MOD Good News, Complainers: AutoMod Adjustments

Complainers,

We’ve loosened up the AutoMod filters. 🎉

Some of you noticed things were a bit restrictive, posts and comments with normal swearing or harmless insults were getting snagged. That’s not what we want. This sub is for complaining, and complaining isn’t always pretty.

So here’s the deal:

  • ❌ Racist, hateful, homophobic, transphobic, and otherwise discriminatory garbage is still not welcome.
  • ✅ Everyday profanity, insults, and general salty language? Go for it. Complain away.

Our goal wasn't to censor you — just to keep the temperature cool enough that people can keep complaining without things boiling over.

That said: it’s totally fine to disagree with each other. That’s part of complaining. But keep it from tipping into threats, straight-up dickishness, or starting flamewars for the sake of it. Disagree, vent, roll your eyes, move on — but let’s not torch the place.

As always, please flag posts/comments that are genuinely hateful or break Reddit’s sitewide rules and the mod team will get on it.

Other than that… keep the complaints coming, you grumps.

Rejected from an Amazon Warehouse job literal seconds after applying.

What stinks is that I have been waiting for my local Amazon warehouse to start mass hiring like they usually do around this time. Then last night at around midnight I looked on the site and I saw that there were positions available finally so I went and applied, did the assessment and everything, and after I completed it all I immediately got hit with a rejection letter.

I'm kind of baffled because how is this possible? Don't you have to be on a literal list to not get hired at an Amazon warehouse or are they being selective with their hiring as well? Honestly really bummed out, especially since I'm homeless and have been homeless for a while it stinks that I got rejected from what I thought to be the easiest job to get into. Losing hope at this point.

I lost nearly a hundred pounds. Now I'm running the heat in mid-October

I used to be able to make it until at least mid November, sometimes late November before turning the heat on. But now that I no longer have any insulation, I start shivering every time I try to turn off the heat to conserve energy. All of the money I'm saving from not over eating is now going towards my gas bill.

Why can't they be kind to people? Why do you say such superficial words?

Glad to find a place to complain about anything (let's see how true that is)

So im sick to hell of pathetic no life sad sack losers who get the teeniest iota of power and decide that they can abuse that power and force their thoughts and feelings into the mix because a particular wording has them think something violent, those pathetic people who abuse power and take peoples right to free speech away from them because they would use those words to mean something violent when that's not the point of what's written, im glad there is Mods out there protecting people from actual legit harm and shit but when those same Mods decide to take things out on those they are there to protect thats something I strongly disagree with, an honestly i hope the dropkick losers who Modded me on a Alt find this and discover they are legit just pathetic wastes of humanity.

It's already bad enough that I need to put up with that dude when I'm just trying to enjoy a TV show. But that motherfucker has been shoved down my throat so much that he was in a dream I had. I don't even want you on my TV, let alone my sleeping mind. Ugh.

my little brother plays oculus in the middle of the living room and it drives me fucking crazy

we’re both teens so we live with my mother, and our house is relatively small. so he plays in here instead of his room

he’s only playing gorilla tag, but he’s a big guy and he swings his arms obscenely hard for a vr game. he’s broken his controllers multiple times hitting them on things or losing his grip and flinging them across the room like projectiles because he’s swung them so hard

this wouldn’t really be a problem if i weren’t constantly in danger of being hit any time i decided i wanted to relax on my couch

it’s to the point that my mom just advises me not to sit on it if he’s playing, but he can play for literal hours. and even if i weren’t to sit there, it’s not like i’m safe anywhere else other than my room. i just watched him extend almost to our dining table with his swings. i would be in my room as i type this but it’s kinda in disarray bc of some housework.

she expects me to just work around him, and refuses to tell him to just play in his own damn room. or, god forbid, just make his fucking play area smaller so i’m not constantly afraid of being slugged in the face

we also have 3 cats that he’s accidentally kicked or stepped on multiple times playing.

it’s just frustrating because then it becomes my fault when i am hit for “not avoiding him better” or “not saying anything fast enough when i need to pass him” as if the issue is me and not the 6 foot boy flailing around in the living room.

If stores leave sale signs up past the sale date then they should still honor the sale.

I really hate the toxicity in people...

I'm from LA, US so it's extra bad here...

But it's just, why do people have to be so nasty and mean? Even people you know and love?

It's like they don't experience healthy coping mechanisms to deal with negative (not nasty, negative) criticism and so they just call you a bunch of nasty things and say you're wrong, because THEY don't want to accept that someone else might be right?

In particular, I got into an argument with someone. He's my ex, but also my best friend. We were discussing getting back together but every time I made a call to something negative but truthful in our relationship that I experiences from him that has factual evidence behind it, it's being denied as untruthful. Every time I say how something affected MY FEELINGS, I'm selfish. When I talk about remembering things or whatever, dismissal "Uh huh, yeah, sureeeee" trying to gaslight me?

But he's awful at them so they are ready to point out and then he gets even more upset. Bruh, this is why we're not dating...

The number of people I will come across who are justifying grooming or have been groomed is very worrying.

It's constant, to the point of why I even care about grooming, what's the point when a huge Chuck of people don't.

What's with people here who downvote if I say I don't like a certain movie/person or keep on trying to prove thier point as right, endlessly?

When people dont stick to the subject of the post or comment without answering the main question

This shouldn't make me as mad as it does, but I pretty much regret every single post I ever make anywhere because of this.

You make a post about a specific sort of question. Lets say its a question about a specific way labor laws are applied in a unique situation and google was no help. So you post in a subreddit *dedicated to asking questions about labor law* so you understand the situation better before actually talking to your manager.

You are not asking advice on navigating work place politics. You are not asking how to approach your manager. You are not even asking if its something you need to know. You are just asking a point blank question and hoping for a straightforward answer.

Instead you get maybe 1 straight answer out of 50 comments. Every other person is giving you workplace advice, or insulting you for needing workplace advice when you never asked for it. People are being assholes saying you're an idiot for wanting to know about anything before talking about it. People are insulting you for not knowing how to have a conversation, while also assuming you're an inept 20yr old at an entry level position with no problem solving skills outside of jumping straight to asking strangers on the internet how to think. Meanwhile, you're a department manager at your company in your 30s who regularly hosts meetings and has no need for any of that advice. You just werent sure how a specific piece of labor law applies in a unique situation thats never come up for you before and nothing you could find online addressed that situation, so you hoped someone more knowledgeable about the subject than you could answer.

I swear to god a similar situation happens with any kind of post. I ask a straightforward question, make the mistake of providing any relevant context, and all people will do is focus on the context, start making things up based on it, and ignoring the question entirely so they can give you irrelevant advice you never asked for.

Then god forbid you point out you dont need advice, or how what theyve said is irrelevant, or how its off topic. Then its like "well what exactly was the point of your post then"? TO ASK THE GODDAMN QUESTION IN THE TITLE YOU ILLITERATE MORON

Why the FUCK is the sun allowed to just sit there and ruin everyone's day?

I don't understand how we're all just expected to go outside and accept this.

You walk out the door and immediately get flashbanged by a giant ball of fire. You can't look at it, you can't escape it, and somehow you're the problem if you complain about it being too bright.

And don't even get me started on driving. One minute you're minding your own business, the next you're squinting like you've just witnessed classified government footage.

Cloudy days? Everyone complains.

Sunny days? Everyone complains.

WHO IS THIS GIANT THERMOSTAT IN THE SKY ACTUALLY WORKING FOR?

I just want to exist without being cooked alive or temporarily losing my eyesight. Is that too much to ask?

I've exhausted all of my options. It's over for me.

I've been homeless literally all year this year. In 2026. The winter is approaching and it's gonna get very cold. Even recently the nights have been cold, I wake up absolutely shivering and struggle to move for a couple of minutes. At this point, I'm mentally preparing for the fact that I'll likely die in the next few months. I feel like I've exhausted all my options and nothing has worked. So it may be it for me.

Can't join the military because I'm medically unfit. Can't qualify for SNAP/Food Stamps because... who knows but I keep getting rejected for a reason I guess. Can't go to shelters because I get into a panic attack, get kicked out, hospitalized, and taken back to the shelter I literally can't go to anymore. Can't do residential because I have no insurance. Can't do rehab because I'm not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Can't get case management because the wait list is massive as hell. Can't hold a job longer than a week

Can't move because I literally don't have the means to move. Can't do Job Corps because I'm too old. Can't do CSX or anything CDL related because I don't have a driving history or a license. Can't do Coolworks because it's either radio silence or rejection.

It's over. It's absolutely over for me. All I can do is just wait to die this season. I could go to jail/prison, but that's likely worse than being dead. I did seriously think about it though.

Is it just me or do Reddit comments kinda suck now?

Maybe I’ve been offline for too long but I came on here to ask some personal questions and every time the comments seemed more engaged in trying to prove me wrong than actually trying help me in my situation and give advice. It’s like they had zero trust that I was telling the truth. Like why else would I ask? Any detail I didn’t think to add suddenly became a blank to fill with what the commenters THINK happened.

Am I crazy or have things changed on here?
