Hi everyone, you may remember me from the other day when I was just putting out a vent about Ticketmaster and how it’s really difficult to buy accessibility tickets. Well, since then, I have decided to create a proposal for an accessibility ticketing website to send to Live Nation, the biggest ticketing company in the word. I would really appreciate it if you took the time to read it and hopefully be inspired by my work I put into this.
“Hello Live Nation, my name is (insert full legal name). I am # years old, live in Australia, and I have a disability called 'insert disability'. Since 2023, I have been going to all different types of events frequently, and there comes a problem in the planning process, which is purchasing tickets.
I have recently read the information on your website explaining that you are in the process of reviewing and redesigning your websites to be as accessible as possible across the ticketing companies that you own. I was pleased to see that accessibility is being considered, and I would like to share with you an idea that could further improve the ticket-buying experience for people with accessibility requirements.
Over these past few months, I have experienced difficulties in purchasing accessible tickets to upcoming events in 2027. Ticketmaster Australia is the ticketing company I have had the most difficulty with as it is extremely hard to navigate to the 'submit a request' form in order to purchase accessible tickets to any event, and I do realise you have loads of staff sifting through tons of accessible ticketing requests and other enquiries, but the lengthy response times gives me bad anxiety, particularly when tickets are selling quickly.
Within this past week, I have been pretty stressed in trying to purchase Powderfinger tickets and Nickelback tickets, to which I was only able to get Powderfinger. Along with this, I kept having this idea that I wish was real and would be extremely useful, a ticketing website that is exclusively for booking accessible tickets to all different types of events across the nation.
My proposal for this website would be to explore the development of a dedicated, centralised accessible ticketing website where people with a wide range of accessibility could find, select, and purchase suitable tickets for their intended event. Ideally, the platform would provide clear accessibility information, simplify the booking process and allow customers to purchase available accessible seating online without unnecessary delays.
The aim would be to make accessible ticketing more straightforward, less stressful, transparent and inclusive, helping people with disabilities attend live events with their friends, family, and support workers. It could also provide a more consistent booking experience across different venues and ticketing providers.
I strongly believe that this proposal is worth considering because it could improve the overall customer experience, while also demonstrating how Live Nation commits to making its ticketing agencies more accessible and more inclusive. This platform will help reduce confusion, make accessible seating information easier to find, and provide event goers with a more straightforward and hassle-free way to purchase tickets. This website will also create a more consistent process across venues nationwide and ticketing providers, reducing the need for customers to navigate multiple booking procedures.
To determine the feasibility of this website, Live Nation could begin by consulting people with disabilities, accessibility organisations, venues and ticketing providers. A pilot program involving selected events would then be introduced to evaluate the website's usability, booking efficiency and customer feedback before wider rollout. The platform could also incorporate other existing ticketing systems where it allows customers to view available accessible seating and complete their booking online, subject to each venue's requirements.
Another feature I would like to propose is having an accessibility profile within the website. This feature will allow customers to provide information about their disability, any additional accessibility requirements, and whether they hold a valid Companion Card. Customers will be able to manage and update their details as needed, helping them communicate their requirements more efficiently when booking tickets.
The profile would be designed with privacy and security in mind, giving customers control over the information they choose to provide and how it is used. Where appropriate, this information could help participating venues and ticketing providers understand a customer's requirements and determine suitable seating and companion ticket arrangements in accordance with their policies.
By implementing this feature will reduce the need for customers to repeatedly having to provide the same information for different events, making the booking process more convenient, reduced timing, and accessible.
By investing in this initiative, Live Nation would have an opportunity to help address existing barriers to live entertainment and develop a more inclusive ticketing experience for those living with a disability.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my proposal. I would greatly appreciate it if this idea could be forwarded to the appropriate team for further consideration. I hope that, through collaboration and innovation, we can help make purchasing accessible tickets a simpler and more inclusive experience for people across Australia. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my idea further and provide additional feedback based on my personal experiences.
