WPL: New Comics Discussion for 10/14/2026- Pull of the Week: Doom Patrol #2 [Discussion]

The [Weekly Pull List results]() for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Doom Patrol #2.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Doom Patrol or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.

Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

It was fun to see Tim be cool again but the ending confused me, I was under the impression that Bernard already knew he was Robin by now?

Also why was Tim shirtless, I don’t mind the fanservice but it was strange that the story starts off with his shirt missing and it’s just never brought up.

That’s apparently what Fraction says, yeah.

Maybe they used Tim’s shirt to bandage the wound?

Bernard knew about Tim’s superhero life as shown in Megan Fitzmartin’s Tim Drake run.

Yeah but Fraction seems to writing him as unaware.

That was fantastic. Loved to see Duke getting something to do, probably the most action the guy got since his inception? Stuff like this really sells the dimensions of a city-wide catastrophe. And shows that Gotham's inhabitants are just built differently.

My favourite was probably the final one, because it was the funniest. Also the pure thought of having to work for Gotham's board of tourism and having to deal with PR after another bi-monthly catastrophe hit the city is equal parts depressing and hilarious.

Also hooray for Tim getting to be cool (and shirtless)!

I liked getting a chance to see what Tim is up to, but I really just do not buy him sitting on the sidelines while all of this is happening. If there is ever a reason for him to actively come out of retirement instead of just reaching to things he happens to come across, this is the time.

For the first backup, I like that two civilians named Lance and Joy get to eat food in the apartment. Overall, this backup is good.

For the second backup, I like that Duke Thomas saved Freddie and Beth’s lives from the plant monsters. Overall, this backup is good.

For the third backup, I like that the four kids tried to save Gotham from the plant monsters. Overall, this backup is good.

For the fourth backup, I find it interesting that Duke dealt with the TUCOs before he saved his life. Overall, this backup is good.

For the fifth backup, I like that Tim was able to defeat ninjas and save the people of Gotham, predicting that his forced and unnecessary romantic relationship with Bernard would result in them breaking up. Overall, this backup is fine.

For the sixth backup, I like that four people try to make a pitch about Gotham before seeing a giant vine caused them to get their pitch, making it super easy and barely and inconvenience. Overall, this backup is good.
