I'm straight, so my preferences are obvious

No, because I don't know which of the two gender/sexs that compose a standard heterosexual relationship you are.

Did you not hear me say girlfriend as my first answer that conflicts with the first comment's tastes? I feel that's a solid clue

A clue, but it doesn't tell me for sure. Especially since you where replying to somebody calling it a boyfriend, it was fairly likely you where just pointing out another possibility, although yeah I did see it and if I had to have guessed I would say you're a heterosexual man based on that.

Nonetheless, even now you have technically failed to specify, and I'm proud of being one technical and pedantic nitpicker of a person.

I'm male and I like women. There's your answer, Poindexter

Dude I had to look up the definition of Poindexter to see if it was even an actual word/name... are you sure you're not one yourself? That seems to be pretty niche vocabulary, or, as my family of origin likes to call fancy or obscure words (especially very specific or precise ones) "a five dollar word".

Still wouldn't call myself as much of a specified nerd as you, especially with how much you have to keep drawing from specifics even after I gave you my answer

Fair, but also I only drew it out like that because as I see it you invited such repeated pedantry with your own repeated refusal to simply be specific. You could have said you where a straight man/male from the start, and I never would've had something to correct you over, or you could've specified in your reply to my first "well, technically" message because you saw what I was doing or realized that you had left it ambiguous. But you insisted on being vague and saying I could guess from context, so I pursued to see how far you'd go before just saying it explicitly.
