40k Discussion Home objective holders
Given the recent changes to the Company of Heroes Unit, I was wondering what the community thinks of them as a home objective holder?
They are 4 bodies with 4 wounds apiece and -1 to wound and sticky objective for 125 pt.
But for the same amount of point you could get a ancient and 5 intercessors.
They have 4 OC more, some better? shooting but worse melee and fewer woulds overall.
Before the stealth update to CoH where they were changed to a character unit, I used them over the ancient+intercessors because I didn't want to give up an "easy" assassination.
But with the change in mind what would be the better home objective holder?
ancient with intercessors or company of heroes

For almost the same cost you can get 2x5 scouts. If you're looking for board contril and area denial they are the better option i believe

Im having the real debate of company heroes over HI and the assault upgrade purely because 2x5 scouts is 5 points too many. Depending on the list, OP could be having the same debate issue.

Depending on your mission - you might not NEED to hold your home objective
Worth bearing in mind as asymmetric mission play is quite the paradigm shift compared to 10th

This is true in a technical sense. In practice, your home objective still usually scores your opponent points and leaving the space empty gives him a massive hole to ingress into, so it's rarely practical to do so.

How many disposition pairings offer no reward for holding your enemy’s home objective, either as an objective or as an end of game chunk of points? It seems pretty prevalent.

If you play priority assets, the only one that cares about holding your home is the take and hold matchup. Otherwise you can just yolo up the board.

This. I ran Recon and other than denying opponents a not-that-important bit of scoring - 1 5 point secondary and a few points of primary for some Dispositions - I found those points better spent on units that actively score, instead.

Most missions don’t require holding the home, and even the ones that do you likely don’t need much OC on it. I’d probably recommend using intercessors, scouts, or inceptors. Inceptors decent as they can screen early game, and be useful later

I have Company Heroes with a Sanguinary Priest that I plan to use to help hold home. I figure the +1 T and healing from the priest will make them especially difficult to shift.
With that being said it might also be good to have some backup options to swap them out or have another plan for them on the battlefield as people pointed out - you don’t necessarily need to hold the home objective in every scenario

I generally take a unit of intercessor and CoH. CoH sticky my home and the run off to sticky something else, skirmish, hold my expansion etc. the intercessors can stick around to screen out the back, make sure my opponent has to actually do something to take my home, do actions etc

I think with an apothecary and the company’s weapon profiles it might be better. Intercessors feel squishier still.
