hello, just converted into drarrynism and hungry for fics! i’m EXTREMELY open minded so egregiously explicit stuff or even OOC is okay with me! i’m also ok with platonic drarry too!

however PLEASE do not recommend me any ai-generated fics OR fics with bad formatting / grammar / spelling. i am not that open minded.

so basically i’m looking for fics where:

- draco is a tsundere / has a hard time expressing his feelings well, especially towards harry. he can be a straight up brat too idm

- he wants to be harry’s friend or he is clearly besotted with harry but he’s his own worst enemy

- i would like it if harry is very aware of draco’s inner turmoil and thinks it’s cute / funny. but if he’s equally dense as draco im fine with that too

- light angst is ok but i would not prefer too much angst. im more tuned towards comedies / romcom

please feel free to recommend anything!!! i love having fics on my back burner!

A very specific pet peeve I have that also made me realise what makes a fic REALLY good to me

Okay, bear with me because this is weirdly specific and I’m not sure I’m going to explain it properly 🫪

I’ve realised that one of my biggest pet peeves in fic is when the dialogue/conversation doesn’t flow. Like, when it doesn’t actually feel like a real conversation. The pacing feels off,banter or there are huge blocks of dialogue that feel like monologues, or the characters are basically just taking turns delivering information.

I’m one of those readers who basically experiences a fic like a movie playing in my head. I can hear the voices, imagine the facial expressions, picture the characters moving around, etc. So when the dialogue and scene construction are really good, the “movie” in my head jut kinda play?! Everything moves naturally from one thing to the next. There’s a rhythm to it.

But when the dialogue is awkwardly paced or there isn’t enough description/action around it, my imaginary movie basically starts like stuttering….Like I can’t quite picture how the scene is supposed to move from A to B.

And I LOVE when authors sprinkle in those little descriptions during conversations. Not huge paragraphs of exposition, just things like what someone does with their face, how they move, where they’re looking, someone interrupting, pausing, leaning against something, rolling their eyes, etc. That kind of “blocking” makes the whole scene so easy to visualise.

I also enjoy plenty of fics where this isn’t particularly prominent, so I’m absolutely not saying that a fic is bad if it doesn’t do this! I read and enjoy plenty of fics where the dialogue isn’t this kind of immersive. But when an author does have this particular quality, I realise I enjoy the fic SO much more.

I’m currently reading A Soft Place to Fall by amomori, and they are doing this SO well. I barely have to consciously imagine anything because it just plays out in my head.
And now I’m wondering if anyone else knows exactly what I mean ?! 🥹

If you do, PLEASE give me recs for Drarry fics where the dialogue/conversations have this really natural, flowy, almost cinematic quality.

I’m pretty open to everything but I generally don’t read anything under ~70–80k words. Otherwise, throw whatever you have at me!

I know Rookie Moves has this quality for me, and I feel like basically everything I’ve read by lettereddoes too. There are definitely other fics I’ve read where I’ve had the same feeling, but of course my brain is refusing to come up with any of them right now 😂

Also, if you’ve read A Soft Place to Fall and know exactly what I mean by this, PLEASE tell me I’m not alone in noticing it because I feel like I’m describing something incredibly abstract 🙂❤️

I feel like a lot of fics skim those issues and I would love to read a fic (length doesn't matter) which explores some issues with their upbringing and them talking about it or even work through it. I think Harry and Draco were raised with a lot of issues. I would think Harry hordes food or absolutely devour food, because he is afraid someone would take it away. Maybe he is afraid of open spaces or is claustrophobic? I could see he has ADHD or something similar?

Draco could have body issues- he always had to be perfect. Or he is afraid of touches- I read somewhere it's likely canon that he got hit by his dad?!

Also, it was the 90s and I can imagine there was still a lot of homophobia around (I was raised fairly open minded so I didn't run into it, luckily). Draco has to "produce" an heir so he is conflicted I would think. And the dursleys don't seem very tolerant either.

Which other issues/trauma can you imagine for the boys? And do you have recs for me?

(I re-read snogging lessons a short while ago and it depicted the wizard world as open minded about it, which is also interesting)

Shamelessly begging for recs! I just reread from love obviously last night and I want to find something similar -- big emotional payoff, sloooooow burn (like first kiss at 75% of the way through is my jam), slightly bizarre / pretentious / rude but well-meaning Draco, confused/oblivious Harry... all those kind of vibes (or fics with combos of some of these and not others!). Also love the slightly baffled but welcoming vibe from Hermione / the Weasleys in that fic 🥲

I've read pretty much all the top-kudos fics, I hate kid fics (deaged fics and fics where they have kids), and I do not read non-magic drarry fics, gender swaps, or omegaverse/mpreg. Set at hogwarts or post-hogwarts is fine by meee 🙏

Hiii. I want to find a fic please. In it Draco was a priest or meant to be a priest. But maybe Voldemort or someone else won a war in the kingdom, someone that haf something agains Draco, so he is given as a husband to Harry. I remember Draco is good with languages and inmediately starts learning his language to try and get revenge for his family. He also decides he needs to seduce Harry, and sleep with him, even tho it is against his morals. I don't remember much else, sadly

So I just finished Through The Fire by SongAngel. I really enjoyed the story but I really want something where we have a progression of the world following the battle of Hogwarts and how the change the world with their ideas.
(I also really enjoyed them making Ron gay 💀)
