Hypothetically, if a person approached them from behind they could not be identified.
Also hypothetically, if a person wrapped up their saw in bags or something, it would be less obvious.
And if anyone was so bad as to do this, and if they left the evidence intact where it fell, it may serve as a message.
And if a person wanted to, they might pay in cash

u/TomOgir Aug 17 '26
Also, hypothetically that person wasn't there that night the person was with me
5
u/BmpBlast Aug 17 '26
I was also with u/TomOgir and can confirm the hypothetical person was with us.

u/KingBooRadley Aug 17 '26
No phone or car with tracking capabilities or license places, full face mask, unmarked clothing, etc.. So many hypothetical things to account for.

u/ChainOut C'bus Aug 18 '26
As long as that person didn't have their phone in their pocket. Also, a circular saw with the right blade does a better job of quickly chewing through aluminum tubing

Watch out though, all Home Depot and Lowe’s have them in their parking lot!

I saw a YT short where it was a tutorial how to cut down a metal black pole the size of a flock camera pole and circular saw always won
5
u/donjahnaher Aug 16 '26
Yes, but a circular saw with a metal blade is extremely loud.
9
u/GeneralBurg Aug 17 '26
Yes but it takes 10 seconds compared to a minute and a half, a sawzall isn’t exactly silent

That sounds like it would be an effective option too, hypothetically speaking.

Handheld circular saw works in like a 10th of the time according to some awful criminals

u/Mrzillydoo Aug 17 '26
If one were hypothetically figuring out the quickest, but still effective, way to render devices inoperable there's been a recent story that's said spray foam worked quite well. Once it's expanded, it leaves stuff on smooth surfaces like a lens that does not come off clean and it's a lot quieter than sawing through metal.

Turns out circ saws are better for…. cutting miscellaneous metal conduit upright.

u/PastAd1087 Aug 18 '26
Circular saw will do it 5x as fast. Someone tested sawzall, band saw, and circular saw. Sawzall took 55 sec, band saw took 20 some sec, circular saw tool 11sec

I have listened to an expert in cutting aluminum pipe, and although he loves flock cameras he wants people to be educated in cutting 2" aluminum pipe. And he recommends the best thing for cutting this style of pipe in a horizontal or a vertical position is definitively a circular saw actually.

It would be a bigger shame if that disc happened to be a circular saw blade

Throwing frisbees and smoking joints in the woods. Real menace to society, those disc golfers.

Don't forget to throw it back after you make that big putt. Give the folks a show.

The flock is the new mando. You have to smack it as hard as you can before you can touch chains.

"Excuse me sir, on that course you average 950, so why did you enter c pool? I am going to write you a ticket to cover the $30 in store credit that you won to Play it again sports?"

I sure hope nobody breaks that camera with their disc, because that would be terrible...

They're just trying to record Ryan Wysocki's next one throw bounce in.

u/ViciousKnids Aug 17 '26
If most of us can manage to hit the only tree on the fairway, that camera is doomed. Oh, the humanity...
1
u/porouscloud Aug 17 '26
I wonder how resistant to discs that camera is.
Hypothetically speaking of course.

"Sorry officer, im just so bad at disc golf they put that camera within 50 ft of the pin. Of course, in going to hit it repeatedly every round."

The camera is for the walkway that connects to the park entrance that is out of frame. Last week, that basket was underwater due to flooding. There is a pavilion and a child play area just beyond the basket, where kids frequently have birthday parties.
The pole itself is a schedule 80 zinc galvanized carbon steel filled with an anti-cut material, making it impossible to cut with standard tools and slow to cut even with industrial ones. Since it went in last Fall, vandalism and theft has dropped significantly.
It plays like a tree and in fact, deflects shots that would otherwise go past the paved walkway (where the bench is) towards the river (which is just beyond that line of trees). I asked a police officer about the camera and he stated unequivocally that it is not there to be Jomez in the park.
This is my home course and it is a very nice course that also hosts weddings, light displays, festivals, and disc golf tournaments. We have to share the space. See you at Worlds.
