So tired
So tired of the gender wars, race wars, etc. Scrolling reels genuinely makes me depressed. Why can’t we all just love each other

This thread is for students applying to Winter 2027 co-ops during the Fall 2026 term.
As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.
The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet
Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)
If you have details about interviews, rankings, etc, you can add information to watrank.com for visibility.
If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let the mod team know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!
Candidates:
Note that reports from submitters with no previous account activity may not be accepted to aid legitimacy.

This feels so niche but do you also think it’s cool that perhaps somewhere on campus in some hidden nook or cranny that maybe nobody knows students are up studying, chilling, doing god knows what on campus? The whole idea of late nights on campus has been captivating me and I’ve posted about it before. I’m in need of a perspective shift so I’m gonna go larp right now in the eng buildings. Once in first year when touring the tunnels me and some friends found these two upper year guys playing a board game in that one staircase that is in the hall from ESC towards engineering. And once I caught this couple trying to make out on a couch I was on in a secluded corner of MC.

Alt account for obvious reasons.
I am in 2A of my program, and it's been so annoying and so tiring since 1A. This is reading week and I am spending my whole time working catching up on 5 weeks worth of course contents. Even then I am unable to do so, I have 2 INC on my record right now, and I am spending my whole time just either studying or trying to study.
I go to Uni, come back, and just work on things from Uni. Lectures don't make any sense, whatever the Professor is yapping doesnt make sense, and its not even the Professor, the Professors are genuienly highly rated and are genuienly so good and amazing. But, nothing makes sense, I go in lecture, sit, ready to listen to whatever they are saying, but its all gibrish to me, I have no clue what the Professor is saying, what topic they are on, what thing they are saying. Nothing makes any sense. And before you say skim through the slides/course/topic before the lecture, that didnt make sense, all i get is more confused. I go to Uni, sit in lectures for what? 2 hours? and for what? no use, absolutely no use, i come back and then i have to re-do everything as if I know nothing.
In 1A/B i tried skipping lectures, just sitting home and working on lectures my self... I ended up going 2 months without leaving my dorm or talking to anyone in person. And even then I only left because the finals were coming up and I had to print a cheat sheet. And in 2A I am trying my best, absolute best to not go them into the same hole, I made my self to have my Labs/Tutorials in a way that it forces me to go to Campus 3 days a week. Thought that might help me, but thats just more useless, on those 3 days I start thinking about going to Campus from the moment i wake up, until i actually go, and when i come back, I am behing on all my lectures suddenly. I go to Uni, come back from Uni, no interaction with anyone, just go silently, come back silently.
I dont have time to relax, i dont have time to do anything, i dont have time to talk to my parents even... why? Cause im always working, always behind on my courses.
I see others, my roomates, my friends, they all have a life, they all have someone to talk to, and i dont mean it in a relationship way, i mean they have a friend, whom they can call talk and just share stuff with. I see them going around enjoying life, going to places, going to sports, gym, and still being good in academics. HOW? GENUIENLY HOW THE FUCK DO PEOPLE DO ALL THAT SHIT? IM HERE WORKING MY ASS OFF JUST TRYING TO CATCH UP ON THINGS HOW THE FUCK DO PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH TIME?
I spend hours working on a fucking subject, just to barely pass it, these they play games whole night, go to events, go to sports, one day before the midterm in the morning they are going out for fun, HOW? HOW? When there is a midterm i spend 2 weeks just studying for it, for to just barely pass the course, how the actual fuck do people do all that? I was kicked out of my program into another program because i didnt have the grades to stay in it, HOW? GENUIENLY HOW?
im sitting right now trying to work on my INC course, but no shit is working, and i am genuienly so fucking annoyed by me, why cant i just do it, how fucking hard it is to just do. Just fucking do it, how hard is it to just do fucking it.
i joined design team thinking maybe it might help, so far... it has just been another thing on my mind, i havent gotten time to do anything, let alone work on design team, im just trying to do my course work
and i am so fucking tired of this, this shit this story going around and around in circles, ive tried to make a schedule, a timetable, ive tried everything, every single fucking thing, nothing makes sense, i am trying my fucking best here to not loose my mind and my self, i am trying my fucking best here
and its not even that i am dumb or stupid, i know i can do it, i know i have the potential, i see it in me, but this fucking thing doesnt make sense at all, i sit in this god awful chair all day every week, trying to study, trying to complete my task, just to end up being not able to do shit.
and uk whats the worst part? at least before i used to feel something at least, anger, guilt, regret, something, now? nothing. its just, nothing, i dont even know what this fuckass feeling even is, or what the fuck im doing, i know i have to work, i know i have to do, but it doesnt make fucking sense, like FUCKASS JUST DO IT, JUST DO IT, but no, why the absolute fuck would i, im just sitting here doing nothing.
and the funny thing is courses arent even hard, i can see that they arent hard, they are so fucking easy, i see how easy they are, i see it. and yet it god dam doesnt work, i cant god dam fucking do anything,
and it is so fucking tiring, i am so much tired
uk i just feel like pulling my hair out, and just slapping the fuck outta my face, and like, its just so fucking annoying
ive not had a single friend, not a single friend past grade 7, eveyone i ever met since then, everyone i ever talked to, im just "another guy", "another stupid ass fuckface", this year, i decided to push my self to go forward, to go to things that made me say no, all it has done so far is just make me feel more and more awful about my self.
and idk whats wrong with me, i dont know. idk half the time what i am doing, i am always just confused on whats happenign, i dont get what people are doing half the time or how they are so relaxed,
uk, being in my home country, i hated being there, hated it, i never could fit there, never did, not in school and i was scared when i going into college there since i knew i couldnt fit there, coming here was a big restart for me, but surprise surprise it was the same here as well, sure i was able to fit in a little bit, but it was still the same, Uni was another big reset, but whatcha know? Its worse,
and uk i hear people saying that "oh ur young, u have your whole life to figure out" how do i explain to them, i dont. I DONT HAVE THE WHOLE LIFE, I HAVE 4 YEARS. FULL STOP. 4 FUCKING YEARS. and out of 4, 1 has passed, its 3 years ONLY. they dont see my parents, they dont see what my parents are going through just for me to be in this country, they dont see their age, their health i see it. On every call to them i see them getting older and older, even though they are just a GO Bus away, i see them aging and aging fast. I see how my dad went from being all jolly and friendly, to always being stressed, i see how his health is going down, i see my mom aging and aging fast, i see how they are going and like, its not that easy, its not just that
and the one fucking thing i have to do is fucking study, which i surprise surprise doesnt do
and like, idk what im even trying to say i dont know, i dont have any idea, but like its just so annoying and so fucking tiring, i am just, idk, idk what is it, idk what im feeling, idk, and i just feel it, i feel it in my body, and i idk,

Qs same as the title. I am an engineering undergrad in my 2A term. I am really keen into research and have had a research coop for this winter, but they are ppl who do it on campus during study terms. I was just wondering how students do that and if you have any advise on actually becoming a URA.
Thank you!

I can use the 2 day exemption to skip lin alg math235 - do i though?
I heard Ramp OA, even if u do well u dont get interviews (necessarily) and they give it to everyone, is this true in your experiences?
r/uwaterloo • u/blackrock_1583 • 38m ago
as a soon to graduate loo student, here's my 2 cent since getting the faang jobs.
the coop game is a rank up + numbers game. get any experience first, then a better coop each term until you land the one you want. the biggest factor you actually control is the numbers: how many you apply to. you can be the perfect candidate and still lose because the recruiter was in a bad mood that day or the ATS trashed your application. nothing you can do about those. what you can do is apply more.
so during my second coop i built myself an auto applier. it scrapes the job boards for new internship postings, then applies from my own chrome like a human would: opens the form, fills it from my profile and resume, uploads the pdf, answers the screening questions, grabs the verification code out of my gmail, hits submit. ever since, i averaged 3-5 interviews a month, have 50+ applications a week and eventually the faang offer.
now that i'm graduating, no more gatekeeping :) hopefully this helps. And there is an 100 sign up limit due to server/api cost & how much i spend on lazeez.

extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/internship-agent/gekdmhjndaicnkhdkiiblblhlbpcopdh
youtube demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UElViIS3sUk&t=2s
fyi, i vibe deployed this in like 3 hours, google is screaming about security warnings cause I am not verified site yet. (working on it..)
what it does
- finds new postings on greenhouse, lever, ashby and a pile of company boards every few minutes, filtered to your searches (roles, terms, cities, us/canada)
- rates each one 1-5 against your résumé with the gaps named, so you're not burning applications on stuff you'd never get
- applies from your own chrome through a small extension (it's on the chrome web store), in its own window, while you do whatever
- answers the boring questions itself and only asks you the ones it genuinely can't know
- keeps a receipt for every application: every answer and where it came from, plus a screenshot of the form right before it was sent
- reads employer replies from your gmail so confirmations, OAs, interviews and rejections land in one place, with the OA deadlines
how to use it

For context, I’m a first year. I guess I just want to know if anyone feels the same way as me/ have advice.
As silly as it sounds, I’ve never had to make my own decisions before. Elementary and high school is mandatory, and in both settings you’re told exactly what to do. Now that I’m in university I feel so lost. I was sure this is what I wanted growing up but suddenly it’s gone from talking about my future in theory to actually taking steps towards it. I can’t help but feel like it isn’t as great as I was hoping? I have a few good friends but don’t feel motivated to do any school work, and I’ve started questioning what I even want to do with the rest of my life. I mean, I just turned 18. There are so many directions I could go and it’s stressful to work out. I think I’d like the trades (electrician) and it would probably make me the same money as my current major. Maybe a gap year just to work? There are literally endless options and I have zero insight into what would make me truly happy because I don’t have experience in any of it.
I’d appreciate any advice or even just hearing from someone who relates.

I’m in gr 12 right now in Ontario and I’m wondering what my chances are for Waterloo Mechanical Engineering.
My predicted Grade 12 average is around 96%
some extracurriculars I have are:
I’m wondering how competitive this would be for Waterloo mech eng.
If you’re currently at Waterloo mech eng, I’d really appreciate if you could tell me what my chances are and what extra currics and avg you had applied with.

Im honestly struggling in math137, all my quizzes have been sub 75 and one failing. I do the practice quiz and I go through the course notes, but it doesn’t really click tbh. I tried searching YouTube videos for the lectures but apparently 137 is different than actual calc 1 which is 127 . Any tips would be appreciated epsilon delta proofs are kicking my ass.

Just learn for bio midterm for 5 days this week, I just literally study since I get up and end it til night.
Totally token my 35 hours to review single course.
Will this be worse in future years?

Thinking of starting some dating events for UW students and wanted to see if anyone would actually show up before I put the work in lol.
Idea 1: speed dating night
~10 short dates (6 min each),. After each date you privately tap yes/no on your phone. If you both said yes, you get each other's contact the next morning. Nobody finds out who said no.
Was thinking maybe I could also create some themed dating nights - book lovers, asian students only, or sum.
Idea 2: live dating show
Kind of like the balloon-pop / blind date shows on TikTok. In SLC Great Hall.
Anyone interested? Any other ideas? I feel like this would help with all of the loneliness on campus.

I was thinking of applying to either mech or tron, but I'm kinda now realizing I have no idea what type of engineering I want to learn. Is it true that systems design is like everything combined into one? That sounds compelling, as I don't want to go into something I dislike.
Sidenote: Is systems design less or more competitive than tron/mech?
