I had a friend become a born-again Christian. They changed their name to a Biblical name and asked people to stop using their "sinner name."

The irony of them not understanding trans people changing their names was completely lost on them.

Any western name can be traced back to someone in the bible. I've yet to hear any exceptions

There's plenty of exceptions. Lots of names filtered down from pre-christian societies. Biblical names are extremely common, but you don't even have to look that hard. Edward, for an easy example.
