I installed new belts
Yesterday my 2018 Volvo got new timing and serpentine belts. I am good at a lot of things but auto repair isnāt one of them. I especially had a difficult time installing the timing belt as the side opposite the tensioner was too loose (one tooth off). I eventually realized that all I had to do was slightly rotate the crank so it would seat in the proper teeth. Problem solved.
Iām glad that it is done but even happier I will never have to do that again. I did promise the car to my grandson when he is old enough to drive in seven years if it even makes it to then. Attached are some photos, including the old parts. Both belts still look like they had a few more years but it is an interference engine so better safe than sorry.

Stand out
The sky was wild tonight! sadly I couldnāt get to my favourite sunset spot in time so I had to stop here and see what I could capture.
in a sea of Mercedes BMW and Audi.. the S90 is a total stand out rolling around the streets. Iām so thankful for this car!

s60/v60 Halloween again!
better pics soon! ;)
polestar Can I repair this curb rash myself?
Got the car a few weeks ago and already managed to curb a wheel. My dumb ass backed into a spot at the back of a parking lot to avoid door dings, then forgot about the curb when pulling out in the dark.
Think I could fix this myself? Doesnāt need to be perfect, just look better than it does now. My main concern is the clear coat or whatever coating is on the wheel. Anyone tackled something like this before, specifically dealing with the coating? Thanks!

xc series Roadtrip Ability of the XC90
Hey all, Iāve been really hyper fixated on the P2 XC90 and was wondering how well it does when it comes to going on road trips? I have 99 V70 that is great for road trips but can be a little rough sometimes due to 17 wheels on 215 tires so Iām thinking of getting and XC90 in the near future to pair along with it, preferably a face lifted version with the 3.2 and AWD. I love the thought of having a Volvo V8 but Iām not sure if Iām ready to handle the hassle that comes with maintaining it and donāt even get me started on the early T6 and 2.9 I6 lol. Just wanted some insight as it would become my other daily/roadtrip car and if thereās anything to look for when using one as a roadtrip car.

s60/v60 What does this mean!? Slow down or reduce speed!?
So Im driving on the highway going 65 and randomly on my speedometer. It says reduce speed or shift up with a blinking check engine light. Im able to slow down and its goes away and for the rest of the drive its fine and I've started the car up still the message nor light are back?

s60/v60 did i run something over or was this vandalism?
I drive a very low mileage s60 t6 with pretty new tires due to hitting a pothole a few months ago and needing replacement tires. I left work today only to be hit with a tpms light after hitting around 30mph less than a mile away from work. i stopped as soon as it was safe and saw a metal fragment in between the sidewall and tread. when removed its fairly obvious a can opener off of a pocket knife with the handle snapped off . i had been parked for around 8 hours but never felt anything weird before on the way into work which was a 30mile drive today. I am not sure why anyone would do this but also seems like a very unlikely spot to have this get stuck in there/unusual object/spot. the tip is pointed but for running it over to me it doesnt make sense to be pointed down and not up.....

XC60 VS XC70
Looking to add to the Volvo family (already own an XC90) and I have been looking at the XC70 and the XC60 and something I donāt get is why the same engine for both 3.0L Turbo have such wildly different reliability ratings. For the 60 itās considered less reliable but for the 70 itās considered bullet proof. Why?

Simons / Jetex / BSR Exhaust Question
Hi all,
I have a 2014 Volvo V40 T5 (5 cylinder engine) and want to upgrade the exhaust to let that proper sound out. Itās a daily car and I donāt want an obnoxious, loud, popping chav-wagon.
Looking at the Swedish OEM+ system in title (under various brands I believe but all made in same factory)
I cannot decide between the Resonated & Non-Resonated (Racepipe) versions.
Is there anyone with experience of these products?
I would like more of the 5 cylinder sound, more exhaust note under acceleration, but concerned that the racepipe would be too loud and make the cabin loud with drone.
Cheers

xc series Water leaking inside the car
Hey folks! Just found out about an unbelievable issue with my car. I had electrical issues and took the car to the shop and learned that water had leaked into my car and damaged the engines. I saw onljne that this issue existed in some older models, and wanted to see if anyone else ran into the same issue with newer (post 2020) models. Anyone had/heard of this issue?

Used XC60 and Oil Service History
I was looking at two XC60s, one 2019 and another 2021. The 2021 didnāt have its oil changed until October, 2023 at 8270 miles but after that, it looks like it was changed two more times over the course of 3 months and only about 800 miles. After that looks like it was changed every 7-8k miles and currently has 46k miles
The 2019 one was sold back in June, 2019 and doesnāt show a first oil change until 14,418 miles in June, 2021. After that it looks like it was changed every 9k miles and currently has 48k miles.
Should I steer away from these examples just based on these aspects alone? I havenāt seen either vehicle yet or had an independent inspection done but I just feel these intervals especially on a turbo motor are recipe for sludge and future oil burners. They are both T5s for reference.

V70 From Skoda to this.
My new to me 2011 V70 R-Design with 120,000miles.
After having my 2014 Skoda Fabia for 5 years, I swapped it for this.
It needs a good polish.
How did I do?

s90/v90 Connect Plus Expiring
The new to us V90 has the connect plus expiring in a few days. We are coming from a Sensus V60 (gone) and a Mach E and we used Car Play exclusively.
I bought a dongle that loads car play wirelessly into the V90 and it works seamlessly about 85% of the time.
I think about just using Google built in but I also hate the idea of spending $120.
What am I giving up if I let Connect Plus go?

First Volvo?
Saab finally died so looking into Volvoās. Ive always heard great things and I drive about 400miles/week so figure this should last a while. I was originally looking for something CPO or a wagon(like everyone else) but theyāre a little more pricey than what Iām looking to spend right now. Is this a pull the trigger price or are there concerns? I know people really like the T6, but it looks like thereās also more that can go wrong so Iām not sure if Iād be better off looking for a t5 reliability wise.
