To me, it's more about doing the actual job, not winning internet points. Let's also not overestimate how much he would actually do for Americans based on his intern's social media savvy. He's a known scumbag and crony capitalist, he would just do a much better job hiding his corruption

I absolutely understand, but if Democrats get in and don't really deliver for the working class, we will be right back here, but will slide even further into authoritarianism

Plus if the next admin drops the ball on prosecuting these traitors the way the last admin did, theyāll come right back with lessons learned to do even more damage next time.
We need a progressive bulldog who delivers for the working class and also takes no shit from Republicans and pursues justice for the people.

u/100292 Progressive 1d ago
I mean⦠yeah of course we want the best person for the job. Thatās why we have primaries. Does it mean I wonāt vote for Gavin if he wins? No

Maybe you... but, so many whiny Dems will throw a fit and won't. And that is why we have a rapist as the current president.Ā

I'm gonna tell you, if the choice comes down to J.D. and Gavin, I don't even have to think about it.

And yet we aren't at that choice, we haven't even chosen who is on our ticket, so why should we lock it in now?

I don't really see any plausible candidate on the Dem side who is objectionable so I'm just waiting it out until it's my turn to vote on the state primary.

u/horseofcourse93 1d ago
Better. He has been very emphatic that he will not run in 2028 though. Personally, I think Beshear is the guy to reunite the working class with the left, but what do I know? IMO if you can win twice in Kentucky, you can win anywhere.
9
u/TheRealBaboo That's Cali-for'ya 1d ago
I saw him say that too, kind of a bummer but that is an important seat.
I really donāt know about Beshear tho, he signs a lot of Republican legislation that Gavin would never sign, and the whole McConnell situation makes him seem afraid to assert himself
What about Kelly?

āHe signs a lot of Republican legislationāā¦
Well yeah, heās the governor of Kentucky. What do you expect? He also vetoes legislation, and not infrequently, but usually the state legislature has the votes to pass it anyway.
As for the McConnell situation, maybe Andy knew that McConnell wasnāt dead despite what the internet wanted to think, and that he had nothing to gain for himself or the people of Kentucky by making a fool of himself?

Mitched Mitched out. Dems were helped with the GOP's dipshittery on McConnell's absence, as he didn't vote on the Senate floor.

Why ain't he it? And do an analysis against why he should be. I personally don't want to listen to the opinion of someone who only says no. And that's all you said.

I'd vote for him as President of Memes. Not a fan of the crown though, that sends a bad message even though it's doing good work mocking Trump. I think I'll wait and see who else is running in 2028 though. We need serious change to fix this country, and he is way too close to the tech bro's and billionares who are making things worse for everyone else.

Absolutely not. Newsom sucks. He just endorsed prop 42 (which exists solely to block prop 40, aka the billionaire tax).

u/OhioRanger_1803 1d ago
Hello Texan here. Whatās prop 42 please and thanks
18
u/fly123123123 1d ago edited 1d ago
prop 40 is for a one-time tax on billionaires of 5% of their assets. props 41 and 42 are written such that they conflict with prop 40, and if either passes or gets more votes than prop 40, prop 40 fails automatically.
prop 42 specifically prevents taxing on long-term retirement savings. itās fearmongering - āif we donāt approve this the government can choose to take all my retirement savings!ā is the message newsom and others are pushing. they do this so that they donāt have to come out against prop 40. they can hide behind a contradictory prop and still cater to the billionaires
sergey brin (google cofounder) is the largest contributor to advertising to knock prop 40 down. he helped get props 41/42 on the ballot to muddy the water and make it more likely that prop 40 fails
so yeah, newsom is just sucking up to the billionaires. heās a sleazebag.

dumb dumb dumb - No. He should NOT run for president.

He is way to polarizing and even within California, some of the more progressive liberal population do not support him after the homeless stuff he pulled.
No. Please neither him nor Kamala. We need to win this electionā¦.

Democrats always think this way and itās self defeating. Republicans have 0 qualms about backing an extremist. They force themselves on the rest of the country and use alllllll the dirty propaganda strategies to paint it as the obvious choice. They gaslight the nation. It worksā¦very effectively.
I say democrats start imposing themselves for once. Conduct ourselves with confidence. Act like backing the opposition is literal insanity. Because it is. Iām tired of sanewashing conservative bullshit and running centrists that keep the electorate moving steadily right. That got us Trump. Iām done with it.

Sadly, we are in the bad place and we need to be realistic about the shit sandwich in front of us.
Itās not really helpful to live in delusional world where we are electing an extreme left figure. Itās just not happening.Itās one of the most endearing but also frustrating part of being a democrat. We elect people that are good for everyone and keep everyone happy. We are the party of the people, and therefore have much much more varied opinions than conservatives. Itās really really hard to find a democrat that checks all the boxes, but very easy for a right wing luni to check all the boxes.

President of the HOA. No way I am voting for Newsom if there is anyone else viable. Horrible track record. Wrong guy to give complete control to. His background is as republican as they freaking come. He'll follow the same policies with a nicer tone using the same justifications.

The DNC does not "nominate" a candidate. The winner of the primary is the candidate. You really ought to have a clue about anything before you comment on the internet.
