corny! 😭
- Love love food
- Eldest child
Mainly looking for someone who (not required):
- Has similar interests as me
- I can study with
- I can go to the gym with (I need someone who can teach me how to use gym equipment/form and you know, discipline and motivate each other)
- Has sense of humor
- Is willing to try out food around here
- Explore campus and downtown
You do not have to meet everything on the list. I also have no preference if you’re a male or female, nor what year you are (preferably an undergrad).
I honestly just want a reason to go out, but it just sucks without having a person who you can hangout with iykyk. Please reach out to me or comment here if you are interested! I’m much more of a person who likes to keep their circle small/genuine so point is, I really don’t want to build some half-assed relationship and if that is mutual then maybe it’s right for you! This could potentially form a friend group if I have enough people interested :)

I feel so out of place here. I struggle with depression and anxiety, lately my loneliness has made me feel really hopeless. Ive been having intrusive thoughts about hurting myself or dying. I just feel alone, I haven't made any real connections here. I'm a freshman and this place is a decent distance from my home. It's completely different from where I've grown up and spent my whole life. I just want to create a real connection and stop wanting to die.

I have no friends here. I just want to meet one friend! I'm a freshman, and I have some issues with depression and anxiety which have made it increasingly harder to make real close friends. I'm very lonely and have been really struggling. I'm fine with my roommate but in general do not get along with any of her friends. I go to clubs and try to chat but not having luck. I tried to join intramural volleyball but it fell through. I just miss my home, it's so different here and no one is like anyone from where I live. I don't connect well with people I've met. I'm considering transferring if I can't make any good friends after this year. What can I do? I've never struggled like this before.

Anyone took this course before? Will the midterm exam hard? What things it may test? It's too tough to review for 8 lec note.

Hi everyone! I was looking on the UW-Madison website and it has the average ACT as 29-33. 29 is in the 25th percentile. UW is my dream school and I’m wondering if I should submit it or go test-optional. I’ve heard very mixed responses and it’s kind of 50/50. Let me what you all think :)

i have autism/adhd and i’m also a freshmen, the adjustment to college life has not been easy for me at all.
i’m falling extremely behind in my classes because i’ve been too depressed to even leave my dorm a lot of the time. i’m extremely stressed, and i’m anxious all the time.
i don’t really have any friends. i try to make them but because im depressed it’s hard to keep up with.
i’ve met with UHS mental health services and they referred me off campus and wanted me to find an outside provider. waitlists for therapy can be 3-6 months here. i thought college would make me happier but i have only gotten worse.
i’m about ready to throw up my hands and say the college life is not for me, im miserable. any advice or help is appreciated.

Both of my Math and EMA midterm scores just came back and they are horrible. I got a 60 on math(though I thought I did good) and a 50 on EMA. Rn I'm on the verge of getting an F for EMA.
FYI: I have 5 classes this semester
When it was midterms week none of my classes gave me the make up exam option except COMPSCI, who was kind enough to give me the next week's makeup. I had 4 exams start from Wednesday to Friday (with friday having 2 exams in the same day). I asked many times for the EMA department to give me the makeup option but they refused and insisted on me to move the other exams instead.
My schedule is pretty busy with work in the weekends and coaching at nick every tuesday and thruday. I already dedicated my time to studying that I never had time to invest to my hobby like drawing or painting anymore. Yet I still got bad scores. Idk if I can survive engineering. It's draining my energy but the results are still bad. Sometimes I think college isn't for me but I can't drop out because I'm an international student under my national scholarship.
What do I do for my next midterms? What if the department refuse to give me makeup exams again? Some people said to reach to College of Engineering and tell them that my exams are too clustered to each other, but what do I say to them?
I would really appreciate any advice, thank you🙏❤️
Edit: my EMA grades are now 0.5% away from an F

Hi! I’m looking for a reliable and affordable mechanic in Madison who can diagnose and fix engine issues. I’ve contacted a few mobile mechanics, but they haven’t been able to properly diagnose my car. Does anyone have recommendations for a trustworthy shop that charges reasonable prices? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I’m considering these 2 classes; and from my understanding 616 seems more coding based while 632 is more paper/pencil math? I don’t necessarily mind either style, but would like to hear some personal experiences with the classes.
If anyone has taken either of these classes, I’d love to hear about your experience and how the class was structured (e.g. assignments and exams, attendance, difficulty)
Thanks!

I applied for freshmen admission, UW - Madison is my dream college.
Graduated one sem early, Texas high school - applying for the real estate major
My stats are 3.59 GPA unweighted, top 18% ( it’s very low because of my senior grades, as I faced something which I have explained in my application.)
ACT - 36 ( hopefully they can overlook the GPA and rank)
Ecs are solid, I’ll just list a few, all are equllly important to me but I don’t wanna make it long to read
-2 CBRE internships, one is 6 months long,
- a project where I have created a program to help underprivileged students in India and give them opportunity’s, I have grown it to 400 students.
- daily volunteer in my religious place
- trying to go pro in pickleball and grinding everyday.
Common app essay is sold, it talks about human connections and also the project that I am doing in India for the students.
Supplemental essay is also solid and speaks about my interest in real estate
Pls let me know if I have a good chance in getting

What are some good housing options for next year? I’m planning on living in a studio or a 1bd/1bath, not necessarily close to campus but that’d be nice, I’m currently paying around 1.3k for a studio but the building I’m in isn’t the best honestly and it’s a little run down..
