MOD ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Rules Updates for r/bisexual

Hello fellow redditors.

As you may or may not know, there was a MOD team shakeup a little while back. Not only were new moderators brought in to rejuvenate the team but the team itself was expanded as well. We now have a great, revitalized team of people working hard to keep this sub a place that people want to come to, engage in, and stay a part of. With this updated mix of new and existing moderators work then began on the sub itself. Beyond the new moderators coming to grips with their new duties, the first step was to fix up some things on the back end. This included relatively minor things such as refining some automod rules to help flag and keep potentially problematic content from ever hitting your screens in the first place. Other small changes such as updating our available post flairs and just cleaning up some long outdated stuff behind the scenes that simply helped us do our job more easily and efficiently. Step one also consisted of our community survey a few months back where we got an idea of what you wanted this sub to be in an easily digestible way. Most of your suggestions aligned with visions of what we had already had in mind for the future here.

So here we are now at step two. In conjunction with a lot of your own suggestions and wishes we are retooling our sub rules (or Bi-Laws). As well as updating some existing language for a few of the rules, we will be adding some new ones. This should be a place of safety, learning, and community and all of these updates and additions we believe are vital to achieving and maintaining that end. This sub has undoubtedly helped numerous lives over the years and can continue to help so many more and we will do all we can to preserve this valuable social tool.

Here are the primary changes we've made to our current Bi-Laws:

______________________________________________

Rule #4: Please be civil with each other.

  • A general rule to remind everyone that this is meant to be a sub for all ages to be able to engage in and that even when disagreeing we should still show each other some general courtesy.

Rule #5: Sex related questions must have safe-for-work subject lines and be flaired “Advice NSFW.”

  • Our first brand new rule. Going forward all sex related posts must have safe-for-work titles and set with our new flair option“Advice NSFW”. We also want all SFW posts to remain SFW. That way, engagement can remain as the original poster intended.

Rule #7: Do not encourage cheating.

  • Potentially the most desired change we saw from the survey responses was to curb cheating content on the sub. We are all aware that cheating happens and can be discussed as a topic. However, encouraging others to cheat, seeking advice on whether to or seeking advice on how to cheat will not be tolerated.

The rest of the changes were minor alterations and removal of some outdated language that don't ultimately change how those rules were implemented or likely interpreted.

______________________________________________

So please keep these new guidelines in mind while posting. Ongoing, step three for us currently is to remain vigilant. We'll assess how these new changes affect the health of our community and see if they steer it the direction we all want. We'll continue to strive for improvement and reevaluate along the way. Ultimately we aim to make this place clean and constructive and in doing so hopefully reach even more people.

MOD ANNOUNCEMENT New Subreddit for NSFW Content

Happy Pride, everyone! Here to announce a new subreddit specifically for NSFW content:
r/bisexualafterdark This new sub will be the place to horny-post to your heart's content, share long/detailed sexual encounters, pornographic descriptions, etc.

As some folks have pointed out, we have had a bit of an influx of this type of content here lately, which breaks r/bisexual sub's rules. As a reminder of two pertinent rules for r/bisexual:

  • Rule 6 No nudity, pornography or hookups: Nude / pornographic and hook-up posts are not allowed anywhere on the sub. Those should be posted in r/bisexualafterdark r/BiSexy (NSFW) or other subreddits appropriate for that type of content. Pornography covers pornographic descriptions as well as images. If you find yourself writing long, sexual, stories you should probably stop.
  • Rule 9 No chat or dating posts. No soliciting DMs: Please do not post looking for chat partners or dating. This includes soliciting DMs. Subreddits like r/meetlgbt or r/r4r are more fitting for this content.

Posts that break these rules will be removed from this sub and redirected to r/bisexualafterdark or chat subs -- our newly expanded mod team is working hard behind the scenes to maintain the sub, make updates, and remove flagged content. If you see these posts, please don't hesitate to flag them. We get a lot of traffic on this sub, so reports help a ton in weeding out content that breaks the sub rules or makes it a less cool place to be!

Go forth and be bi 🩷💜💙

Edit for clarification: dating/DM/meetup posts should go to r/meetlgbt, r/r4r, or other subs specific to meetups

COMING OUT I told my wife and it went really well (Update)

I recently posted here about my anxiety over coming out to my wife.

Well, earlier this week I did it, and it went well. I told her how I felt, and that it didn’t change anything about how I love her and want to be with her and only her. There were a few moments of silence that felt like hours, then she just hugged me.

We talked for a good hour or so about it all. I’ve only just accepted my bisexuality myself, so there were lots of questions and only a few clear answers. She said she was proud of me. I didn’t know what to expect, so I was glad this was her reaction.

I just wanted to share my experience here as several people replied to my original post, and they really gave me the courage to have the conversation. So to those people, thank you so much and I hope you see this 🩷💜🩵

The past few days have been nice and I feel like we’ve become closer. I can tell she is still processing the news and she did say she may explore it with her therapist. I was told to expect this and I completely respect that it’s a big piece of news in our relationship.

I feel so much lighter now, and I’m looking forward to learning more about bisexuality and what it means for me moving forward.

ADVICE Gym Ettiquite and stuff (like steamrooms)

Hey-o

I'm still very new to this whole being attracted to both dudes and dudettes thing, and I'm kinda floundering. I have this great new motivation that's getting me into the gym on the regular but I used to really like hitting the steam-room and now I feel like going anywhere near there would make me a skeevy perv. I'm also kinda scared that "something might come up", if you get my meaning...

Has anyone else worried about this? What did you do? Do I have to live a steam-less life from here on out?

ADVICE How do I talk with guys?

I found out as bi almost 10 years ago but have never actually been with a guy.

In all these years I've liked girls and I've liked boys, but I haven't actually been with a man because the one's I've liked proved to be boring, uninteresting, or worse. That hasn't happened as much with girls and I've had long-term girlfriends, flings, ONSs and whatnot.

So there's this guy at the gym whom I've seen a few times but barely exchanged a nod or a "hey" while walking past each other. So two weeks ago we were training right in front of each other, such exercises and in such ways that I had my line of sight directly to his thighs and his crotch. Between the situation, the grunts, the situation of exercising itself... I had a thought or two, and that same night and a couple more since then I've had certain dreams. I already had a feeling that he was queer because I noticed a couple of glances, but I wasn't sure UNTIL this week we walked past each other and he smiled at me and did the thing about gently stroking my shoulder. So of course I can't get him out of my mind, and I don't even know his name.

But I don't know how to talk with him! I even feel a little embarrassed that I had no problem flirting with girls but I feel like blushing even thinking about him.

QUESTIONING Is it possible to become bisexual ?

I used to be a heterosexual woman. I was SA'ed about 10 years ago. Before the SA, i don't remember being particularly into women. I've always dated men. After the SA, i kept dating men, but started to find women pretty. Recently, i've started being sexually attracted to women (well especially one). A few years ago, before COVID, I had a male sexfriend, and he laughed at how i kept telling him that his girlfriend was so pretty and asked me if i was bi, i said i wasn't. At the time, the thought of having sex or just kissing a woman didn't seem appealing to me. But the trauma came back to me brutally in the face a few months ago, and it became really hard for me to have sex with men. It even became difficult with my boyfriend of 8 years.

I met a bisexual woman today, and she's the first bisexual woman i've talked to (i mean in real life) about, well, bisexuality in women. She told me she became bi after SA too. On another sub, many people told me you don't "become" bi, that you're just born this way, but... It doesn't look like it applies to me. Also, i feel saying that i "became" bi is considered insulting by some people, that would rather say they're born this way.

Thank you for reading me 🙏

DISCUSSION Intimidated by strong men?

I’m a dude who’s recently figure out he’s bi, and got on a couple apps to put myself out there. I’ve only actually been on dates with cis women before, so just testing the waters and looking to move slow.

I notice when swiping or talking to really strong-looking attractive men I’m unexpectedly intimidated by them? Like they are hot but could also overpower me if they really wanted to? Which is a confusing blend of being turned on but also terrified?

I’m wondering if this is a little taste of how smaller people and straight women feel on apps 🫠 Is this a common feeling?

QUESTIONING Am I a Lesbian?

I've been through a lot of trauma in my life. Including religious and sa. I've always liked women but thought I was bi.. But all my relationships with men I felt vulnerable and didn't really enjoy them. With and around women I like I get all shy. I'm not sure if this means I'm gay or just scared.

I want to try dating a woman but im scared.. that I'll go to hell even though I don't believe in god anymore but its ingrained in me.. Or I'm scared I'll feel the same way that I will with men.

So.. what do you think? Gay or scared?

ADVICE How do I handle a sudden tension?

I went to a party tonight. I went outside for a smoke with the people I was with, and I saw a girl sat across me who was clearly wasted (she was with her friends if I assumed it correctly).

I just couldn’t stop looking at her. As I smoked, I just couldn’t help but stare at her a little more longer. My vision was blurry since I often use glasses to be able to see clearly (I was not wearing any tonight), but I could still feel how badly I wanted to approach her, how badly I wanted to feel her.

I dont understand what I am feeling.

DISCUSSION I'm a masculine bisexual man attracted to masculinity in other men. Is attraction different for everyone?

I've always been curious about how differently attraction works among bisexual people.

I'm a masculine guy myself, both in how I carry myself and in my interests, but I've never felt the need to fit the stereotypical "macho man" image.

Physical attraction is obviously important to me, but when it comes to intimacy, I also need some kind of connection. I'm not talking about romance or anything serious straight away. Just getting to know someone, having a good conversation, grabbing a drink, having a laugh and seeing where things go.

Living in London, I sometimes find it difficult to meet, or even recognise, other masculine bisexual guys with a similar outlook. It's a huge city, yet so much of the dating and hookup culture seems to revolve around meeting someone, having sex within five minutes and moving on. Nothing wrong with that, but it's never really been my thing.

Anyway, back to what got me thinking about this!

When it comes to men, I'm naturally drawn to masculinity, whereas with women, it's more about femininity.

What I find interesting is that other bisexual men can have completely different preferences, including being particularly attracted to feminine guys. I've always wondered what makes that difference. Is it looks, personality, energy, or simply something we can't really explain?

I'm not suggesting there's a right or wrong way to experience attraction. I'm genuinely curious about how differently we all experience it.

So, how does it work for you? Does masculinity or femininity play a big part in who you're attracted to, or is it more about the individual?

QUESTIONING J'ai peur de tout gâcher

• Upvotes

LEMON BARS Bi_irl subreddit used to be wholesome

Now it’s porn and I hate it. It became a trans fetish lounge and I’m uncomfortable and kind of ashamed of it. Obviously one stupid subreddit is not the reason for biphobia. But it’s still icky to me

Yeah yeah I already left blah blah blah I’m just venting.

ADVICE (NSFW) Matched with an all male throuple

Hey, 34 here. On one of the apps I matched a with a man part of a throuple. It seems like occasionally they invite in a 4th for some fun, and I happen to be the 4th this time (tonight).

We’ve all been chatting through telegram this past week and it seems like a fun and new experience. They are aware that this is new for me and said that we’ll just go with the flow which I’m happy about. I’m vers. 2 are tops and the other is vers too.

We’re going to meet out at a bar later then go back to their place if all works out. Looking for some advice here - I’m sure they will take the lead. But anything I should try to prepare for with a dynamic like this? Just, any and all wisdom would be appreciated…

QUESTIONING I don’t know what to do

I know it’s stupid and it’s been making me sick the whole da today I’m genuinely in tears about this and it’s the fear that what if I’m not into women the way i think I’m into women I’ve been testing myself the whole of today trying to get aroused or that stomach flip and it hasn’t worked INSTEAD IT HAPPENED TO SOME FICTIONAL MAN and I feel sick now I don’t mind being bisexual I don’t wanna lose attraction to woman at all I’ve had slight crushes I remember this one women I saw on the bus I was genuinely staring and one night I was walking home and saw this women I felt weirdly giddy but I don’t wanna lose the physical feeling am I a fake?? Because for the longest I’ve known that I never wanna have sex with a man at all it’s the feeling of it that’s weird and honestly I don wanna try it when I was slightly younger I used to think I was asexual but really it was the idea of sleeping with a man it was nice conceptually but nothing I want while with a woman I’d love to try I’m currently 18 and I would love to explore that but it’s my fear of being proven wrong that I’m not into women at all that I’m a fake that holds me back it’s such a small thing but it’s hurting a lot

ADVICE Bisexual femboy in need of help

Okay so I'm bi and pretty feminine for a guy but I only get attention from guys and lowkey they're all the same and I get bored of them.

I've never dated girls and non as far as I know want a femboy, so how do I meet girls who like femboys.

I'm 18 and thinking of going to queer clubs and I'm wondering if trying to find bi girls and I kinda have a feeling bi girls might be more interested in feminine guys since I guess I have features of both but I am aware every bi person is different, fuck I'm bi myself so I don't automatically expect them to be attracted to me or anything. But I hope I have atleast a higher chance with them than I seem to have with most straight girls as they only want masculine men :<

Also

I'm not using dating apps

I've also started college but I've only got attention from guys but I really have no interest

Met lots of boys and lots of girls but only the boys want me, and right now I feel little to no attraction to them.

So if there's any bi femboys with more experience please give me a little help :3

And if someone's gonna say "aRE yOU SuRe YuOr bISeXuAl" yes I am fuck you >:3

Also sorry if I seem bitchy rn

ADVICE What am I and what should I do?

I like woman, I am sure about that. But for the past few years I have come to realise that I like looking at dicks. I used to deny it at first but one day I just accepted...

But I am not attracted to anything else...

I fantasize a lot about actually trying something with another man.

I read a lot of straight turned gay erotica and always imagine myself as the protagonist who is turned sometimes by curiousity or by force (please don't hate me).

As I have reached an age which is considered marriage able in my country, the curiousity has grown even more...

Also I am very afraid that if I do get married, I will betray my wife one day....

I can never talk about this to anyone because I am from India. My country is not very supportive to LGBTQ.

Any advice will be welcomed.

QUESTIONING Am I bi-curious or something different…

Hey yall, I’m a happily married (to a woman) 40M. She is absolutely wonderful, extremely supportive, and is my guiding light. I can’t imagine life without her. As a kid I suffered serious emotional and physical abuse at the hands of my dad. My mom was extremely passive during my abuse until my father starting cheating on her and she began divorce proceedings. My family also never talked about sex, and shame was common in my family. I’ve been dealing with these issues in therapy and feel like I’m making good progress.

Now as long as I can remember I’ve had different urges. When I was under ten I tried on the swim suit of a girl I had a crush on. Wasn’t caught and nothing came of it, but it felt nice. Later in my teens, I had some minor experiences with another man but we were both young and it was many years ago. These days my fantasies often involve me being penetrated, either by my wife pegging me or another man. Ideally I’d like to have a threesome with two men while my wife watches. However after ejaculation, all of my bisexual feelings dissipate, and I lose all interest in anything with a penis. I’m struggling with…whatever this is. If anyone has experienced something similar please share, I’m really at a loss.
