Anniversary Classic So long TBC
Wow Forever kind of killed my desire to play TBC and my guilds desire to raid. I had never done BT or Sunwell before so a bit bummed that I probably won't now. But I didn't want to pug it. Just seemed way more stressful than it was worth.
I know its sounds stupid, but I really didn't want to leave my character just stood by the mailbox in Shattrath for the rest of time. I Played this character more than maybe any of my previous characters (apart from maybe my WotLK mage). In total I put 15 days, 4 hours, 43 mins into it, which isn't that much compared to other players, but is pretty much all the free gaming time I have.
So decided I would find a nice place to leave him. Went to a peak in Nagrand, figured it was the kind of place you could sit and rest for a while.
See you all in Forever.

You know what's sad? Realizing that you remember the last time you played with someone, but you didn't know it was the last time. The last time you spoke. The last "see you later." The last raid with the guild. The last 5 man. The last BG. The last arena. We never know when things will come to an end.
It's the same with pets, family members, and close friends IRL.
The older we get, the more people we lose, sometimes without even knowing when they passed away.
I hope we'll all see each other again in the afterlife.

And when those times get old enough that you can not remember specifics. Like I cannot remember the name of the guild I used to raid and talk with in Draenor / Legion. Remember quite a few details about the guild but have never been able to remember the name.

im still in the discord of my guild from WotLK classic. The first guild I really enjoyed being in. no messages in there since 2024. They were good dudes, maybe I will bump into them in forever

Leave some messages in the general saying you're going to be playing WoW Forever and to contact you. Others might come back and see it.
I'm glad discord allows old servers and stuff. When I played WoW it was Teamspeak or Ventrilo and those servers are all shut down

I remember saying this to my father when he came to visit me.
I didn't know it then - neither did he.

Omg, please stop. Now I cry and remember my friend. Saw him last year at a birthday. We both where glad to see. He passed away two months later and I'm very grateful to had the possibility to see him again. I miss you Dennis!

MoP guild did their final raid Tuesday to give folks a break before Forever. Left my Warrior seated in the Pig and Whistle Tavern in Stormwind. Was the place of many guild meetings, fantasy football drafts, and celebrations over the years on Grobbulus.
Good times, hope something happens with those characters eventually but none of us are holding our breath.

My MoP guild has been holding on to the hope that WoD would be announced, but it seems unlikely. Last raid on Thursday. Many including myself have quit, so they struggle with roster, but I have helped out as much as I could when roster was in a tough spot.

Yeah, my cope is a retail transfer is coming eventually. Letting those toons rot just feels bad. I wouldn't play retail often but it's better then MoP era imo.đ¤ˇââď¸

I think the only thing they can do is make them go retail. MoP Era makes absolutely zero sense, because you run celestials to catch up. So the content would be celestials->SoO pretty much. Vanilla Era makes more sense in that regard even though they also skip steps.

When i stop playing a character, i always leave them in a place i'd think they like.
Can be a inn, can be anywhere i spent a lot of time, it's stupid but i like RP and i think they deserve a nice place and some peace.

I played a troll shaman from the start of classic, recently quitting in MoP after my guild died while everyone waited for blizzcon news. So many years maining that character.
I gave them a more casual troll tribal styled transmog instead of some big battle armour, travelled to Sen'Jin village, and logged off next to the pond. They had travelled the world fighting all sorts of evil, and then finally went home.
Bit nerdy, but it felt like drawing a line under OG classic for me.

I did the same thing with my rogue in MoP - I left him watching over the gates of ogrimmar. 7 years, 3 different servers on that character

2019-2026 7 years
3 server transfers assuming transferred from dead/imbalanced server in vanilla, transferred again sometime in tbc/wotlk/cata for same reasons and the final transfer when they merged all the mop servers

I do the same thing with my characters. Its so dumb but i get so much joy out of it. When i "kill" a character, i just take them back to their home town or a nearby place to their hometown, have them chill at an inn on a hammock and just pretend like their exploits awarded them a life of luxury after im gone. My thunderfury tank is the only exception, i spent too much time getting that thing to give him a proper sendoff

I usually sell my accounts. Most of the time, it's not even about the money. It's about the feeling that I accomplished something great, that someone appreciates what I achieved, and that the account will continue to be played by someone else.
I hope the new owners keep selling the accounts and passing them along, keeping them alive and moving them forward.
Maybe one of my old accounts is still out there in Retail
Most of those accounts would be ancient by now. Chances are they're just inactive accounts, gathering dust. Still, one can dream

Couple guildies gave their gold to one of the guys who kept playing and the guilty who received the gold got a 2 week ban and lost all his gold.
Assume what you want but Iâve known these guys for years and seen them farming their own gold/ mats to sell on ah to make gold. Theyâve all traded several times on these chars since classic anni.
Was wild to see the ban happen first hand. The guy appealed over a dozen times and never got it overturned or gold back.

I think it's more likely for the current classic era servers to entirely die than for Forever to flop, despite not necessarily being stoked for it after all the clarification they've done over the past month. I'm not entirely sure I just wanted classic with a bunch of QoL.
After all the weird/cool stuff they did with SoD I expected a lot more changes to classes tbh.

The way things have been going Iâm starting to think Forever might turn more into SOD and will lose a lot of players and Classic Era will always be there. Of course they will lose a lot at first but I think people will come back

Sod still had a big player base at the end the only reason a bunch of people stopped and never came back was because of phase 3 and phase 4 was a little rough too but after that the game was fun as fuck

Yeah I only had like 8k gold and gave it to two ppl who are playing and hoping for Wrath, but even if it doesnt come they will use up that gold better than just sitting my offline character.

It's what I have been doing. I farmed roughly 50k manually. all primal shadows i unloaded in p3 and less than a week later forever got announced. I been running around starting zones giving new players 250-500g at a time.

It's the same 15 dollars a month. You can play both since TBC is raidlog status. There are some guilds wanting to finish the content so as long as you are a good player and NOT a Rogue, you can find a spot. That is what I did. My guild quit so I found another easily.
The real problem is, ZulAman is a garbage raid, a prolongued phase of 10 man only makes your 25 man guild have 5 people excluded and even more of a reason for people to quit. They should launch Sunwell and ZulAman together but they wont.

To be honest I just donât have the time. My gaming time is super limited, even if I did just log in to raid it would be taking up time I will want to put into forever

I thought exactly the same thing when I got up there. To the point I thought I had accidentally set mine to low or something. But no? Everything in the graphics settings set to as high as possible.

That little floating island in your third picture is where my 2019 classic mage is at. Made it through the whole trilogy and logged her off before cata dropped. It's definitely a bittersweet moment to log off a character like that for the last time.

Itâs a shame. TBC was my favorite expansion of all time, but anniversary has stained that memory. The community was the worst gaming community I have been part of - and I was playing wow since 2005. I really hope this hard reset Forever provides us will allow the community to focus on the right things again.

they did tbca so fucking dirty. my guild got 5/9 BT and straight up dropped tbc raiding the moment beta opened
i dedicated HUNDREDS of hours raiding with them in p2 for them to suddenly drop the expac permanentlyÂ
this happened to basically half the tbc playerbase, and if youre in my position, i'm sorry

TBC isn't going anywhere. Right now as I type this there are 20 raid pugs going on Spineshatter EU PVP. Plenty of dungeon groups aswell as plenty of BGs. No need to me melodramatic

Our raid group has/is slowly collapsing. We spent an hour on Thursday trying to fill just 5 people. So yes it isn't going anywhere it's going to get significantly hard to form a raid and especially hard for under demand classes like rogues and warriors.

Nowhere in this post did OP mention it invalidated the Era servers. But don't be obtuse and act like right now the classic servers aren't suffering population loss. And they will for awhile, Forever is where people are currently and we all pay a sub for an mmo. Everyone wants to be where the people are, and the people are not on the classic Era server.
And they won't be for months, so tbc is dead at the moment, let people feel sad they didn't do BT or Sunwell. Those are fun big raids.

I keep reading this opinion and I just don't agree with it. Sure there will be people that will continue to play BC or Wrath if it comes (which I don't think it will) but the population will be small.
I really don't think forever is going to be a temp thing. I don't see why people would leave it to come back

I never said it was gonna be a temporary thing. But just like every version of Warcraft people will try it out in masses and then some people will leave because they want to play something that they enjoy. Warcraft forever is not classic and it is not retail.

In the end anniversary was essentially a seasonal server.
