Guys,is using AI generated thumbnail bad?

So I've been creating Edu. Content for sometime and I create them using overlay and relevant videos as I speak in the background. I can't do photoshop so is it better not to use AI generated thumbnails or would it make no difference at all?

I use Canva, and it's hella easy to make a YT thumbnail as all you need to do is put images on top of each other

As someone with thousands of good of photosphere experience (though not at exactly professional levels) I have tu age. The most complicated tool isn't always the best one for the job.

No. But there's a difference between a bad AI generic generated thumbnail versus a Good AI generated thumbnail.

This will butthurt many people here, but reality is, a good AI generated thumbnail is far better than ugly human made thumbnail. My monetized channel uses AI generated thumbnail, and I never had viewers complained about it because its not a generic AI generated image. My monthly income speaks for itself.

It's always funny that people that use GenAI talk about how their use of AI is the "good kind" compared to the rest. Meanwhile the vast majority of people hate AI. Just because your viewers like your slop doesn't mean people like it, it means that people that don't like it don't watch.

no it is not bad.

using bad thumbnails - 100% human or not, is bad.

I will not click on a video if the thumbnail is AI. Yuck.

"I can't do photoshop"

Neither could anyone else before they learned. There's no excuse not to with how easily accessible information and tutorials are.

I hardly have enough time to package my content for my 1 video a week as it is. Still learning a lot of the editing process. I plan to eventually dive into the Photoshop tutorials, but I'm not there yet.

Joe public does not give a single fuck. And even those against AI only dislike when they can tell it's AI.

There's a difference between generic AI slop and a skilled person using AI tools to help them bring their vision to life. For example, many Photoshop features use AI to edit photos.

Viewers don’t care if it’s AI, don’t listen to redditors here. Just make it look nice and make me WANT to click it (have a good hook, appeal etc) and I don’t care what program/app/AI you are using. There are heaps of AI thumbnails on YT now doing pretty well.

As I usually say in these situations, I prefer scrappy human made efforts (regardless of quality) to soulless AI generated material taking the place of art.

It’s not about what you prefer because of your personal hate of AI. It’s about what YT viewers are choosing to click and you are loosing here :-)

A lot of viewers who see generic AI thumbnails may assume it's a generic AI-generated video.

I did not say ā€œgenericā€. I said they are AI. Make a thumbnail that good that I want to click on it and I don’t care how you made it (photoshop, AI, glue it on your knee, etc). AI is just a tool and you still need to have a brain to apply it correctly

If only the entire YouTube community felt like this.

I wish YouTube banned AI, but it doesn't, so I use AI. Can't beat em...

Using a template of someone else’s work over a tool designed to do the same thing? Too funny.
