Yeah no thanks. In Sweden you get paid 80%+ of your salary when you're sick, you stay home to take care of your sick kids, and you don't go back until you're better. If you've got the stomach flu you don't go back until two days after symptoms stop. Plus there's 5-8 weeks of vacation, you get lots of holidays, and if a holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday you get the Monday and Friday off too. Wanna talk about the 480 days of paid maternity/paternity leave?
Sure kinda like the 5 vs 6 weeks of vacation depending on if you're hourly or salary and the 8 weeks depending on if you're working for the government, your age, the company, etc. Getting into the weeds like that when I'm comparing to the US where most people only take/get two weeks. I had a job in the US where I just didn't show up between Christmas and New Years, since why would anyone, and they thought I was not taking the job seriously.
I don't agree that this is getting into the weeds of it.
You wrote 5-8 weeks of vacation. Which is correct enough. 25 days minimum is in the law.
But getting a klämdag is not in the law. So it is not always the case.
So I think there's a difference, and was worth pointing out.
But whatever, we do have it quite good here whether one have it or not in their contract! Haha
In the US we "got" two weeks. Imagine the culture shock when I was basically getting over 4x as much time off in Sweden. Whether it's 3.5x off or 4 is kinda what I mean by getting in the weeds.
