Who did this?

Post image

I just open one of my compost bins, the one farthest along, it looks like something's been digging holes in my compost. Who do we think it is?

Rodent probably judging by the hole

That hole looks like someone was hunting for grubs, maybe a skunk or a raccoon did a night shift in your bin

Where do you live? What kind of snakes, rodents, and giant spiders are out there?

NC. I'm surprised by the size of the hole it is as big as my fist. I see a bunch of squirrels in my backyard, lots of anoles, and a random cat or opossum at times. I might guess vole after talking to a couple neighbors. They mentioned seeing them before.

I'm in Nevada and we have voles! Our cats get the rats and mice, but I haven't seen them get a vole yet. They're relentless. We get them digging into the chicken yard for food. They also like to eat vegetable and fruits from the roots.

Looks like it goes pretty deep. I'm going to turn it and see if I stir up any critters

I turned it thoroughly and no critters to be found

Update. I found these on the side of the house. I'm pretty sure that's a molehill and I'm pretty sure that's who's been in my compost.
