Ive never been to LA, but there was something I needed to do once I got there, and since I'm there, well

I've been wanting to do this for a while now

I've been playing since ARR and there have been a few things on my to do/bucket list pretty much the whole time. In the last few months I've crossed off a few big one. Earned a wondrous lanner, got my companion to level 20, but this is the big one! I finally buckled down and got my Yoichi Zeta!

I'm so glad it's over haha! Not only because the bow is cool, but also what a pain! I can't imagine how awful it was when it was current content.

(As a side note, I'm peeved that I can't rewatch this cs in the Unending Journey. I finished the quest thinking I could retake the screenshot when the weather improved but nope! 🫠)

The story continues on the island. Brairdein has joined the fray to try cleaning up after the inspector. Greg shows his face again and Nashu... still continues being Nashu.

It's been really busy these past few weeks, but I managed to squeeze out this glam and take some pictures of it, hope you enjoy!

I have been doing research for a project relating to XIV and have come across some dev trivia that I rarely see mentioned (or sourced) in the English fandom, so I have compiled them here!

• Yoshi-P named central Mor Dhona, with its fallen airship, as his favourite area in the original 1.0 release (Official forum, July 2011).
• Yoshi-P liked the idea that 1.0 Ascians were meant to cast no shadow, until he discovered that nobody in 1.0 cast a shadow because the hardware couldn't draw them (Famitsu, Mar 2022).
• Most of the Scions have white hair because their character-creation values were left at 0, and hair colour 0 happens to be white (Famitsu, Mar 2022).
• Ishikawa ended the Crystal Tower series hoping something might come of it someday, with no plan for when or how (Famitsu, Mar 2022).
• Nero's watch scanner at the end of the raid series was set up to detect a Eureka dungeon planned beneath the cliff, which was later dropped (Famitsu, Sept 2021). A Morse code message reading "IT'S ALL WRONG plays when he drops it into the depths of the Crystal Tower. Automaton, Aug 2020). This plot thread was dropped when Eureka became a field operation. Ishikawa then came up with the idea that Nero's scanner had really been detecting the Garlond Ironworks device that summons you to the First (Famitsu, Sept 2021), and Ishikawa hinted in May 2020 that Nero's device lies on somewhere in Novrandt (Ishikawa on X, May 2020). Of course, all of this ended up circling back to the initial idea through the inclusion of Eureka Orthos in Endwalker. 
• Yoshi-P admitted the game likely could have been cancelled after Heavensward, its "second season", so the big picture was only built out once Stormblood was under way (Game Watch, Aug 2019).
• Ishikawa was handed ARR Coerthas because no other writer had it, and she was told to go all out, which is how Haurchefant was born (Denfaminicogamer, Nov 2023). She lobbied until NPCs could change their dialogue after a quest, to better show progression in the world (Denfaminicogamer, Nov 2023).
• Estinien only joined the party in Heavensward because the story needed someone to explain Ishgard's side of the war (Game Watch, Aug 2019).
• Heavensward was planned "field first": the zones came first, then the order of travel and the story were built around them (Famitsu, June 2017). The Sea of Clouds exists because flying mounts were coming, and the world-setting team was asked for fields themed around the sky (Famitsu, June 2017).
• Ishikawa wrote the Rogue class quests, but not the Ninja quests, and feels guilty every time a fan calls her "the Ninja person" (Famitsu, June 2017).
•  Writers chose which job quests they wanted, and because Heavensward was pitched as dark fantasy, revenge plots kept appearing until Oda was ‘holding his head in his hands’ (Famitsu, CEDEC 2018).
• Oda wrote about ten quests a day during Heavensward (Game Watch, Aug 2019).
• Yoshi-P wanted the end of Heavensward to have a strong hook, which led to Estinien becoming Nidhogg, and Maehiro asked on the spot whether he could add the Warrior of Darkness too (Game Watch, Sept 2019).
• Oda felt Heavensward lost momentum whenever the story kept returning to Ul'dah's problems, which is why Shadowbringers stayed in the First and used "meanwhile" scenes instead (Game Watch, Sept 2019).
• Oda added the Omega versus Shinryu clash in patch 3.56 because the two were long-standing Final Fantasy rivals that nobody had ever seen fight, making it a dream monster showdown (Famitsu, June 2017).
• From the 3.x patches onward, Oda wrote the odd-numbered patches and Ishikawa the even-numbered ones (Famitsu, June 2017). Ishikawa asked to write the 5.0 patch of Shadowbringers by herself, with Oda remaining as her supervisor (Famitsu, Sept 2021; Game Watch, Sept 2019). Oda credits the characters of Emet-Selch, G’raha, and Vauthry to Ishikawa.
• The Stormblood scenario camp was Yoshi-P, Oda and Ishikawa in a rented Tokyo meeting room from morning to night, going home each evening. This was in stark contrast to Heavensward, where Yoshi-P simply checked off a plot outline handed to him (Famitsu, June 2017).
• Ishikawa wrote the eastern half of Stormblood while Oda took the western half around Ala Mhigo, so they think of it as a double feature (Famitsu, June 2017).
• Stormblood's job quests were chosen through an in-studio competition of 200-character pitches (Famitsu, CEDEC 2018).
• Kugane was originally planned as two districts, a merchant quarter and a harbour quarter (Famitsu, Apr 2018).
• Yoshi-P once planned "Awakened Eorzea", copies of the old zones overlapping the originals so they could support flying, but dropped it because he couldn't make the idea work. This idea then inspired Norvrandt as a mirror of Eorzea (Game Watch, Sept 2019; Famitsu, Sept 2021).
• Oda warned that mirror versions of old zones give an MMO an end-of-life feel (Game Watch, Sept 2019).
• The scenario team pushed to make Emet-Selch a travelling companion after Yoshi-P warned them it was a big hurdle (Game Watch, Sept 2019).
• Yoshi-P says Emet-Selch calling Lahabrea worn out is affectionate, much like staff saying Yoshi-P loves working a bit too much (Game Watch, Aug 2019).
• Thancred’s "for a family of two" moment before the Ranjit duel is the one place Yoshi-P gave an explicit line instruction, as he wanted to make it clear to players that Thancred’s love for Minfilia was platonic, as a sister and then a daughter in Ryne (Game Watch, Sept 2019).
• Sin Eaters followed a strict colour rule so recoloured old monster models still read as one family (Game Watch, Sept 2019). The cocoon stage of a Sin Eater transformation also hides the moment the game swaps one model for another (Game Watch, Sept 2019).
• Eden's Titan grew wheels because Thancred warned everyone not to imagine being knocked off the edge, and Yoshi-P says that one is entirely Thancred’s fault (Game Watch, Sept 2019).
•  Gaia first appears in Eden in armour because her model wasn't finished, so battle designer Masaki Nakagawa explained it as darkness forcing the armour on her (Famitsu, Sept 2021, part 2).
• The first play-as-Alphinaud battle was secretly the Warrior of Light wearing Alphinaud's appearance (Famitsu, Sept 2021, part 2). In that battle your buffs carried over, and one Free Company buff couldn't be removed, so the team hid its icon while its effect quietly stayed on (Famitsu, Sept 2021, part 2).
• The G-Warrior battles in the Werlyt quests are also the Warrior of Light underneath, because each area can only hold one player-controlled character (Famitsu, Sept 2021, part 2).
• Trust NPCs were given their own non-standard jobs so they could use unique moves without players crying foul (Famitsu, Sept 2021, part 2).
• Estinien was deliberately made overpowered in Trusts (Famitsu, Sept 2021, part 2).
•  The Werlyt story was approved because Yoshi-P felt a mecha story could only work in Garlemald (Famitsu, Sept 2021, part 2).
• The Warrior of Light trial was even longer when Yoshi-P first checked it, and he had it cut because he dislikes story-heavy fights that drag on replays (Famitsu, Sept 2021, part 2).
• Ishikawa threw out the scenario camp's checklist for Endwalker two days before the deadline and rewrote the outline because it didn't feel worthy of a finale (Famitsu, Mar 2022). Meteion existed in that first draft but didn't have a name yet (Famitsu, Mar 2022).
• Had the original Hydaelyn story run to 7.0, there would have been a whole expansion around Garlemald with Anima as a boss before you faced Hydaelyn and Zodiark (Famitsu, Mar 2022).
• The first piece of Endwalker locked in was Alphinaud's line about going farther than the moon as the Ragnarok launches (Famitsu, Mar 2022).
•  Ishikawa designed Ultima Thule partly hoping Oda, a big science fiction fan, would fill it with clever little details (Famitsu, Mar 2022).
•  Endwalker's trailer showed only one adventurer facing Anima to hide whether it was an eight-player trial or a four-player dungeon boss (Famitsu, Mar 2022).
• Ishikawa admits to constantly asking for retainer bells to be placed near the main aetheryte, even in areas she isn't responsible for (Famitsu, Mar 2022).

For a relatively popular character (if not a bit controversial) it's kinda shocking that there are almost no items related to him that you can get in-game.

I just got all the minions of my favorite characters: haurchefant, aymeric, and estinien. But despite being a major character in TWO expansions, there is no Zenos minion. Even Emet has one!

You could get Shinryu items, but even the Shinryu minion is not depicted as related to Zenos. I got it anyway, but yeah...

And he's not even in the Halloween event 😭 I wonder why Squenix ignores him like this.

Anyway, I just want some Zenos items. I'd be fine with a minion if anything. And yes, I got the Zenos triple triad card.

I've been on a journey that started at the end of endwalker. It started with a title, and it ended with another title.

The lady of far waters. That's the title I wanted. And for that I started a hobby that I didn't know I would love as much as I do. I became a fisher. And in the final months of endwalker and starting weeks of dawntrail I fished. I fished until I got the title. And I did. I vowed I wouldn't fish again ...

Fast forward to march this year, I wanted a better adventuring plate. I really wanted one to match the title. so water? what plates have water ...
Yes, not a lot but the one attached to big fishing certainly does! And so I started again. fishing all of the big fish in ARR, HW and StB. it took me just a bit over a month to complete.

And then I was done? well, yes but now I really just had 2 expansions left. so, I could just complete them now. or at least, mostly (at that point we were missing some DT big fish) bu I knew it wouldn't be too long.
And so I started. and just in time too. Why just in time? Purse of riches! It was june and it only had 3 windows before going on a 3 month break! I managed to get it on the second window. And at that point I had one thing on my mind. to get a completed log before purse showed up again. so before november first. Little did I know at that point there was a fish that would really challenge that goal. that "fish" being Xehabopo'u (I'm pretty sure it's an alligator, but sure, "fish".) It had really long downtimes for the past few months and I barely got any windows to catch it. It was the only fish I still needed. And so I waited. 15 days, then 45 days, and then 12 da~ ... NO! I got it!

And with it, I finally got the last big fish. Earning me the title of Orivye of the Golden Scales. And I made a glamour to match that very glamorous title! But Orivye is tired now. Time for Orivye to rest.

What would be best/fast use for single target? Whistle + tingle + goblin punch (might guard on, atk from the front)= 756 potency in 2.82s cast time or Whistle + goblin punch (Same conditions) 576 potency in 0.94s cast time? In the long run is the extra 1.88 cast time from tingle worth It for the extra + 100 potency for the next phys spell?

And like have the requirement be that both players need to be friends for more than a year. Look, I know my friends are MUCH more wealthier than me so it'd be nice to get spoiled by them.

So, beside the japanese people doing JP Only. How is the cross datacenter?

Is it stable? does it have unexpected side effect (like when DC travel became possible, pf concentrated in 1 or 2 DC) etc...

I'm also curious how it's been technically implemented, if there is any info.

Took a group of newly inaugurated friends through a new trial for them, and...

I definitely was not expecting three Hrothgar in a field of flowers, though. I'm not sure why they are there but I found it a heartening sight. It definitely made finishing Endwalker that much more memorable.

I know, it's just two items that can be stacked together in the glamour dresser, but given this will be a shop item in one year, shouldn't it go inside the armoire?
I reported it as a bug in game already and asked some friends to do the same, because I'm certain the devs just forgot to flag this set as armoire compatible.

Hi everyone, I was thinking about this and I wanted to see if anyone else has this same thing about some of the older gear sets that may not have as high of textures or detail as Endwalker or Dawntrail gear, but you just can’t help go back to it. I know for me the Bale set for Dark Knight from ShadowBringers is the set that even though the Endwalker and Dawntrail set have super nice and updated models (and also just look super cool) I can’t help but go back to the Bale set since it just scratches that itch for me design and style wise for a dark knight. What are some other sets you guys have the same feelings for and gravitate towards?
