Discussion Customers!!!
The thing that annoys me most about working in asdas is when a customer moves the cage that I’m working while being in front of it and they push it into me it’s really annoying, I had one today where I said wow, just ask me to move the cage instead of pushing the cages into me, and the lady said I don’t need a lecture I already said sorry, how rude is that ain’t it, it’s like no customers has any respect for colleagues actually stocking the shelves for them

It used to be fine but since Covid it’s like they lost all their manners. During Covid restrictions they used to lean over us and grab stuff off the shelves, like they couldn’t wait 2 seconds, night shift quite often got verbal abuse when shopping after their shift( we could shop before the store opened to customers so we could go home and sleep for the next night) and it’s just horrible worse since then. They all seem to think they are better than us.

I was bringing reductions out and a guy jumped to grab things and in the process he smacked me in a face with a product he snatched, I told him off "you just hit me in a face, can you wait a second?!" And gave him a dirty look, absolute shitshow for 20p less

Yes I get it everyday. Work chilled 5 days a week. We are seen as dirt by the customers. They put their trolleys Infront of my cage to the point where I lean over the trolley quickly and aggressively to make a point then storm off to stack the shelves. Start at 4am and get customers having a go at me in front of people. I used to be nice but now I couldn't give a shit about the customers. I don't smile or even look at them and not interested when they ask me for something (I do tell them but I say "it's right there in front of you")

Oh I also get old people coming right next to me breathing down my throat. Very uncomfortable, I don't know if they've being on the register before.. not worth the money at all but some people have no other choice lol

Only time iv swore at a customer was when I had someone try and move (more like rag from out beneath me) my Omni while I was on top of the ladder top stocking cases of wine cause she was trying to reach the cheap shit on the bottom shelf.
Looked at her and said "shitting hell, ill move if you want me to" and she just huffed and walked away, snotty cow she was.

I just love it when customers snap their fingers at me when I am hosting self scan, I am not you pet dog. Especially bad when I am dealing with another customer whose issue is taking a few minutes to resolve.

That's a fuck off that. Zero acceptable. I ain't having stuff like that.
Like you said, not a pet dog, or someone you just summon like that. Hell no

I am on chilled twice a week, produce 3 times a week. Up until very recently I was just on chilled. The fridges all have doors on them which doesn’t help from a colleague point of view. The amount of times my comp is in the way.

That’s awful 😞 I have only moved a trolley if it’s been left there and there’s not a staff member in sight, otherwise I’d politely ask them if I could quickly grab what I need.

Its asda not asdas. Other than completely agree with you! 🙈😅 actually pisses me right off!
"The apology wouldn't be needed if you treated me like a human and asked me to move it for you!" Customers have no business moving any of our equipment, especially when youre right there. They wouldn't do it in any other work environment. I also cant stand people thinking its ok to touch me, lean over me or under me when im trying to work. USE YOUR WORDS youre not 5 years old!
OK rant over 😂😂

Yes lost count of the number of times a customer has pushed into where am work and I’ve said to them if you say excuse me I would of moved out of the way for you.

u/GreenLion777 1d ago
Exactly. Shouldn't be touching any company equipment at all let alone moving them
I'd be having a word about that. They AREN'T in their own home

I find as a customer children running around near cages highly annoying would hate to work like that

Im on nightshift and will happily slam back my cage, i even put signs on them when im on pop, i had a bloke go to move my elec wheels while i was putting out stock and only 'cos i heard the click i quickly moved, jumping up with a loud 'what the fuck', he said he was just seeing how it moved so told him he's a prick, im beyond being nice to these muppets, i could be typing for next 10mins about the last 2 wks, even the manager lets me get on with it, had one post on fb about me, saw the post after about 40min and put my side, how the tide changed for them too

Those customers the ones that bring the revenue in to your store..
I get it slows you down, but customer facing business -
Put the customers first. Although I know Asda is up shit creek without a paddle and cutting staffing to the bone, so I do have a little sympathy.
I guess as a group of employees you need to make the root cause of the issue known to managers. For me that is stop stocking up in the middle of the day. Decant into small trollies if stocking is required during opening hours.
Have a great day all, regards a customer who moves cages when they are in my way (I do put them back once past though, I have a heart 😂)

Some heart. You should consider or rather realise that as a "customer", that doesn't mean you have the right to do anything you want or touch or move things like cages about. That's pathetic and serious disrespectful, how about I come into your house and touch or rearrange your stuff.
And trying to pass the buck or make it about how bad Asda is, F me. The real "root cause" is simply disrespect by some of the public towards staff and retail shops in general. And that shouldn't be stood for, I wouldn't if I still worked in the sector.
Stop stocking during the day ? Are you having a laugh, do you that is remotely practical or possible. Of course it's not. Nor is it going to happen.
Never quite read so much excuse laden garbage surrounding inappropriate and unacceptable customer behaviour in my life, takes the biscuit this, and that's saying something since I did work in retail for 15 years, my god

Customers are fucking insufferable. You realise how dog shit 99% of society are when you do retail

When I worked at Asda I had to help produce for a day once, I had a pallet of ambient produce with a pump truck out and as I was filling a customer started trying to pump up my pallet to move it because it was apparently (according to him) in the way, despite customers with trollies easily getting by it on both sides.
Like, I'd never dream of touching store equipment before and after working retail yet some people think they can do as they please, it's madening lol
