Questions for Seth Damoose

Post image
8 Upvotes

I'm happy to announce our latest Extreme guest is Seth Damoose! I really enjoyed Badrock issue 1, and I can't wait to read issue 2. We'll be interviewing him towards the end of August to coincide with issue 2 so you all have plenty of time to think of your questions for him.

We're filming episode 8 in a couple of days with a community guest, and I'm hoping that we can get episode 7 out next week. Me and Nat like to have an editing session together before we put out an episode, and so far, my working schedule has made it difficult to find a good time to do it. But as soon as we can, we will.

PORTLAND, Ore. 10/08/2026 — Rob Liefeld’s highly anticipated Avengelyne #1 with artist DanielMainé joins Badrock and Youngblood as yet another instant, day-of-release, sell-out at the distributor level. This debut issue will be rushed back to print by Image Comics this week in order to keep up with rapid reorder activity.

The Avengelyne #1, second printing will feature a new cover by Liefeld.

“Oh man, this is great news! Thank you to the stores that believed and supported Avengelyne! Thank you to fans, new and old, who are jumping onboard this saga," said Liefeld. "I couldn’t ask for a better collaborator than Daniel Mainé! Believe me when I tell you that the best is yet to come, we will continue to make fresh editions available so as many readers who want to can join the adventure!”

This iconic ’90s Liefeld creation will take center stage with an all-new beginning in advance of the already-in-development film at Warner Bros. In Avengelyne, a Priest who is losing his faith is challenged by the emergence of a mysterious Angel. Avengelyne’s arrival invites the attention of Belisle, a wealthy demon lord as she is targeted by demonic forces seeking to turn her to their cause.

Avengelyne #1 is out today!

It's a reboot of the original series, starting from the beginning with cooler art and action scenes. Sadly, Liefeld scripts the book for the first time, so the dialogue feels like it's just filling the panels. I'm curious as to why this series came to be. Rob doesn't usually do full reboots like this.

Reminder! New Youngblood Trade Paperback Is Out.

Just a reminder for everyone that the trade paperback of volume 1 of Rob's newest Youngblood series is available from your comic stores, and online retailers. It collects issues 1-5 of the new series, plus #100. So basically you could say it collects issues 1-100. Hah!

Remember When Extreme Studios Claimed The GIJOE License?

Let's go back to 1994. Hasbro and Marvel's done with GIJOE, and it's still seen as a hot license. Many studios are vying for it. Rob Liefeld claimed Extreme had it in mid-1994. By October it was clear that wasn't true, and the license eventually went to Dark Horse. It was fortuitous to Extreme that they didn't get it, as it flopped badly. Still, GIJOE and Extreme in the 90s would have been quite the intoxicating mix!

Major rehaul of the Extreme Reading Order

I did a major clean-up/"Revision" of the reading order. First, I placed the 2012 relaunch (which is not a reboot, but an alternate Earth) before the Arcade era (from 1998). Hear me out.

The Arcade Era ends with Supreme Sacrifice, which Liefeld confirmed in his blog is about Liefeld's Supreme taking over the Supremacy. The same blog post also confirmed the plot continues in Brigade (2019), which references the 2012 relaunch, so I placed 2012 first to not interrupt the Supreme takeover storyline.

Secondly, I placed Youngblood 2017 as its unique separate continuity ("Darkthornn's Revision") after the writer, Chad Bowers, revealed it takes place in a separate Revision in an interview with Forgotten Awesome. Youngblood 2017 references a few modern stories, but none of them are part of what was left in the "Modern Extreme" section, which works if read later.

Modern Extreme (our current continuity) now is left with the 2008 Youngblood series, then Image United, then the current 2026 Youngblood issues. You go from the last issue drawn by Liefeld (where Obama is kidnapped) to the next issue drawn by Liefeld. Simple and clean.

This issue goes CRAZY! The series fully becomes part of the Last Blood saga, and confirms Last Blood and Heirborne are one and the same!

It also clarifies that Badrock's series takes place after Youngblood 2025.

Strangely, Thomas mentions "he buried his dad 10 years ago", but I'm pretty sure we never saw his dad die in the old comics.

In terms of execution, Liefeld's dialogue gets better and better, even if it just seems to be channeling Kirkman, it's a breeze to read. Sadly, during fight scenes he pulls out his melodramatic narration boxes again. I have no idea who finds these cool. They use the most grandiloquent words for the most straightforward fight you might be seeing. Lowkey reads as a boomer playing with toys and telling himself how baddass it is in his head.

I barely mention Damoose's art because it's a given that it's gorgeous. At one point he draws an entire aircraft carrier in one panel. It's beautiful.

Yes I have these in here as pet of a college 2D design class, unfortunately they will all be getting cut up (don’t worry I have doubles of them all!)

New addition to the Bloodsport collection.

This is where my Bloodsport set of covers sits currently. Just received issue 0 Preview. Wow is the art amazing in all of these! I have the Wizard World Chicago Shaft cover on the way, then it's a matter of scoring the 2003 Wizard World team variant to complete them all.

I now see why there's high demand for extending this title. Bootleg 2, even with the unfinished panels, blows your mind with the chaos taking place. I really wonder where Rob sat mentally on witnessing the destruction of some of his characters in just 2 books. I'm also curious as to who would've remained standing last. The direction of this series could've been written in the perspective of an alternate universe or a lazily written dream state to undo the havoc when it was wrapped. This even could've extended into a new Youngblood team with the winning member to create another Youngblood series.

A small haul, but a mighty one: The Road to Supreme Apocalypse is complete!

Post image

Finally, my copy of Brigade 22 has arrived. This is the final comic I needed to have a complete run from Extreme Sacrifice to Supreme Apocalypse. It's also the last comic I needed to complete my Brigade collection. I still need Prophet 4 if I want to go all the way to the end of Violator vs. Badrock, then I'll probably take a break from classic Extreme for a little while.

I already started reading, so I've been building the road as I go. Took some detours to read Shadowhawk 18 (which is one of the best final issues I've read in ages), The Regulators (it kills me this series was abandoned, it was so good, like a proto Superior Foes) and Bloodstrike Brutalists (still need to read part 3 but 1 and 2 are some of the best Bloodstrike comics ever). Detours aside, I've found that post Extreme Sacrifice, the books have overall drastically improved. I've now got plenty of new recommendations for Bad-Rockin.

Been hunting these down for a while. Ended up finding an online store that sold them for cover price each. Otherwise, the ebay market had them for a lot more. Dig the artwork. Some of the ink work is hit or miss. (It's not bad ink work, just not my flavor style wise) Excited to see what the story brings!

I always thought he fit in unlike combat. Genuinely the most forgettable Youngblood member when you look at the first issue. Combat genuinely has a bad design

Savage Dragon 75

I finally picked up this issue and mainly because of the Super-Tough and Young-Tough adventure referencing Youngblood in the back. A flashback tale also involving Darklord. This is considered, per the Image Fandom Extreme universe reading order to be the one of the first stories mentioning Youngblood. I've edited this post from my original context to fix some information that has been corrected in below comments. Still, my original post mentioned that I was curious of other Youngblood origin mentions besides the one referenced in this issue. Appears to date back to Sentinel in 1981 Team Youngblood issues, but it would be fun if Rob created more origin content in future books.

Shadowhawk! Marat! Extreme! One big haul

I've been busy with work the last few days, so I've only now gotten a chance to show off this awesome haul that's accumulated. First of all is everything I got from one of Marat's recent WhatNot streams. I really wanted the signed copy of Brigade 3 since it's inked by George Pérez. I got into a mighty bidding war battle with the infamous EnglishJimmy, you do not want to get into a battle with that guy, but for once, I made it to the other side. I'm really happy with this signed newsstand edition of Brigade 2. It's different from the regular cover since it doesn't have the mirror coating. Also, I grabbed a funny Do You Pooh cover. I even spent enough to get the bonus MVP cover.

Next, we have the long delayed Blindside all-in-one comic. I ordered this month's ago, and it's been bouncing around customs ever since. Don't know why, but it was driving me a little nuts. Still have plenty of Blindside stuff left to find, but it's another off my list.

Finally, we have my epic Shadowline collection that just arrived. I found an online store that had a ton of Shadowline stuff in stock, so I grabbed as much of it as I could. They strangely missed the copy of Shadowhawk 8 but included a random issue of Marvel Zombies. I did enquire as to what's going on, he said I could get a refund or he could send it in the next order, I guess these things happen. Considering I got it all for around £50 I'm not complaining. Annoyingly, I've run out of bags and boards. So I'll have to wait until my shipment arrives before I can put them into better quality sleeves.

Overall, very happy with all these.

Hello all you Bad-Rockers. Episode eight of Bad-Rockin is finally available on YouTube and Spotify. It was great chatting with my pal Ryan. Apologies for all the delays, but my new job continues to be a pain. On the plus side, we're filming the delayed Seth Damoose episode in just a few days and the Graham episode next week. It's been a rocky road, but hopefully, everything is finally back on track. Look forward to hearing what you all think of the new episode.
