Cold/Slow Compost Kinda doing my own thing here

Post image

Gonna throw all my vegetable kitchen scraps in on top of this 6 mo old leaf and grass pile. Threw a bunch of seeds I saved into it the other day. In the fall I’ll load it up with grass clippings and leaves. Piss on it all winter. All while saving any seeds from any store bought produce and adding through the spring, saving until the following spring after that.

That's my favorite part about composting. Do whatever the fuck you want. Then piss on it.

No not exactly, pissing comes first

Turned into a killer squash patch. Oddly a pineapple took off and is going to die soon.

Yes, I’ve got a bunch 7 gallon pots I’m going to do targeted veggies in. This will just be a free for all and see what happens

Was it by Mel Frank and Ed Rosenthal?

I recommend adding some kind of divider down the middle and piling everything lasagna method on one side, that way you can easily remove the divder and flip/churn it over to the other. I do something similar to that with a big cold-composting berm I made behind my archery targets.

i did? No worries, it's all good. This sub is actually quite open to changing their mind and i enjoy the communal learning aspect of it.

It’s not, its a zero effort experiment.

I’m going for a zero maintenance/work dumping ground. I am going to keep the last fence connection free enough to easily get in and harvest should any thing fruit. There’s a stump under it that I want to rot out, all while compost a small portion of my yard waste and maybe growing some veg.

Squash took off, all grass clippings from inside our fenced in area of our yard. Lots of leaves. Zero attention except containing the quash offshoots.

Best thing about composting is you do your own thing and enjoy it
