Hi everyone! I am nowhere near as active as I used to be on here. I still love cactus, and love the sub, but am in need of some extra hands to help keep this place cool!
If anyone has any interest, please DM me!

I live in NW Tucson where native cholla are abundant. However I have never seen a monstrose mutation. I was taking a walk this morning and noticed this in a neighbor’s yard. Needless to say, I will be hoping to have a conversation with them about a cutting or two which I would graft onto some rootstock. And if it ever flowers, I will definitely try to get some seed. Here is what I found on Google about it.
The monstrose cholla—most commonly known as the Boxing Glove Cactus or Crested Cholla (Cylindropuntia fulgida var. mamillata f. monstrosa)—is a rare, naturally occurring mutation of the chain fruit or jumping cholla native to the Sonoran Desert in south-central Arizona and parts of Mexico

114 pots made it inside before the forecasted first freeze. Is there an AA group but for cacti addicts?

Yesterday I was inspecting my cactus collection because we had a very windy day, weather-wise, and noticed this orange thing coming out of my Ogun cut of a pachanoi I have. I have seen aerial roots several times, but never one this color. I quickly took a picture of it and posted it on here to ask questions, because I was confused as to what it was. After several minutes, I came back on to Reddit and deleted it, because I finally figured it out. It was a piece of weed trimmer string that had fragmented off when I was working in the backyard a couple days prior. The odd thing was, there isn't any grass that I trimmed within 5 feet of my collection and this particular cactus is three rows deep. Haha. Anyway, thought I'd share.

Longtime lurker here on Reddit, figured it was time to say hi! 🌵
Been growing for about 5 years here in VA, mix of indoor and outdoor cacti. I tend to keep my favorites inside to grow year-round, then move ’em outside as they outgrow the tent or the weather warms up enough to form an outdoor squad. Collected lots of good stuff over the years from the usual suspects here on Reddit and in FB groups.
It’s finally getting cold here, so almost time for the annual chop chop! Anything that doesn’t fit in the tent will get moved into the garage to overwinter before a hard freeze. Love seeing everyone else's gardens and collections, figured I'd finally share some of mine! 🤙🌵

I just did a video cutting a half dozen different types of cactus ! I talk about how small of cactus you can cut , when to cut cacti , where to cut a cactus and try to answer a bunch of questions that were asked in previous videos !!!
Of course there are many different answers to all of these questions and it’s always nice to pick up some tips and tricks on how other people do things . I love learning and I enjoy reading other people’s Cactus growing advice in the comments of my videos !!
Videos can’t be posted here but I thought this was an interesting discussion we could all learn from each other here ! The full length video is on my channel if ya wanna check it out !!!

Hey cactus friends! 🌵🤗
Trying out a new rooting setup with some of my favorite genetics! The goal is to encourage healthy root development while hopefully speeding up the rooting process.
I’ve got a couple of bins going with straight perlite, plenty of drainage holes on the sides and a billion underneath, and a whole lot of cactus babies ready to put down some roots! 🌱
Experimenting with different cutting sizes, from tiny pups to some pretty chunky pieces, to see how they respond.
Curious how many of you have tried rooting in straight perlite versus traditional cactus soil or other mediums?
Would love to hear what’s worked best for everyone! Always learning and growing alongside these beautiful plants. 🌵💚
Happy growing, friends! 🤙🏼

Switch soil mix on my cacti planters and Torch cactuses grew up and got really chunky this season, gave blooms several times.
Peanut cacti got transplanted from cinder blocks and completely transformed in just a few weeks, still giving blooms. These little guys are resilient as heck.

I love my Viewing Area (backyard)
Built my house a few years ago with the most amazing brick patio off the master. I kept these two awesome saguaros in the middle.
I've posted pics of them before but they keep bringing in the money shot!

The second of 2 shelves with Gymnos in 2¾"/7cm pots and some flowers from earlier this year.
Unfortunately a few more burn and rust victims here too.

I picked up and planted around 30 the other day. Picked up another almost 80 and planted 63 more, leaving out 15 mid cuts.

I’ve been guilty of cactus neglect. Wanted to know if anyone has an idea of what what’s going on with these guys. Hoping things haven’t gotten too far, and I have a chance to treat them still.
