❓️Question / Advice Persistent Fan noise X20

Haven't seen much about this but I'm really wondering if my unit is defective because the fans are on constantly even on silent mode and nothing being ran. For reference I owned XAX and I was able to compare side by side the both of them and there is definitely a difference.

I know the cooling curve might be different because of OLED and inside thermals are different now but I was curious if anyone had noticed something similar or nothing at all.

I’ve noticed the higher than XAX fan noise as wells i imagine the fan curves need to be adjusted and probably will with time

I've noticed the same thing, coming from an XAX and playing Belmont's Curse on silent TDP, the fans are audible

Seems like a software bug, I too noticed the fans running even when hibernating.

Is there a way for us to report this to asus ? My XAX i had a few days ago (before exchanging for the X20) didn't have this.

I understand its a software bug and can be fixed. But I do imagine some will return and exchange for a new X20 to discover it'll have the same fan issue (no need to return since its a software bug ppl !)

Good to know it's widespread and not just some defective units. My guess it's the OLED that needs to be cooled all the time but we will see what happens.

Gotta keep cool those oled displays

Yeah this is completely normal and every X20 is going to be louder. The thermal system was redesigned cause OLED screens are sensitive to heat so this is the result of the upgraded thermal system to keep the X20 running cooler for the OLED screen.

It’s definitely way louder than my XAX. I was hoping someone else would ask this.

I’m wondering if the fan is because it needs to cool the oled.

It’s a software bug. Unless you have cool whine

Did you do all updates including bios updates? Mine is very quiet and cool though and that was before all the updates. I did have some weird audio issues that the bios updates fixed. Peak would kill the sound to the entire pc until I went back to the games title screen or quit it.

Same with the audio, at high levels it would sound distorted but restarting it helped.

Seems like the device is experiencing day 1 woes. I'm sure all this will get sorted out through some updates.

Same. Silent mode 13w fans are spinning all the time. Way louder than steam deck oled at 15w.
