It's actually about my third save. Currently playing one with just Scraps as a mechanitor right now. (Don't worry, all three previous runs ended well, I just got bored of the save file. The squad even survived a total global nuclear war on one save!)
There is a mod on the workshop that allows you to play on 'alien worlds', that are usually one or two biomes across, with various interesting effects. One of them is a 'toxic planet' that's all massively polluted with poisonous oceans.
Depending on how severe of an apocalypse you're after, you can combine dozens of mods.
Events+ Lets you have apocalyptic ice-ages or global warming that actually alter the biomes of the world map. (And in one extreme case, the sun dies and the world is plunged into absolute zero forever)
Vanilla Quests Expanded: Deadlife lets you have a shambler apocalypse that will slowly destroy settlements on the world map over the course of a few years.
IRBM allows the aforementioned global nuclear war in which industrial factions start lobbing nukes at eachother (And plunges the world into a 10-year long nuclear winter that's essentially a toxic fallout+acidic smog+severe volcanic winter all wrapped up in one)
it seems I was proven wrong after all! orions paw is still intact and the plan was executed flawlessly! …unless it all caves in now from all the force stringbean put in that swing… the cracks are getting bigger… they’re dragging teddy INTO the cave… oh god.
I was so looking forward to the climax of that difficult and risky rescue mission. And wow, Stringbean looking like an absolute BADASS with that decisive swing. Although he may have forgotten Orion's instructions in this moment of self-reflection...
We are looking at a potential cave-in, I hope everyone will get out of the way before that happens. Especially Orion, he seemed to be taken aback by that, and probably fell on his ass. With no one to help him up.

Stringbean would make a great home remodeler. Need a kitchen extension, they’ll get it done in one swing. Or maybe a baseball player with a swinging arm like that.

All these peeps with their negative opinions of Orion, sheesh. Let's see how friendly you are with insecurity and anxiety you refuse to address, an ego you feel the need to maintain to not appear weak and useless, and staying calm in a genuinely stressful situation where you either succeed on the first try, die a slow and painful death, or physically injure the friend of a friend because of your own shortcomings. Orion might be rude and unfriendly, but people going over the top with their declarations that they should be injured or thrown off a cliff or whatever is a bit much, isn't it?
Here's hoping that the cave either settles or that they have enough time to get their stuff before a possible cave-in.
hating on orion is a little bit of an outlet for me because of the way i feel in real life right now. My boyfriend and i have been dating 4 years and we are looking at another 2-3 years of long distance. Just got back from a visit this week and have been crying for hours and hours every day. I open reddit in exhaustion and shit on the little purple guy, but i do in fact understand why he is doing what he's doing. Good thing it's a just fictional character and saying "orion's a piece of shit" hurts nobody
Actually, in fact, i might relate a bit to Orion right now. I'm powerless to do much about me and my boyfriend's situation. Not strong enough or capable enough to support both of us and it eats away at me every day.
Only responding to how Orion directly told a terrified Teddy that "I would leave you to rot". Orion, in a space where no
NO ONE is attacking him, no one is insulting or ridiculing him, everyone is just SCARED, Orion chose that moment to dig and dig and dig to make CERTAIN that Teddy was upset and terrified.
I don't CARE about Orions backstory or ego or anything. Like I understand how one gets into that position, BUT it is HIS responsibility to stop being an antagonistic dick when there's zero prompt for it. While everyone HAS already attempted to be soft with him, he is taking the moment that people are most vulnerable to twist the knife.
Sure there's a reason, but it is still WRONG for him to be doing. Villains can be redeemed in media, but for now he is a villain.
I wanna give serious credit, the framing and chosen composition leading up to the hit, and yhe stylization chosen for the impact are EXTREMELY well executed, I -feel- that impact. Stringbeans mouth curling in to highlight their eye being wide open (appearing similar to their brow, both darkened) while potentially unintentional, really emphasized how focused he was. Super kudos, excellent work. Orion looks surprised but not scared to me, which is interesting and I'm curious how he will continue to act going forward.
Notice how Orion isn’t there in the last panel. They’ve likely already booked it out the hole, because of the force behind that swing has probably caused the exact cave-in they warned about… and the other two are dragging Teddy INTO the cave…
YES!! OH MY FUCKING BUTTERCUP! So frigin amazing. The expressions, effects, movements! All of it looks so well done and oh gods i am so damn glad he is okay! IN YOUR FACE, ORION! Get surprised by determination and companionship!
Well, Teddy is free at leats, but it doesn't look like they are out of the woods yet. I suppose they are going to have to deal with a cave in, and without the proper tools now too
Soooo… I’m happy that they got Teddy out for sure, but Uhhhh… I think Stringbean hit a lil too hard… I remember from the last page, “too hard could cause a cave in”
