I bought a Bulwark 7-1 dock and tried hooking it up to my Ally X20, it kinda sucks. For one, how do you control it while docked?? I have to bend down to use it while it’s on my TV stand. Where do people put it??
I bought the X20 to be used as a handheld so docking it seems like a waste of money and time. But…Everyone else seems to be using one. Idk…
do you use your Ally X20 while docked?? I need advice/help
How do you select the tabs then? The controls are so limited when docked! Like you can select a application with a controller. Or browser search. I tried. It doesn’t work right
I didn't try with a dock yet, but if you press that asus button left, in the side menue you can choose your inputs. i would use mouse and keyboard and use the controller like with an pc
Actually after having a conversation with this guy, what it actually is,
he bought an expensive thing but didn’t buy the other expensive thing (too expensive) that allows him to control the expensive thing from a distance.
if he had bought the expensive thing for controlling at a distance from the same product family there would be no issues with expensive thing.
Unfortunately as windows doesn’t have a built in expensive thing control remotely to use non controller experience things, he doesn’t want to put any effort in to make it control the expensive thing well (due to it being so expensive) as he think it should just control the expensive thing in the first place.
lol I’m taking the piss. Basically this dude bought it not realising it’s a windows PC and opened steam in standard mode not big picture mode and his controller of course doesn’t work there.
Basically he thought it would play and work just like say a Nintendo Switch 2.
What I’m more amazed about is he spent all this money with zero research.
That controller is incredibly expensive, it’s $160, and i already over $1500 on the Ally X20 with the dock and charger plus i bought a new keyboard for about $120
Then use a controller you already have. Do you use steam? Just boot to big picture and leave the wattage on max. If you don’t want to buy the official controller then make do with what you have. Thats the tradeoff. Or just use it how it’s meant to be used. Handheld.
It doesn’t work, it feels weird. How are you supposed to use external controllers? You can’t use controllers while browsing even the built in controllers
And how do you stand it up? It’s heavier than i thought
Because you’re acting and saying very strange things. You are talking like the dock is some portable add on to the Ally, you dock it, connect your controller either via Bluetooth or a wireless adapter and just game. It’s meant to prompt you if you want to disable the internal controller when you connect an external one.
Like when you have to select a game, you have to select the game with a cursor or something. Which is inconvenient if you have to use a mouse and Keyboard
Im not sure of any settings to change for it to work better. I use mine with xr glasses and am close enough to the dock to access the touch screen if needed. Sorry wasn't more helpful
No where near rich. I have the white xbox ally. The glasses are Ray neo air4 pro they where 240$ on sale and are awesome. And I put it close with one of those tv tray things that can fold away.
I'm on the couch with the ally and dock on the tray next to me. The glasses have no battery and the cord is short. That's really the only reason for my janky setup.
It's like a little one and a half foot by one and a half foot tray/table with fold out scissor legs. Used to be called tv dinner trays, back when those existed. I'm old. I think it was from Ikea.
My Z1E automatically opens Steam big picture mode when I dock it and connect my 8bitdo Ultimate controller, does the X not have that? I'm still setting up my X20, can check once I'm done.
You need a mini Bluetooth keyboard... and a mouse. So annoying on my xax too. I got two keyboards, mini and a big one for fps. My mouse is Bluetoothed. Also be sure you turn off the rog screen when output to the TV, just output to tv or you'll not get HDR 120hz
I have this ugreen 120hz 4k dock sitting here hooked up to an hdd with a keyboard dongle plugged in, as well as a mouse and controller (Bluetoothed directly to my xax ). All i got to do is plug one usb cable into my XAX and it'll output to tv. I also can plug in another controller for 2 player gaming when the gf wants to join in. This is better and cheaper
Xax and x20 is using the same chipsets.. same ram cpu wafer etc. At the end of the day you need a keyboard to control it, and change the mode to desktop, auto, desktop etc
I stuck to using Bluetooth xbox controllers just to avoid cables. XAX is fine perhaps check drivers or try it using another device connected by hdmi.
Check that you're giving enough power to the dock. Use one to connect power to the device directly and another one for the port. I recall bulwark needs a higher wattage USB c adaptor
I plug the usb c power into my rog directly and my ugreen dock to the other port if playing higher demand game titles. If I'm playing more optimized games no need
that would be the issue with any doc then? im not sure what your use case is , i guess you are browsing through edge or chrome with it? ya you would need a keyboard or mouse. i just play games with it and a controller is fine.
I feel like docking it is useless tho considering it’s a handheld. And a waste of money since i paid for tmr sticks, oled and all that stuff. I spent almost $1600 in total for the dock, X20 and the charger!
