No reporter name attached. Stand behind your journalism otherwise you just look like a Conservative shill.

I think it's a problem of this publication using AI to write their articles. It read very much like AI to me which would make sense why they didn't attach a name to it. I noticed the same thing on the articles from them that were attacking the Conservatives.

It's horrible that they're doing this. They should be employing actual journalists instead of resorting to AI slop.

I'm pretty sure they're just printing party press releases and sometimes expanding on them.

You know what's funny... I only see a ton of these kinds of things pop up during election periods. I never see enough of these on the regular which makes me think about how much is flying under the rug.

They save them up to use when it can cause most damage.

Conservatives really aren’t in a position to be calling for candidates to be fired.

Everyone should be holding all public servants to a higher standard than normal, we have a serious accountability issue at all levels of government with all party affiliations and it’s because they all get away with doing bs over and over for decades with no repercussions or a slap on the wrist with pay the missing money back or a fine.

I’ve been telling everyone in my small town to start looking up candidates names on the BC court system online. We have more than one violent offender with a recent criminal record running. People need to scrutinize every candidate.

u/Ironchar 1d ago

that's been largely the problem for the voter base for decades

How.

u/salt989 10h ago edited 10h ago

If you get caught doing backdoor deals, stealing/misappropriating fund , falsifying docs, purposely interrupting investigations/jobs, etc. at any private business you’re fired and blacklisted, why not public servants? Take there golden parachute pensions & benefits, bet you no one dares doing anything shady

Then convince someone to put forward legislation that will stand to a challenge. But right now, zero consequences.

1

u/BorealMushrooms 15h ago

Right. No party is willing to enact any sort of accountability, as all parties benefit from the system which allows them to get away without being accountable for their actions.

do you know what a criminal is? What you just posted is libel.

u/Bigmanjapan101 1d ago

Dirtybulked is a criminal. Come and slap your libel suit on me.

I used the word advisedly: she forged the date on documents, I see that as criminal, it shows an orientation toward criminal behaviour that is not desirable in a candidate for office.

It's a bylaw infraction at the most serious. It's not a crime under the criminal code simply to backdate any old document. It depends on what the document is for.

You calling her criminal despite it not being a crime under the criminal code is what I call criminal behaviour on your part.

Luckily I'm not running for office. As you find it upsetting, I'll just delete it shortly.

Why? Would you let my comment stop you from running for office?

On what grounds?

This is a pretty weaksauce attempt to foment a false equivalency by the Cons.

Like, they're out there having to recall their candidates for supporting Nazis, making racist statements, and being bigots, and then they're calling out the NDP because "well they had a minor candidate who had a conflict of interest this one time, which resulted in her having to take a remedial course".

39

u/BerdLaw 1d ago

Are you telling me Hitler supporters and remedial course attendees don't share the same level of hell

They managed to spin it up enough that I was kinda on their side, but then I looked at the sequence of events lower in the article, which they called so troubling:

On May 1, 2026, investigators requested documents relating to Li’s real estate transaction. [Li represented a buyer purchasing a property she had previously listed for the seller.] On May 21, Li responded without providing the required disclosure forms. After regulators followed up, she submitted the forms on May 24 without explaining that they had been completed long after the transaction.

On May 27, investigators demanded the DocuSign audit records, which would establish when the documents had actually been signed.

Only then did Li acknowledge that the signatures had been obtained during the investigation, approximately one year after they were required, and that the documents had been backdated.

The Superintendent rejected the adequacy of Li’s explanation, finding that she had withheld and concealed information that should have been disclosed earlier.

This honestly doesn't sound disqualifying.

Right. Linda Li commits documented fraud, lies to investigators about it, gets caught again, then gets sanctioned by her professional body for her knowingly participating in illegal behavior.

How is this false equivalence?

11

u/soaero 1d ago

Right. Linda Li commits documented fraud, lies to investigators about it, gets caught again, then gets sanctioned by her professional body for her knowingly participating in illegal behavior.

She got caught in something so serious that her professional organization decided she needed... a remedial education course.

Like, I'm as critical as can be about the BCNDP, but this is a fucking non-story.

0

u/theangleofdarkness99 1d ago

"knowingly tried to conceal information, and misled investigators by submitting backdated documents."

It's Fraud

Sugar coat it all you want. Raise your hand if youve never been found of guilty professional negligence and ethics violations requiring thousands of dollars in fines and forced ethics education. Ethical people have their hands up. Linda Li does not.

  1. Islamophobe
  2. Homophobe
  3. Holocaust denier
  4. Paperwork messup

Guess which one is the NDP?

43

u/championsofnuthin 1d ago

If they aren't dumping candidates in swing ridings why do they get to call out the NDP for not dumping one here?

55

u/Plenty_Past2333 1d ago

Conservative politics are based on grievance and hypocrisy

8

u/userofthename202 1d ago

Failing to report a conflict of interest is way worse than politically motivated threats and supporting adolf hitler. I thought this was common knowledge

Solid landing on that sarcasm. 9/10. 🙏

Yeah, probably should get removed by the NDP. While what she did is not the worst thing in the world, it would be better not to have people who demonstrate they can be dishonest and attempt to conceal not following regulations.

Unfortunately Eby has already nixed that possibility:

“No, I’m not firing Linda Li,” Eby said at a morning event after the Conservative Party of B.C. called for Li's removal.

That being said, perhaps the BC Conservatives should apply as much effort to vetting their own candidates as they do the candidates of other parties. Had they done so, they might not have had to be publicly embarrassed as they were forced to remove multiple ones for racism and other nonsense.

u/LeggoMyLegoLegolas- 1d ago

Yeah as much as I think this person should be ousted, it’s a very big “you’ve got a giant ass log in your eye” moment for the cons

29

u/FallenRaptor 1d ago

That’s rich coming from the Cons.

14

u/Topkind 1d ago

It's called standard practice in her riding

8

u/Ok-Mouse8397 1d ago

Hey Cons, maybe fire your campaign manager for being a racist twit.

2

u/pfk505 13h ago

Yeah so long as the guy who wants to hang other politicians doesn't get fired, neither does Ms. Conflict of Interest.

2

u/Radiant_Sherbert7272 1d ago

So based on the NDP standards she should be getting fired soon.

28

u/FrmrPresJamesTaylor 1d ago

I look forward to it. Wonder when the Conservatives are going to dump Heather Maahs or Katy Merrifield, who are on record as bigots.

12

u/Frater_Ankara 1d ago

What about based on Conservative standards? Clearly they are different but they shouldn’t be.

4

u/IvarTheBoned 1d ago

Sure, as soon as the conservatives dump all their problematic candidates we can then address this sequence of events lower in the article, which they called so troubling:

On May 1, 2026, investigators requested documents relating to Li’s real estate transaction. [Li represented a buyer purchasing a property she had previously listed for the seller.] On May 21, Li responded without providing the required disclosure forms. Do you, in good faith, really find this to be worth disqualifying over? I suspect I know the answer.

1

u/ship_toaster 1d ago

Feels weird to see someone else copy my comment

-3

u/Radiant_Sherbert7272 1d ago

So if a B.C. Conservative candidate hid things from investigators and had been previously fined 8,500 dollars and had back dated documents and had hid evidence that would be acceptable to you? As for other B.C. Conservative candidates. I do agree that they should get rid of some of these candidates who have said some of these really awful things. Good try with the gotcha questions though.

4

u/IvarTheBoned 1d ago

No, no, no. Stop the whataboutism and answer the question.

But yeah, realty bullshit I am not concerned about. Bigotry I am. Science denialism and holocaust denialism I am. Screwing over the working class I care about. Bureaucracy for real estate? Nope.

0

u/theangleofdarkness99 1d ago

Says the person specifically engaging in whataboutism. Your hypocrisy is staggering.

-4

u/Radiant_Sherbert7272 1d ago

I literally just answered the question. I just said that other candidates for the B.C. Conservatives should have been removed.

3

u/IvarTheBoned 1d ago

But you don't care enough to vote for literally any other party. So your words are wind.

1

u/Radiant_Sherbert7272 1d ago

And with that I think we're done here.

-1

u/Weird_Rooster_4307 1d ago

The BC Conservatives are the exact same as the BC Liberals if not worse.

0

u/surveysaysno 1d ago

Are they not one party? Or did you mean NDP?

2

u/Weird_Rooster_4307 16h ago

The BC Conservatives are a rebranding of the old BC Liberals. Basically a used car dealership with a new name because their sales were lagging.

1

u/CanadianLabourParty Thompson-Okanagan 1d ago

Eby should just pull the Uno Reverse card - "We'll fire her when you fire these people"...

We know the BC Cons won't. So, either walk the talk or quit judging.

2

u/Professional-Post499 1d ago

I don't think he should use that tactic. Racist BC Cons candidates who don't answer journalist questions are a dime a dozen. Cons would probably have no qualms about cycling through candidates.
