I wish they would have scheduled this game for 3 or 4 pm EDT so there would be some sunshine and it wouldn’t be quite as cold. They’ve changed everything else on the schedule!

So who do we think benefited more from the postponement?

u/WhatsupDoc35 Major League Baseball 7h ago
I think Cleveland because they’ve had a longer road but I don’t see it changing either team’s pitching plans

u/DickBottalico Philadelphia Phillies 7h ago
it has to be Cleveland because of their one day turnaround after white Sox

I wonder if they could have moved this series to Milwaukee, not too far

Seeing very little discussion about the fact that Skubal refused to pitch during Game 4 and if he had been played that game they might not've lost.
I know the offseason is going to be plagued by Skubal bidding war articles but I'm surprised to see almost nothing on his cancerous behavior this year. He only cares about money. Hid an elbow injury in the offseason so it wouldn't hurt his value, then it turned into a full injury and his absence may have cost the Tigers the playoffs. Avoids games where he could give up runs because it would hurt his value. Stole their coffee machine on the way out. Declines pitching in Game 4 because if he bombed it and was the reason the Dodgers lost the series, that would hurt his valuation. And then the Dodgers lost the series.
Whenever given the option between money and being a team player, he always picks money. Which is insane because he got paid like 30 million dollars this year. He already has generational wealth. But he's gotta get that yacht.
The big question is once you get him in a 10 year contract, will he suddenly start putting his 100% into the game? Or will he start phoning in because the bag is secured. We shall find out.

Is it confirmed that he refused to pitch or are you just speculating? I didn’t see that anywhere, only that Roberts said he wouldn’t be pitching

I believe the wording was they asked if Skubal was "available" and the answer was no, which implies playing him was not an option.

All that means is that he was unavailable. I wouldn't be shocked if he said no considering the type of agent Boras is, but your initial comment says that Skubal "refused to pitch" and we don't have any real evidence of that.

DAY 224 (716/799) on THE ROAD TO THE 2027 4th WBSC PREMIER12/16 and 185 YEARS OF BASEBALL - The New Era of Argentine Baseball
Congrats to the Yokohama DeNA Baystars for advancing to the Central League Championship!
With the decision of their league to livestream their games on Youtube, the Argentine League can finally be ready to pivot to the wider world.
As one of two active baseball nations in the southern half of Latin America, this announcement opens the way for that league - and baseball in the nation in particular - to international audiences. This effort, while opening the doors for a potential global fanbaseexpansion, will also be a historic movement to introduce the country's baseball scene to even more audiences and help expand the sport even futher in the country and introducing its unique culture to the baseball world.
The best of luck to all the fans who will be enjoying Argentine baseball this season!
For Glory
John
