Fireworks
Class, absolutely buzzing for a whole month of cunts letting off fireworks at all hours because Asda will sell them to any prick.

I have a cat who is really anxious and I dread this time of year. He goes into a complete state when he hears them and it takes me ages to calm him down. Last year people were setting them off in the street outside my house. It’s a busy street and it caused havoc. Fireworks need to be used for displays run by professionals and not sold to any eejit that will set them off randomly.

No problem with fireworks, but it's just not worth the extra hassle that goes with it, storage, counting, merchandising, they're crap anyway and you'd be better off going to a proper stockist.

And lets not forget we have months off them to look forward to i was honestly asda would follow Sainsbury’s and not sell them at all but of course there greedy bastards today in our store there was 1 colleague having to run between the desk and the fireworks a dont think the que was less than 5 deep all morning

It's another own goal by the company that just can't read public opinion.
Fireworks are becoming less & less popular but we've got a distressed company here that fears missing out so continues to sell them.
Some lead others follow but Asda have even lost who they are supposed to be following now.
Couple this with continuing to feel there's money to be made by opening on Boxing Day and it's easy to see they've lost the plot.
Nothing is refreshing about Asda at the moment. Stuck in the nineties and still doing nineties things. Poor

This isn't an Asda problem though, all the supermarkets sell them (in my area anyway)

But this is it Asda darent be innovative. Be one of the few that says "We're not selling Fireworks"
Asda is a lost soul devoid of any fresh ideas. They'll sit round their oak table at Asda HQ and one will say "Fireworks were still selling em" & not one of the others will pipe up and say "Have you read the country's opinion on them? Folk don't want them anymore why don't we be trail blazers and stop selling em.
Let's be leaders let's give the majority what they want. And while we're at it folk ain't going shopping on Boxing Day so why the chuff don't we read the room again and give our workers something back Others are doing it. Others who are out performing us so what is it they know that we don't?
Do they honestly think by opening on Boxing Day its gonna help wipe out the debt left by Others? It's only gonna take a rise in the interest rate to wipe out instantly any money made by selling Fireworks and opening on Boxing Day. Come on Asda Wake Up

Fair. I also can't imagine that firework sales are such a big money spinner that it is worth protecting vs public sentiment.

No one has to work on Boxing Day, the festive bank holidays are purely voluntary for all hourly staff.

Technically not true, depending when you signed for contract 6 , determines if you need to work boxing day. When I signed for contract 6 at the beginning, wasnt required to work bank holidays, including boxing day
New starts this year, would be told, if required you need to work bank holidays, including boxing day
So I was told, if no one comes forward to work on Boxing day, colleague who recently started working for asda. It will be these colleagues that will be told, your working on Boxing day
Refuse, then you get told you may be disciplined for this, and may lose your job. But as things stand, there have always been colleagues willing to work boxing day

Unfortunately, if you have a valid id and the right amount of money, you can buy high explosives from your local supermarket
