Forget where I saw it, but someone put forth a theory it's to discourage business travelers from sharing rooms

But really this bs is why i once canceled a while week's reservation for my family at one hotel.
Never booking there again

I mean if I'm traveling for business I don't want to share a room with a coworker lol. Good for business travel, bad for personal travel

Yeah, I did a summer business travel for my company, twenty different hotels, not once was "oh just share a room" brought up.

I will to this day refuse to share a room with a coworker. We're coworkers, not intimate friends despite how cheap finance is.
