Desktop Web [Mobile Web] Can Reddit Please Acknowledge and Address The Widespread Spurious Locks of accounts occurring since ~07/08/2026

Hi there,

There have been a flood of posts of people having issues with spurious locks on their Reddit accounts, and arbitrary lockouts and password change requests for around the past 10 days. See:

https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/comments/1vppc1w/

https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/comments/1voevk3/android_account_locked_cant_reset_password/

https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/comments/1vmi39f/

https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/comments/1vkf0ze/

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1viimcs/could_there_be_a_wave_of_account_locking/

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1vjow8c/what_the_hell_is_happening_to_reddit/

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1vpj4p1/my_account_was_locked_can_i_find_out_why/

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1voes1u/account_got_locked_and_it_changed_my_email_to_the/

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1vnskwm/my_account_was_locked_for_security_reasons_i/

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1vmcrrh/my_account_was_randomly_locked_and_now_its/

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1vm9g5m/need_admin_help_unlocking_my_main_account/

This is merely scratching the surface on the number of reports, and there are many more, with it largely seeming to be getting silently ignored by Reddit proper, with support cases to Reddit unanswered.

There was even acknowledgement of "a bug" purporting to be addressed on:
https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/comments/1vl2im4/

To which comments that it's not fixed were ignored and it's abundantly clear it hasn't been, with different people experiencing a few slightly different (albeit remarkably consistent) symptoms. With this many threads having hundreds of "me too" comments, I have a very hard time believing these are individual account compromises at the scale I'm seeing.

Details of my specific issues and exact symptoms and troubleshooting steps are outlined on https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1vkznza/ related to username u/Grim_Fandango92 which has in addition to being locked out, had a spurious account ban with no warning or notification as such. This issue clearly projects well beyond myself though.

Please can Reddit triage, acknowledge and address these clear bugs across the board and communicate out to affected users as such?

Thanks in advance,

A mildly frustrated Redditor

Desktop Web [Desktop Web] Contributions Meter On Profile Page Not Showing Correct Amount

My title lists this issue as a Desktop Web issue, but this is happening for me on ALL platforms. My Contributions meter on my profile page is not displaying the correct amount of contributions. All my posts are showing up on my profile page, and my Karma score counter is including all of my posts, but my Contributions meter has dropped significantly. I know I had a LOT more than 1.1k before getting back into my internet today (I'm positive the total amount was at least TWICE that amount, and I KNOW the comment counter on that Contributions meter is wrong because I have a LOT more than just three comments on my profile page).

I'm positive that this is a bug, and I believe other Redditors before me are stating they're having this same issue. So please fix this as quickly as possible, Reddit.

Desktop Web Copy-paste doesn't work

Whenever I try paste something into the text editor, either everything I had written is replaced, or I can't paste it at all (or rather: no effect), or the text just reverts to an earlier stage. The only way around it is to revert to the old editor, where everything works normally.

I'm using Firefox.

Desktop Web Desktop web /r/all redirecting to reddit.com

Hello! I have been using reddit for a very long time and exclusively use reddit.com/r/all. Currently starting today, it redirects to the reddit home page instead of displaying /r/all. Please restore the functionality that has been working for at least a decade and a half so I don't have to find a new platform.

Edit: Functionality restored. Thank you reddit team, this is the core feature of the platform.

Desktop Web [Desktop Web] Non stop "submitting..." tag when trying to post

Instead of being redirected to one's post following a submission, the page is constantly stuck endlessly loading with a "submitting..." tag at the bottom of the page. The post is actually submitted successfully, but the user remains stuck at this page. This only occurs on old Reddit (I'm on desktop, have not tried mobile).

Example

Note: I hope old Reddit is not being phased out... Old Reddit displays more content (posts/comments) per screen, has less wasted "white space" and does not lag like new Reddit. It would be bad for business as new Reddit's only beneficial features are some mod tools/widgets.

Desktop Web [Desktop Web] Reddit gets stuck on "Submitting..." every time when making a post

This started happening in the last few days, it was completely fine before. Every post i make now, whether its a new post or a comment, gets stuck on "submitting..." forever. The post seems to get made, but instead of redirecting to the new post, it just displays "Submitting..." and stays there.

Happens on Firefox 140.13.0 ESR and old reddit.

Desktop Web Chrome - Unable to save Reddit profile changes: “Error saving changes. Please try again.”

I am unable to save changes to my Reddit profile.

When I edit my Display Name and click Save, Reddit shows: “Error saving changes. Please try again.”

The same issue occurs when I try to update my profile using the Reddit mobile app.

I have already tried:

  • Chrome browser
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Reddit mobile app
  • Trying the profile change again at a different time

The issue persists across these methods.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Reddit profile.
  2. Select Edit Profile.
  3. Change the Display Name.
  4. Click or tap Save.
  5. Reddit displays “Error saving changes. Please try again.”

Expected result: The updated profile information should save.

Actual result: The changes are not saved and an error message appears.

I can provide screenshots if needed.

Desktop Web [Desktop Web] Account issue "we had a server error"

I had to create a new account to report a bug for this account https://www.reddit.com/user/tjkcc/

On desktop with this account when I click on the profile icon I get “we had a server error” message and it won’t redirect anywhere (can't open my own profile).

I can’t post with that account either - every pose gets filtered by Reddit.

The avatar on the account is gone too.

I can still comment and participate with that account.

I never got an abuse notice or anything like that but regardless of that I’ve submitted multiple appeals and support requests in the past few months - never got a single answer from anyone. It’s an account that is important to me, I don’t want to lose it.

Please look into this.

Desktop Web [Chrome] Chat gives "Server error" and I can't find users to start new chats

hi, im writing from another account abt my problem.

Reddit Chat (in my other irl account) has not been working for me for over 24 hours on Reddit Web.

Device: Dell computer
OS: Windows 11
Browser: Google Chrome
Platform: Desktop Web

What is happening:

  • My profile page shows my correct avatar, but the profile icon at the top of Reddit shows the yellow default Reddit avatar instead.
  • I can log in normally and access my profile.
  • I can view posts and comment normally.
  • I can see my existing chats.
  • However, I cannot send messages in my existing chats.
  • When I try to start a new chat, I cannot find/search for users.
  • My Chat Requests setting has always been open to everyone.
  • The chat area/settings sometimes shows "Server error."

What I expected:
I should be able to send messages in existing chats and search for users to start new chats.

What actually happens:
Chat does not work, user search does not work, and I receive a "Server error".

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log into Reddit on Chrome using Reddit Web.
  2. Open Chat.
  3. Open an existing conversation and try to send a message.
  4. The message cannot be sent.
  5. Try to start a new chat and search for a user.
  6. Users cannot be found.
  7. Chat/settings may display "Server error."

This has continued for more than 24 hours.

I am using Reddit Web, not the Reddit mobile/desktop app, so there is no Reddit app version to provide.

Desktop Web Block User function abused by trolls, desktop web

I think this is a bug or at least unintended behaviour, because it allows abuse. (either way something needs to be done about it)

Example situation, lets take 3 users... I'm going to call them FlatEarther, Scientist and Bystander to highlight how ridiculous the situation can get.

FlatEarther starts a discussion in comments. Scientist replies to FlatEarther.

Flatearther replies to Scientist with insults and unfounded accusations then blocks him.

Then Bystander also replies to Scientist asking about these accusations.

Scientist now cannot reply to Bystander in this comment chain because FlatEarther blocked him. In fact, Scientist now cannot reply in ANY comment chain under FlatEarther comments.

FlatEarther now starts comment chains under several posts and takes part in several discussions spreading misinformation and accusations. Every time someone refutes his claims, he does the same thing.

Scientist is not a single user, it's several hundreds of users getting blocked.

There is a certain troll who does this in almost every thread for over 5 months now in certain subreddit. This situation is ridiculous. You should not be blocked from replying to other people just because there is some troll in the chain. You also should not be able to block someone right after replying to them.

Desktop Web [ios]- Every post still removed after account restrictions were lifted

Reddit Admin confirmed that my account was accidentally caught by the spam filter and that they lifted all restrictions.
However, every post I make is still being “Removed by Reddit for violating the Content Policy.”
This happens with photos, random text posts, and even completely SFW posts in SFW communities.
My profile is publicly visible and I can’t submit another appeal because Reddit recognizes that my account is no longer restricted.
Could the spam filter still be affecting my account even though the restrictions were lifted?

Desktop Web [Android][Iphone][Desktop Web] NSFW Communities are not showing up in IOS, Android, and PC Web Browser

Hello mods and tech team,

I would like to ask, few days ago some of NSFW communities that I often follow are still there and showed up whenever I search them up.

But today, I cannot find them either using Android, Iphone, and PC Web Browser.

I tried to update the apps as well as the browser (using chrome & brave).
And I made sure that all the setting preferences are correct.

Is there any update regarding NSFW communities recently that might explain this issue?
I believe some of the people here also experiencing similar issues.

Desktop Web Main account unusable for 4.5 months – “We had a server error” – no response to appeals desktop web

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out what's happening to my main Reddit account and how I can get it restored.

My main account is over a year old and has around 800 karma. However, for the past 4.5 months, I've been unable to use it properly. I can't send messages to anyone, create posts, or use the account normally.

Whenever I try to do something, a red notification appears saying “We had a server error.”

I've submitted numerous appeals through different channels, but nothing has changed, and I haven't received any useful response. I also haven't been able to find a way to contact the moderators or anyone who could explain what happened to my account and why I can no longer use it.

It's incredibly frustrating to have an account that I've spent over a year building become unusable for months without any clear explanation.

Does anyone know how I can get my account restored? Is there a way to contact an actual Reddit admin or support representative who can investigate the issue? Has anyone experienced the same problem and managed to fix it?

I'd really appreciate any advice or help. Thank you!

Desktop Web Firefox web My 500-Day Streak progress was reset from 388/500 to 3/500

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello,

My Reddit streak progress toward the 500-Day Streak achievement was reset from 388/500 days to 3/500 days.

I had been maintaining my streak continuously. I do not have a screenshot of the 388/500 counter, but my achievement history confirms that I reached the 400-Day Streak on August 5, 2025.

My profile still shows the following streak achievements: - 300-Day Streak — April 19, 2025 - 365-Day Streak — June 26, 2025 - 400-Day Streak — August 5, 2025

However, my current 500-Day Streak progress is only 3/500 days.

The 3/500 progress is shown consistently on Reddit web and on my iPhone.

Could you please check my account's streak history and investigate why my previous progress was reset? If possible, I would like my previous streak progress toward the 500-Day Streak to be restored.

I have attached a screenshot showing my existing streak achievements, including the 400-Day Streak achievement.

Thank you.

Desktop Web [Chrome] My chats are completely broken

Post image
2 Upvotes

Posting this here since I didn’t really get any help on my previous post, other than the bot telling me to come here if the issue was still happening.

My chat previews are completely gone and instead of showing the latest message, they just say “group created” with the usernames are also being replaced with random gibberish.

And the chats orders itself is still all over the place. New chats aren't appearing where they should, so it’s really easy to miss messages.

This is getting seriously frustrating because I’m literally missing messages and only noticing them much later. Is anyone else dealing with this too?? How do I fix this? A human response would really really really be appreciated.

[I censored their PFPs and part of their names. The blacked-out parts aren't part of the issues but the random gibberish replacing their names is. I'm not really sure how this stuff works, so I'd rather play it safe and not risk making them identifiable]

Edit: It's FIREFOXXXXX!!!!!! not CHROME dammit sorry :[

Desktop Web [Desktop Web] Can't Block

I am not able to block any Reddit account. Every user gives me the error ‘You can't block [username] for 24 hours after unblocking them,’ even though I have never blocked or unblocked them. I am nowhere near the 1,000-account limit. Adding usernames manually under Privacy → Block accounts adds the username to the list temporarily, but after saving, the usernames disappear and the accounts are not blocked.
