Discussion Red Flags...

Post image

First off, it's McDonald's. Secondly, $36 for an 11.9 mile drive is amazing, but, it's McDonald's. If you look at the time, it's just after 4:00 a.m.. that means, McDonald's has already switched to breakfast and that customer likely has placed a dinner order before 4:00 a.m. which has been either stolen or the first driver arrived just after the breakfast menu began. McDonald's will not fulfill this food order.

Are there any other early morning drivers who see this garbage?

I thought I was the only one (jk) who dealt with the 4am switch thing 🤣 Tbh... 4:15, I'd still take it and go look. But 4:37? Nah. Not sure how far away time-wise the restaurant is, I'll be optimistic and say that you arrive by 4:45a. That's 45 mins "late" after the switch... no way they're giving you a dinner order at that time. You're exactly right - that $36 is a $1 tip and the order's been bumped to the max base pay ($35) after being canceled so many times

It's the same at the 10-11. It pisses me off customers that want non breakfast food super early. I'll likely have to wait 20 minutes on whatever food they ordered.

I've been up UNTIL 4am a lot more in my life than I have woken up before then lol

Uber Eats orders are stolen so often in my area that if I have to travel more than a mile or two I’ll even call the store to verify they have the order.. pretty ridiculous. Most of the time, they do not and it saves me the drive lol

I just said the same thing pretty much verbatim then immediately after posting I seen your comment, but yes I use this method often

I would take the chance, sometimes i end up being able to get the order

They're always so tempting to take even though you know its going to be undeliverable, you just hope šŸ™šŸ„¹

You at least gotta take that one and take the 3 minutes to find out!

I would take the order knowing it's stolen just to see if it's a small order. If the order is small enough I just place the order and pay for it myself and then pocket the difference.

If the order is too large (which is most the time) then I unassign.

None of it would matter cause the resturant is closed is the right answer for 300 dollars šŸ˜ƒšŸ˜‚

That’s not going to help when the customer orders breakfast and they are no longer serving breakfast. What are you going to do? Just buy them a cheeseburger and hope they don’t notice?

True but that is not the issue 99% of the time in my area. The issue is usually the first driver stole the order.

This happened almost nightly when I did late night delivery. Grinds my gears that they can’t get this fixed. I’ve sent hundreds of messages saying McDonald’s is only doing breakfast now

2

u/AIDS_Quesadilla 1d ago

**won't get this fixed. And yeah 😔

2

u/Majestic-Rough-4707 1d ago

Yes exactly. I swear they could just hit a button and fix it. But they don’t

Seems like someone who doesn't have any warnings could ghost deliver it. I'd say every few months its fine these people are drunk and passed out half the time i swear

1

u/Pretty_Bed1983 2d ago

Yeah but then they'll give you a šŸ‘ŽšŸ» and you'll get a report (bc they're gonna get charged for it and they'll be pissed)

1

u/Civil-Inflation-686 2d ago

yes, but ultimately if it happens to the same customers time and time again (like non-tippers) uber is working with imperfect information so it'l eventually flag them for "abusing" it by reporting their order missing.

also if this is only 1 in 300 delivieries why care about the thumbs down

I don’t live in the US, how does this work? Does the customer pay $36 delivery fee for a McD order?

2

u/Civil-Inflation-686 2d ago

there is essentially a pool of the funds people pay in fees. this fund subsidizes the shitty deliveries with high base pay and let the high tippers stick with a $2 base pay for being good people. market dependent but uber caps out at $35 base + tip, which you're seeing as the upfront $36.

Tx for explaining.

I never work that shift, but this is some solid evaluating

I had a Burger King order for $36 2 miles, I was outside the restaurant already and knew it most likely stolen but I took the order and then they told me you are the 9th driver to come ask for it. Someone picked it up already. I was gonna pay for it but it was $65 order. I asked the manager if she can remake it and she did. Easiest $36

Skill issue on the part of the McD's. At my store, if an order comes through on our end, it gets made. Even if it's after 4am, with the exception of ice cream. Machine goes into pasturization mode at 2:54am.

I'd accept it ,then cancel if it's lunch. If it's breakfast you could buy the order worse case. Every now and then I'll get one that's real

I work in this area as well and all I can say is it’s not even worth working past 12. It’s so dead over here past then.

1

u/Broseph_Jones_ 9h ago

Yes but from breakfast to lunch for me. I get $30-40 offers at 10:45am knowing breakfast is over and McDonald’s definitely didn’t make the food when they got the order like they should have. So k just have to sit there knowing there is almost $50 that no one can claim. Disgusting feeling.

I would take it

In my experience and the suburbs of Chicago, where I work, McDonald's is a nightmare... Ice cold drinks in the bag with hot food, 50% minimum driver theft (I end up being driver #4-#6 in a row after it's been stolen), and the breakfast menu switch at 4am. Waste of fuel and time.

0

u/IndependentCup5340 2d ago

Most people don’t get paid $36 an hour let alone in 29 mins. I personally don’t mind chilling 1 hour+ and get paid for it. Cost of living in Chicago must be really high. I’m out in California

1

u/CustomerPrize 2d ago

Shoulda took it. That specific area has alot of factories and offices that group order. One golden rule is to accept everything north of I 55 & reject everything south

1

u/_xomo_ 2d ago

I simply refuse every McDonald's offer, regardless.

jus showed a shot of the box and cut ou the address no harmĀ

u/THH77 2d ago

I’d ghost deliver this tbh. As long as you don’t have several complaints you will be fine

1

u/feng123qwe 1d ago

Deliver what instead of?

0

u/InternalOwn8282 2d ago

Definitely should take it if it’s stolen just reorder it easy money

looks like profit to me

Tip of the day everyone.. when u accept a high paying but non likely to be delivered type of order especially around that 4am hour and the restaurant is over a mile away, call the restaurant and verify if the order is there, makeable, picked up etc.. you’re likely to get an answer depending on the restaurant and will save yourself time and fuel.
