WHFB/TOW Events Thread
Happy 1st of the month r/WarhammerFantasy!
In the spirit of growing the community and allowing folks to advertise events and tournaments that they are running or planning to run, we are going to be setting up a thread each month to be sticked so folks can post any events or tournaments that are coming up. Please post your event with a format that includes the following:
- Name of the Event + a description
- Location of the Event or if it's Online just say it's Online
- Date & Time of the event
- Who to contact for more information
- Feel free to add any other details that any interested participants may need to know.
Hopefully this thread finds some use and folks are able to make use of it to get word of their events out there!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the mod team through Mod Mail.

I'm super happy that I'm finally able to share this guy as the competition required that I didn't until it was over, this was my first miniature painting competition I've entered and I had the honour of receiving 1st place!, the other contestants submissions were also incredibly amazing and I commend everyone that participated, I look forward to the next competition.

Fantasy General Was it ever mentioned in the lore what is Nurgle's opinion of clan pestilens ?
Because they're using plagues as well but not following the whole life cycle that nurgle cares about

The Old World legacy faction rules oversights are rather frustrating
as a vampire counts player it truely sucks that if I want my Vampire lord to be a caster and also have armour im forced to either put him on a expensive mount or use The Flayed Hauberk when Warriors of Chaos and Cathay can just do that by default. vampire lords are already much weaker then master necromancers and very expensive so its very annoying to have to deal with rules jank like this. im sure the other legacy armies have similar or worse issues I just had no idea how low effort some of the rules as written are but I guess thats why so many people use renegades 2.0 instead.

Dwarf Army
I decided it was high time I got my entire dwarf collection out on the table for some photos. The throng is sitting a little over the 10,000 point mark, which is quite enough for now I reckon!

Spawn of Khorne conversion
Inspired by the 00s unreleased khorne variant of the spawn, I have converted my own. This is part of the next batch for my Storm of Chaos Khorne army.

Pure unadulterated nostalgia...
I went back to my childhood home this weekend for the first time in 24 years (long story, not for Reddit). One of the many things I enjoyed about the weekend was going up into the loft that was converted into a games room when I was young and having a mooch amongst all the models and memories. This loft is literally where my love for Warhammer began all those years ago.
This was my favourite thing I found, my Goblin Big Boss on Giant Scorpion.
My Stepdad built and painted this for me for I think maybe my 11th birthday? It was the first conversion I'd ever seen not in a White Dwarf.
I believe the Giant Scorpion was an actual Games Workshop model? Was is it in the mail order catalogue? I never saw anyone else actually use or even own one and so this piece, to me, felt completely unique and of course, my favourite model in my Orcs and Goblins army.
These days, I don't think there is a single model in any of my "4" armies that isn't converted. I guess this is where my being a special snowflake started?

Showing Off My Models High Elf Prince on Star Dragon
Am not a big fan on the official dragon model, I feel the pose makes it look small. So I used a Black Dragon instead, since its more vertical and thus feels bigger. Didnāt have to do much converting, most just trying to get the rider to fit and cutting out Dark Elf stuff off the saddle. After that it was just painting it blue and white instead of black.

Building a frozen wastes mixed Chaos army, and the cultists have already surprised me
I started Warhammer in sixth edition, so mixed Chaos has always been my idea of how the army should look. Mortals, Beastmen and monsters coming together in a slightly questionable arrangement feels right to me. The new Arcane Journal finally gave me the excuse to build the frozen wastes army Iāve wanted for years.
These are some workbench photos of the progress so far. All the basing is still unfinished, but the pale skin, cold colours and Viking feel are coming together. Please mentally replace the paint bottles and general desk chaos with a sweeping northern landscape.
Iām aiming to take it to Forgotten North and BCGT in November. The list has a Manticore Lord and two Chimeras applying pressure while ambushing infantry exploit gaps, supported by several smaller casters.
Iāve played one practice game against my mateās Dwarf Expeditionary Force so far. I came close to breaking his Thunderstar before failing a couple of key charges, but the cultists were what really caught my attention. I used bow units in that game, and the positions they could reach have encouraged me to try a mixture of equipment, including two hand weapons and thrown weapons.
Iāve written up the project properly here, including the model choices, the thinking behind the list and what I learned from that first outing:
https://ukresinprint.com/2026/10/16/into-the-frozen-wastes-building-a-mixed-chaos-army-for-november/
For transparency, UKResinPrint is my shop, and part of the project is building an army from models I stock. This article follows the hobby and gaming side as it develops.
The Beastmen are the bit I havenāt settled on. I own older models I can use in the meantime, but I want something that belongs in the frozen north. What would you use? Shaggy northern creatures, stranger mutations, or something else entirely?
Also, apologies to the mods for yesterdayās post. I missed the rule about promoting sales, and that was my mistake. Thanks for keeping the community running.

Fantasy General Best book about Slaanesh cults? Khaine works in a pinch.
Got into the books thanks to Total War. Blazed through the William King Gotrek novels. Then kind of forgot about it. Just read Witch Hunter and I am full on back into this stuff.
Longtime Clive Barker, and always loved the Cenobite adjacent Slaanesh (I suppose Khaine and the murder night stuff counts too). Any really good Slaanesh fantasy books? I will say I prefer more secretive cult stuff, as opposed to out in the open Norscans. In a pinch, Hellebron and the Khaine cults are pretty cool too.

Showing Off My Models Grand Master of the Knights Panther

This model was on my painting desk for Roughly 2 months mid-paint job.
A reason I just stopped painting him was just because I got busy with my job and started other project, but to try get me back into the flow of painting, I just went back to this guy and had loads of fun painting all the details.

Showing Off My Models Hossa von Aldien, Admiral General of Marienburg (allegedly) - Renegade Crowns Prince
Not sure if the tridents on the shoulders are a bit much for ToW but I love this model and with all that drip (or āblingā for ye olde worlders) has to be from Marienburg (Renegade Prince with Noble Outlaw Infamous Origins)
